Rules change: Holonet Relays

As discussed the Holonet Relay rules have changed.

((EDIT: As explained in a later post, this post was incorrect. I have updated it to reflect the actual situation: red striked text is removed, green text was added.))

The change can be viewed on the Holonet Relay Stations rules.

I have done some of the work of conversion for you: I have removed all the Holonet Repeaters technology, and fixed all bookkeeping of people that had the technology.

Now that we have two types of Holonet Relay stations, there is a slight change in what the data blocks you put on your bookkeeping page mean. You'll have one data block for your Base Station in a sector, and one or more data blocks for your Upgrade Stations in a sector. The Upgrade Station data block can be split up in increments of 500 (:holonet-trade) any way you see fit, as each Upgrade Station represents 500 (:holonet-trade).

This rules change also means an increase in upkeep on base stations from 25 (:tax) to 35 (:tax). This increase will go into effect starting (:turn) 122!

Building a Holonet Relay Base Station costs 150 (:holonet-relays).

How to note this on the wiki

I have created two new data models, and accompanying templates.

Holonet Relay Base Station Model, and an example of how to note these on the wiki:
Code: Select all
<data !holonet_relay_base_station upkeep #Smi-Halek Base Station>
Faction_ref      : Veolian Commonwealth
Sector_ref       : Sector 10 -5
Capacity         : 500
Upkeep           :
</data>

Holonet Relay Upgrade Station Model, and an example of how to note these on the wiki:
Code: Select all
<data !holonet_relay_upgrade_station #Smi-Halek Upgrade Cluster>
Faction_ref      : Veolian Commonwealth
Sector_ref       : Sector 10 -5
Capacity         : 1500
Attached To_ref  : ic:veolian_commonwealth_bookkeeping#Smi-Halek Base Station
</data>

Retroactive changes

As this is a rules change, you are entitled to propose changes to your system. Changes to convert old-style holonet relay stations to new-style base stations and upgrade stations will be approved without problems, but take into account that you'll still have to notify other players if you are attaching to their base stations!

It is up to you to determine how you convert your contracts to the new system, but I would like it if this is noted in this thread, so we have a record if it together with the converted relays.

During the conversion you do not need to pay these additional costs -- these costs apply only for new Base stations.

I have converted all of my stations to base station+upgrade stations, and will pass off transfer control of 2 upgrade stations in (:hex) 12 -7 to the Sundarian Federation.

My entire holonet listing has been adjusted to fit the new rules.

notes:
IO Protocol can, according to earlier agreements, attach their upgrade stations to my base stations on following array's:
* Array 4 in (:sector) 15 -4
* Array 5 in (:sector) 14 -4
* Array 6 in (:sector) 14 -3

My Veolian Upgrade cluster is attached to the Veolian base station in (:sector) 12 -7 as per agreement between the Veolian Commonwealth and the Sundarian Federation.

I have introduced an error in these new rules.

As was correctly pointed out to me by Chriz, I have introduced an old version of the proposed rules. The latest version we all agreed on was the variant where the Base Station costs +50 (:holonet-relays), and the upkeep was kept at 25 (:tax).

I will immediately update the rules to conform to the actually agreed upon rules.

My apologies to everyone.

Note: the upkeep increase will not go into effect!
