For IC reasons, I want to have a genealogical archives. However, my faction exists of two races which are practically the same, but are different in the rules for ruling purposes.

To capture the idea that my two races are the same race, I propose the following: To add a Teprogrenus Genetic Lineage Analysis and respectively the Teprogrenus Racial Upgrade. These tech and upgrade do the same as the other racial techs and upgrades for the genealogical archives with as only change that the Teprogrenus Genetic Lineage Analysis and Racial Upgrade work for both Teprogrenus Danar and Teprogrenus Fecta, but are twice as expensive to compensate.

So basically the Teprogrenus version of the upgrade are both Teprogrenus Danar and Teprogrenus Fecta in one package.


What do you think? The total cost will be the same, but this way the upgrade puts more emphasis on the point that danar and fecta have the same genes.

I see no problem with this whatsoever. I don't believe that there is a stacking penalty for upgrading the genetic archives so twice the normal cost fits nicely.

I think this can work. The tech would cost 1500 and take a minimum of 5 - not 10, cause you could research both techs in parallel rather than needing to do them consecutively.

I'd like Brends opinion on this since he is the expert on this, but I do not see a major obstacle unless there is some limit on the number of upgrades you can put on the archives that I missed.

For the record:

• The normal (1 species) thechnology costs: 750 / 5
• the normal (1 species) upgrade costs: 250 , 500 , 500

So, if I understand the proposal correctly:

• the Tepgrogrenus Genetic Lineage Analysis would cost: 1500 / 5
• the Tepgrogrenus Racial Upgrade would cost: 500 , 1000 , 1000

(As Mercury already said: the for the research are not increased, since you could normally research both technologies in paralel.)

If that is indeed what Elmer meant, I think this would model the non-disjointness very well.

I agree, this proposal fits both the current (intention of the) rules as well as the physiology of the Teprogrenaians. I have no objections against handling this as proposed.
