[ Mirda ] Investigate the Riki-Mirkaru accident
"That Iaat asshole!"
Although Trigiel suspected that it wouldn't work, he sent a message over the comm link to Kinsara "We're all right , do not bombard, repeat do NOT bombard. We're all right , do not bombard, repeat do NOT bombard."
If he received conformation that the bombardment was cancelled Trigiel followed the creature to see if there were more soldiers who needed medical attention.
If Trigiel received no conformation he said to Nebesnogo: "Time to go. They are going to bomb the place so we must leave immediately to stop them." Trigiel kept by a clock to check how much time they had left. If he was right then the Veolians would bomb the place in exact 60:00 minutes, minus the time it costs to send the message.

In reaction to his sudden curse, the creatures on the ceiling instinctively stepped away from Trigiel. But as quickly as they moved away, they moved back into position, careful not to lose sight of the cyborg. From the nest, Nebesnogo saw the creature that was guarding it shift on its legs, as if it was preparing to defend the nest.
Unfortunately, no confirmation came. Trigiel doesn't know how the commander's message came through, but it was most likely a one-way method to pierce the storms.
Trigiel's internal clock notes 60:00, and the seconds started to drop slowly but surely; 59:59... 59:58... 59:57...

When Nebesnogo heard the call for orbital bombardment he was quite visibly startled. "der'mo!" he exclaimed.
"ehh Lieutenant Acchā what is the correct phrase to tell Iaat Kinsara to halt her orbital bombardment?" he asked her.
"Trigiel go to the landing pad and light the flare maybe we can get a message out in time."

"What, they're going to level this place?!", the soldier jumped up, but immediately fell down again with a cry of pain, as her left leg gave out. Nebesnogo could see that her left leg was bending in a place where legs are not supposed to bend.
"There isn't any special phrase. If they're going to bombard they're going to bombard. Such orders come from up top. You need to stop them! You might not know it yet, but I think none of the evacuating personnel made it outside. We didn't find any signs outside, so they're probably still somewhere in the facility."
The woman suddenly looked up at Nebesnogo, as if she realised something.
" These insects have actually been caring for the wounded for a while now, though I do not understand why. I'm not in danger here. If the insects wanted to kill me I would be dead already. Go stop the bombardment! The only danger right now is getting blasted from space."

"I go right away, do you come or stay? There are probably more wounded people who need medical attention"
After Nebesnogo's answer, Trigiel rushed back to the landing platform. He did not suddenly started to run but started slowly to not startle the creatures. Then he ran faster and faster, as fast his mechanics could go. Meanwhile he checked if his flare was in his pocket. Yes it was, he took T'sal her flare when she was deported.
While nearing the platform he took the flare out his chest pocket and lighted it, running on the platform with a burning flare in his hand. There he waited for the ship.

"I will be right behind you because I can't really help them the insect seem to be careing for there people."
He then got up and walked out of the nest. Before he left he said to the person in the nest. "I will be back and I will bring more people to help you."
Once he was at a decent distance from the nest he lifted off and quickly flew after Trigiel.

Trigiel and Nebesnogo safely made their way out of the laboratory, with the insects keeping a watchful eye, but not hindering them in any way. They quickly navigated their way through the complex. The storm was still raging, and the rains swept down with force. Trigiel's internal clock informed him that their track through the facility, even at top speed, took them 12 minutes and 39 seconds.
47:20... 47:19... 47:18...
As they wait, Trigiel remembers the travel time from the flight to the facility, it took them about 30 minutes to go from the military camp to the facility. They would be cutting it very close!
Roughly ten minutes later -- 9 minutes 13 seconds actually, putting Trigiel's clock to 38:05 -- the dropship became visible through the rain. It sped toward the platform and set down with some force, it's engines immediately reversing to push the ship onto the platform to remain steady.
37:47... 37:46... 37:45...
The drop ship's door was already held open by an unfamiliar soldier and behind her the two padawan spotted three bulky veolian soldiers with large armours and serious firepower aimed at the facility's door. These guys were clearly expecting trouble, and looked ready to take on whatever came running out of the complex.
"Jedi, get in quickly, this place is going to get leveled in 35 minutes!", the woman holding the door said over the comms, apparently not even going to try and shout over combined roar of ship's engines and the wind.
37:39... 37:38... 37:37...

"Abort the bombing! Take us back to the camp and ABORT THE BOMBING! Trigiel said over the comm while he tried to enter the ship. If Trigiel couldn't get inside normally, then he had to do it Trigiel-style with a jump.
The heavy cyborg tried to help the light-weight mudry as much as possible as the wind probably had much less effect on his metal body, while Nebesnogo was much more likely to be blown away by the wind.
Inside, still using the comm to be able to talk more comfortably Trigiel tried to explain the situation quickly: "We found some people of the missing teams and some other people from the compound, we have reason to believe that more staff personal is still relative safe and can be extracted without much problems. Relay to your superiors to immediately abort the bombings, the facility is not fallen and much of the research can be saved." He deliberately did not mention the escaped research creatures yet, as that would likely be more reasons for the Veolians to bomb the centre.
((Check: 10 = 4 Force Level + 4 Fitness + 1 Athletics + 1 Force Jump -- For jumping in the ship if necessary.))

Nebesnogo was having some trouble with the wind luckily using Trigiel as an anchor point allowed him to get in safely.
He sat on the deck of the drop ship panting while Trigiel told them to stop the bombing. "The personnel.... they are still... in there." he said between gasps of breath.

Immediately after Nebesnogo's feet hit the drop ship's floor, the pilot reverses the engines again, and the ship lurches into the air. The roar of the wind and the engines is cut off as the soldier slams the door shut.
Luckily for Nebesnogo, the closed door blocked most outside sounds, and his gasping sentence was actually understood by the woman, who quickly relayed it to the rest through her comms.
"We have no radio contact with the base camp. I'll max out the engines, but we're still going to take about 20 minutes to get in radio range.", a voice came over the comms. Most likely this was the pilot of the ship.
The soldiers sat in silence, as they had nothing to say.
13:20... 13:19... 13:18...
"Jedi, we are in communications range with the base camp. I've taken the liberty to patch you through to the commander.", the voice of the pilot pierced through the silence.
"This is commander Iaat Kinsara. Jedi, the pilot told me that you have an urgent message for me. Make it quick, we're launching the first salvo in 13 minutes."

'The countdown of the Veolians is impeccable' Trigiel thought to himself. "Abort the bombing! We have found soldiers and personnel in relative safety. People can be extracted and research can be saved, abort the bombing, the facility can be saved, abort the bombing!"
Trigiel saw little reason to make the message longer, especially because commander Kinsara has to relay the order back to her troops.

"Acknowledged. Your ETA is 6 minutes. Please elaborate on the situation inside the facility."
Just as Trigiel was about to start, a second voice joined the conversation. Both Jedi recognized it is the voice of duke Iaat Vyapar
"Jedi, it is good to hear you are alive. We were worried after your friend was flown back with severe trauma. Unfortunately, we will have to consider those soldiers and personnel acceptable losses if neccessary to prevent an outbreak of contaminated biological matter. Why should we abort the bombing?"

Trigiels headlight turned red after Vyapars intrusion. "Our friend was harmed by facility defence systems which we weren't told of.
We have not encountered any of the described red ant wasps, so either they have already escaped or they will stay in the compound, both situations are no reason to blow up the station.
We located pieces of research which can be saved if proceeded with caution. This will safe you a couple of years of research data probably.
We have found no evidence of enemy activities.
Trigiel was silent for a moment, people could practically hear him thinking over the comlink. "A few minutes delay wont hurt after this time, there is another thing which can better be explained in person."

After the comm-link clicked off, the Jedi could feel the ship accelerate towards their destination.
07:05... 07:04... 07:03...
Trigiel's time keeping for the return trip was almost spot-on, with 30 minutes of flight time.
06:48... 06:47... 06:48...
The ship landed, and the soldier threw open the hatch. Commander Iaat Kinsara was already waiting for the Jedi. She walked with them to the commando tent, and ordered her guards not to let someone in unannounced.
Inside, Iaat Vyapar was already waiting, and other than two comms. soldiers the other personnel was gone.
"Please, explain.", was all that Iaat Kinsara said.

Trigiel wondered why the ship accelerated, it meant that it wasn't flying back at top speed yet for some reason. In the time they sat there in silence he could make up several reasons: They didn't initially want to let them arrive in time at the base, they were unsure if they had enough fuel left but now concluded that there was enough, or the ship was made for a certain cruise speed, any velocity faster would not only be less comfortable, it also would result in more operational damage to the ship. Trigiel guessed it was the last reason, and that the soldiers received orders to make haste, and that the wear of the ship would be of no concern given the situation, a damaged ship is less important than a destroyed research facility the size of a mountain.
On entering the tent, the first impulse of the cyborg was something like separating the the head from the torso of that arrogant Duke. Vyapar had quite the balls ordering a bombardment on the head of two jedi. Thought such an execution of the duke had several issues, starting with that then nobody could cancel the bombardment and ending with that it was plain wrong.
Trigiel grabbed the datapad from T'sal to open the map. "We went from here through here to the data centre," Trigiel started, showing the path they took, "we encountered a dead soldier here, dead scientists here, and a female soldier here in the main security station. We didn't encounter any hostility at all, and what we saw was no enemy attack.
In the security station and data centre we learned somewhat what happened: No ant wasps, no rice, but Veolian genetic experiments... Crossings of Veolian genetics and other things resulting in all kinds of abominations and creatures. Some of these experiments broke loose and caused havoc in the compound. A creature shut down the power, making the data centre melt. Some security measure we would have liked to know!" Trigiel looked quite accusatory towards the Duke and the Commander, with his top four headflaps extending.
"After sending our wounded friend back, we went to lab C20 and C21 as those were the only ones with power, and thus the only ones interesting at the moment. There we encountered incubation tubes with genetic experiments and giant glass tanks with several creatures. We encountered several escaped creatures as well, I counted 6, but I suspect at least 11 to be free, but probably more. They showed intelligent behaviour and no intentions to fight. Their goal as far we observed: take revenge on the scientists who used them as experiments and protect their children. They cared for the wounded soldiers and had several women under their protection. It should be possible for people with animal and medical skills to get friendly with them. Just DO NOT wear labcoats, that would be your immediate death. Also do not shoot them, that would also mean your death. They don't like labcoats or getting shot at. Look lively and friendly.
We haven't encountered any personnel except dead scientists in the labs, as they are not in the forest as far you told, I suspect they are in the facility at other locations waiting for help. I do not know where as some people here seems it not necessary for me to help. I am willing to aid in getting friendly with the creatures and to extract the research and people out of the facility.
One more thing," Trigiel's expression went rather dark and his hand became a fist, he had to force it open again before the hand relaxed a little, "we were in there for only a few hours, you know the size of the compound so you know the time it takes to move around. And still ordering a bombing with us still inside? Why asking our help if you have no intention to take it? Or better, why not bomb the place right when we fly towards it so we can enjoy a nice firework show and maybe get hit for great fun?"

Nebesnogo remained quiet during the ride back in the drop ship he just hoped that the ride back would be fast enough and that nobody would be bombed.
He nodded during Trigiels story of the mission but letting the larger jedi do the talking since he was on a nice roll. He said nothing when Trigiel started intimidating Duke Iaat as he did not think himself intimidating enough to help.

Duke Iaat did not seem very impressed by Trigiel's anger.
"Clearly, you underestimate your own ability, Jedi. I have full confidence that with our message, you would have easily made it out alive. In fact, you easily made it to this base within the alotted time."
"There are protocols in place to prevent an outbreak of unnatural or genetically modified creatures. An orbital bombardment is the last step in this protocol. Your friend came back wounded, and we did not receive a report of the situation except for some rambling from a very useless professor -- who, I might add, said something about you three being ready to kill him.
Since we had no further information, I ordered the prescribed orbital bombardment to commence only after we sent the broadcast, and waited another hour. I actually acted counter to the protocol to ensure that you two had the window to leave safely."

Commander Iaat Kinsara (mask of Veolian Commonwealth) - Faction
"From your report, I gather that we should indeed delay the bombardment until we have a better idea of what's going on."
She looked at the Duke, who looked angry at hear words, but remained silent.
"Thank you, Jedi, for taking such risks to aid my soldiers, and the people caught in the facility. We shall call in expert animale handlers, and have a team of scouts and analysts ready."
"I would suggest that you go and have a talk with your companion, as she is recovering from her shock. The doctor told me that she is conscious already."

A soldier escorted the two Jedi to a temporary building. Inside, it appeared to be a sickbay of sorts. Just after they entered, a young veolian women walked towards them.
"Greetings, honoured Jedi.", she said after a deep bow.
"Your companion is doing very well, considering the seriousness of the damage to her leg.", she led the two Jedi to a bacta tank.
In the tank they saw T'Sal floating in the greenish liquid. She was carefully wrapped in bandages, and wore underwear. A tube to breath through, and a lot of electrodes were connected to the machinery on top of the bacta tank. T'Sal looked alive and conscious, though talking would be difficult.
"We have been able to start the regeneration of her leg and foot already, her resistance to heat is impressive. It will take a few weeks before she can be released. The bactatank can be loaded onto a troop transport, which is already called in for you."
She bowed again. "I'll leave you three alone for now. Please, tell me if you need anything."
((OOC: This concludes the adventure part of the mission. A story page has already been created, but is in need of updating. Once you finish the mission report, and decide to head home (you are still in the military camp) I will announce the rewards.

In the command tent, Trigiel turned towards Duke Iaat Vyapar: "I suppose you didn't knew for certain we received the message, it barely came trough and we heard it only because we were in the area with a power supply. I thought the doc would had given more information about the situation inside. Clearly a misjudgement of character from my part.
that doesn't change the fact that we would have liked to know that the server room would melt in case of suspected enemy attack. The first assumption at the start of this mission was an enemy attack so I consider such security measures vital data when we are asked to retrieve data.
I have one question left, how's the female soldier which came back with T'sal and the doc? I suspected her to be poisoned even though she appeared dead. Has she shown any signs of life?"
In the field hospital where they were escorted to, Trigiel laid a hand on the glass tank: "Silly scientist. If I say run, don't hang around to get deep fried. That is exactly how little baby cyborgs are born. At least it looks like you are going to make a full recovery."
((OOC: Due to exams I have little time to write a report. After the exams I am probably immediately gone so that means that I have very little time to write a decent report.))

Duke Iaat seemed a bit surprised by the fact that the server room would melt in case of suspected enemy attack. But he did not say anything about it. To his question about the doc and T'Sal, he replied that T'Sal was in the hospital, together with the female soldier they brough back. He didn't know where the doc was, as twelve imperial soldiers turned up and took him away for questioning.
In the field hospital, Trigiel learned that the female soldier was cared for, but had not shown any signs of consciousness.

T'Sal - PC
T’sal is glad with the treatment she has received from the Veolian. She is not planning to try acrobatics again without some good training. Luckily she is not alone, S4 is outside waiting for her instructions. With their sign language she is able give him directions. If needed, she can tell people what exactly has happened by this route. T’sal lets S4 also look up legislation/law documents on genetic experiments. S4 projects them on the tank wall and she studies them while the other are away.
After a few hours Trigiel and Nesbesnogo come to visit her. S4 stops his projection so the others can she her and T’sal them. T’sal waves to the others as she is glad they are unhurt and safely back. She makes some signs to S4. He interprets them and acts as translator.
“Good to see you are back safely. I am sorry for failing you guys. I hope you got to the bottom of it. How did it go?”

After a few hours Trigiel and Nesbesnogo come to visit her. S4 stops his projection so the others can she her and T’sal them. T’sal waves to the others as she is glad they are unhurt and safely back. She makes some signs to S4. He interprets them and acts as translator.

With some work and searching S4 determined that the effective laws in the veolian commonwealth were actually a combination of imperial law and house law. With imperial laws usually covering wide areas, or dictating certain behaviour with regards to the whole of the commonwealth, while house law dictates the day to day laws. In any case, imperial law seems to trump house law.
S4 could easily look up the imperial laws on genetic experiments, and they seemed to be focussed on restrictions and preventing foreign genetic matter to enter the local gene pool.
Looking up house law was more difficult, as those were less generalised and required knowledge of the official status of the territory the law should apply to. However, with two hours of searching and combining, S4 projected the Iaat house laws on genetic experiments with respect to this territory. They were mostly aimed at restricting the flow of information with regards to discoveries.
((OOC: Good. I look forward to the report))
