I come to you with a most urgent call for aid. A terribly embarrassing situation is developing on Scir, which unfortunately requires adjudication by a neutral party. It is of the greatest importance that this is handled delicately and I am asking you to please send some of your Jedi to investigate this matter. We trust that they shall fairly rule in favour of the people before this situation gets entirely out of hand!

The Jedi Council received this message from Senator Lophos on behalf of Scir. We are looking for Jedi who are willing to investigate this matter to see what all the fuss is about and to deal with it in an appropriate manner. The Senator was unwilling to discuss details and insists we send a group to his planet. He refuses to divulge more information over holonet, so whatever it is, it is very sensitive.

Nathan came running in. Stopping he snapped to attention.

"Padawan Nathan Miodrass Asillion reporting for duty, sir." He called out.

"I would like to join this mission to Scir. This is a good opportunity to learn more about there culture."

[Jedi Master Screetor]

"Excellent, I think this will be a very balanced group." the Jedi Master agreed. "Do remember to use tact and to work together to resolve whatever problem they may have. I will prepare a diplomatic carrier for you all, but you should pack any equipment you feel you might need before going."

((OOC: I need a list of any equipment you bring on this mission. Once everyone has poster, if nobody mentions needing to do stuff before leaving, I will presume everyone gets onto the carrier and my next post will be your arrival at Scir.))

Shebi Ajava checked her equipment. Nothing fancy, they were just going planetside.

Nathan had no idea what to expect so he prepaired accordingly.

((OOC: @Everyone (except Shebi Ajava and Ariana Danacia): I would like to point out that proper use of translation matrices and devices requires the Linguistics skill, which is trained-only.

@Nalan Passik: Please updated your wiki page with these new lightsabers you are using. I don't think getting new lightsabers is an issue, as Quartermaster Nishra can hand out normal lightsabers (right, Mercury?). Secondly, know that you can not dual-wield long blades. The wiki only lists dual-wielded regular blades with regular hilts. Though you can of course take 2 lightsabers with you, and use only 1 at a time...))

Soon the Jedi vessel arrived in the Scirla system - having jumped out of hyperspace on the wrong side of the planet, the Jedi were treated to a high speed overland flight over Scirs primary continent, which was filled with fields in a multitude of colours from the various plants being grown there. Scir was truly an agricultural paradise, with perfect climate and fertile soil, kept by skilled farmers - some had called it the Granary of the Union, an exaggeration, but not entirely unjustified.

The vessel set down in the space port in the capital city, landing on a floating platform that was connected to the main hallway through a narrow stairway, domed over by a glass tunnel that allowed the arriving parties safe passage inside while still having maximum visibility of the city.

At the platform, a greeter was waiting for them. This being a ceremonial function, the greeter merely greeted the Jedi and walked them to a waiting transport that in turn took them to an imposing looking government building where Senator Lophos was anxiously awaiting them.

"Ah, Jedi, so good of you to come so swiftly." he greeted them. "Please, come inside with me, there is much to discuss and I do not want anyone listening in on us. None of you wear trackers or recording devices I trust?"

[Shebi Ajava]

Shebi Ajava bowed to the senator and stepped inside. She clearly took off her communication headset.

"You can speak freely, senator."

[Nathan Miodrass Asillion]

Nathan saluted the senator and followed Shebi Ajava inside. He then dissabled his wireless connections.

"I have isolated myself from any network or comm signal and have engaged my confidential memory routine. Nothing I see or hear can be accest by anyone but myself, senator." He said, as he couldn't take off his eyes or ears.

Nalan looked strangely at the cyborg Jedi called Nathan. He was one of the few Cyborg jedi she ever came across and was curious about how it would work. But this kind of prying would have to wait for now.

"Yes senator, all will be handled discretely"

"Nothing which is activated or to be worried about."

[Ariana Danacia]

Ariana wondered why they asked such questions.

"No active trackers or recording devices. What is the problem?"

[Representative Lophos of the Interregnum Democracy of Scir]

"Thank you. " The senator seemed much relieved now that they were secure.

"I know some of your worlds function differently, but it is the belief of our people that to give power to any one person to make decisions for many is the utmost folly. One mind can only know so much after all.

But deeper than this, nothing can give one person the right to rule over another person with impunity. A society is something we form together - it is not formed by any one person, no matter how smart or wise.

As you no doubt know, the Interregnum Democracy of Scir is one of the oldest democracies in the Union. We have mandatory voting for all citizens, and as a result it is the people who rule Scir, not through corruptible representatives, but through an actual direct and democratic process. It has been this way for almost a millennium."

the senator explained his worlds form of government.

"But, as long as this situation has existed, it has not always been this way.

Like Komes, Meritonia and Suma, our world was once a kingdom, with a royal family ruling over all the lands, determining right and wrong, who lives and who dies and which groups prosper and which suffer. A most undesirable situation resulting in a lot of suffering, dying and wrongdoing.

Long ago, King Pometia the Last and the entire royal family disappeared, presumably killed by heroic revolutionaries, clearing the way for our true direct democracy. Of course, at the time the people were left in confusion - we had always been ruled by our kings and they had always claimed inherited divine right as the reason for their power.

To overcome this confusion, it was decided then that the best way to help the people transition to a democracy was to announce that since the king was the only one with the divine right and insight to rule - an established fact at the time amongst the population - no one person could possibly replace them. As nobody could rule, yet leadership was needed, the responsibility of leadership would be shared by all people in our lands until the divinely appointed king returned. Hence we became the 'Interregnum Democracy of Scir'.

This idea, that only a king could rule our people by himself and that without a king we had to make all decisions together, has been the foundation of our direct democracy for almost a millennium."

He paused a moment.

"So as I am sure you can imagine, the arrival of a ship last week at the Royal Palace claiming to carry a descendent of King Pometia - who is demanding that control of the planet be returned to them, exactly as encoded in the oldest laws that form the basis of our democracy - is a bit of a problem."

Nathan was slightly confused. He had expected a mission briefing, not a lesson in the history of the Interregnum Democracy of Scir. Luckely he was quick to adapt.

After the senator had finished, he started to speak. "I'll get straight to the point, senator. What is it exactly what you want us to do?" he said. "Do you want us to verify their claim? Or do you want a solution? And if so, how permanent of a solution are we talking about?" Emphesising the word 'permanent' so that it would be clear what he ment.

He didn't like playing the devil's advocate but someone had to. And it was one of the quickest ways to deal with the problem.

"I like your government system, and it would be a shame if you would loose it. Before this mission, I had no idea of other worlds using a similar government as ours." The cyborg paused for a moment, his aperture closed and opened, like he had to think a moment, "If I am correct, you are not allowed to tell us what to do, because that would imply that you would decide over your people. And yet, you would like a peaceful solution out of here which will grand the best future for your people?"

Before the senator of Scir could answer: "And that is where we come in, an independent group who has sworn to keep the peace."

Before Ariana spoke she hesitated for a moment. The others might have already said too much. At the moment Ariana had nothing to add.

The only thing she said was: "I see, an interesting situation."

"What has been done to very the claim?", she asked the senator.
