[T'Sal]

As there were not many scientists among the Jedi, the science labs are not at the Jedi temple (there are only some for teaching and simple experiments). For doing research the Jedi have their own building not for from the temple. The Jedi research institutes has everything they need but the budget is a bit limited. They are 4 wing with 4 labs for chemistry, physics, biological and other research. The labs are fully equipped and there are some droids to do experiments.

There are 18 scientists among the Jedi order at Union planet. There are 4 divisions in accordance with the 4 labs (chemistry, physics, biology and other). Each section has its own head followed by the other scientist. Not only Jedi work here but there are about fifty science assistants and researcher to do research on various topics. Furthermore are some technicians and staff. The size of each division is proportion to the number of Jedi involved in the field. The chemistry and other division are the largest with 6 and 5, followed by biology 4 and physics 3.

T’sal does research on transatomic physics; this involves the study time delation on particles smaller then atoms and their effects. Time is relative and gravity and speed have effect on time perception and aging in space.

In half a year the five year annual big science conference is being hold in the capital city Mya of the Hiocan Society. On various subject presentation are giving after which follows a thorough question round. T’sal has been invited to give a presentation, this is quite an honor as she is quite young and a presentation is considered a publication. The subject is "Further defining time delation; the influence of speed and gravity on the time perception and effect on various materials". The facilities of the Jedi are outstanding but she needed to do some final experiments at her farther research institute to be able to withstand all the questions.

T’sal had asked the Jedi council for permission for her sabbatical and was now making the last preparations, finishing all her tasks at the Union academy, getting a training schedule, packing etc.

((OOC: Hmm , when I read all this it seems fitting for my research NPC to help you along. but before stuff gets posted. solo missions are indeed nice to explore and mostly expend ones background. but how do you see this happening. you want the storytellers to help you with NPC and give you a mission suited in this area. or you going to treat this more as a novel book and write your own story/mission?))

((OOC: The story will be like a novel as I cannot play my own NPCs and this is background. Storytellers are free to play characters I describe like my dad or create new ones (If you need pictures I download already loads of vulcans (Hiocans)) and then we can role-play like normal. I do not what to take to much time of you as this kind of person and I do not see how this can be a real mission. I already got some things in mind that are going to happen (see new Hiocan cultural page).

I have send Mercury PM about it and he said it is okay and suggested some changes for the Jedi science part, as this might be important for future role play.

The science conference will be IC announced and invitations will be send to other factions.))

((OOC: Well a good novel style read is always a nice break from the normal missions of course. And if you need NPC's I am also willing to help out. In the meantime I am looking forward on how this will develop and make an example for other players to perhaps try it for them self as well.))

It takes T’sal some time to pack all her stuff. She will bring some of her sample en scientific equipment with her. She had made arrangements with the Hiocan embassy; they had helped her with getting the permission and the paperwork done.

After eating lunch the doorbell rings. Penelope Christiansen is at the door, she also works at the Jedi institutes as one of the assistants working on the laser equipment. They were quite close as there are not so many females in the physics department. She is kind of like a mother to T’sal. Her hover trunk stands outside, ready to be loaded.

With the help of the force the packing is soon finished. Together they drive to the Jedi Institute were S4 is waiting with some small equipment en all the sample T’sal wants to test at her dads lab. Whoosh, whoosh and the truck is fully loaded. They continued the trip towards the embassy building. Arriving at the Union building they parks next it. Penelope and S4 stay at the truck while T’sal picks up the documents.

As the Hiocan Society is a minor world of the Union they do not have their own embassy. Together with some other faction they shared the building. T’sal registers at the reception, moves through the security quickly as they had an announcement of her arrival.

The entrance hall is large with a fountain in the middle. There is a patio with restaurant on ground floor. T’sal walks towards the elevator and goes up. On the third floor she leaves and walks along the corridors filled with various pieces of art towards the Hiocan Embassy.

The Hiocan Embassy is simple but elegant and there is everything you need. Upon entering she is welcomed by the secretary.

“You are early; I have not yet finished the packet that I want to give you to deliver. It are just some senate papers and other documents. As you are going to Hio, I thought that you could take it with you. That way they will be safely delivered to our embassy there. Would you do that? And could you wait, while I finish it off. Please take a seat.”

The secretary speaks quickly and bows while doing so.

“No problem, they ships leaves not within 4 hours.”

T’sal takes a seat and looks around and waited. The secretary went to another office to get papers and pack them up.

[Senator Harek]

While T’sal is waiting senator Harek enters the Embassy. When he see her he greets her and starts smiling.

“Ah, padawan T’sal nice to see you here. I heard that you needed to do some final experiments. I hope your last preparations go well and you give a splendid presentation on our 1st intergalactic science conference.

We are proud of you. Quite some factions have already accepted the invitation. I hope it will be a great success and improve the relationship between various members of the Union.

Sorry, but I have to continue my Senate responsibilities.”

With that he leaves.

The secretary is ready and gives T’sal quite some forms and a package. T’sal takes it and gets back to the hover truck.

“You got everything T’sal ”says Penelope.T’sal smiles and nods. “Okay, time to get going."

The hover truck moves steadily through the traffic upwards to the space docks. They go to the gate and upon showing the papers they could continue to the spaceship to deliver the cargo. T’sal watches to see that everything is secured. S4 will stay with the scientific equipment while T’sal holds onto the papers and the package.

T’sal goes to Penelope to say goodbye. “I will miss you, and the rest of the physics department. Take good care of everything.” And she gives Penelope a hug, while S4 makes a few beeping sounds.

“Just go to your family and do research. Show them what you learned and you will be fine. Make this a nice small holiday. See you at the conference, we will all be coming.” says Penelope. She gets back in the truck and drives away.

T’sal put her headset on as to stay in contact with S4 and walks to the passenger’s area. Her luggage hovers next to her. It is a big passenger/trade ship. T’sal takes her time to look around. There are quite some Hiocans on board, but also other races and droids.

T’sal goes to her quarters and unpacks her clothes. The cabin was small, but had everyting she needed. She put the papers, package and her datapad in a shoulder bag and goes towards the deck. T’sal moves to the railing and looks over Unity city. She enjoys the view and waits for the ship to depart.

The engines start running and slowing the ships moves upwards and turns. It starts acceleration until they are out of the dome. The ships then jumps to hyperspace and they are on their way. T’sal goes to check out S4 and the cargo.

“S4 is the equipment fine?”

“Yes, miss. Everything is safe and secure.” says S4 in a mechanical voice.

T’sal walks back inside and goes towards the lounge area. She takes a comfortable chair and settles down. She takes her datapad and starts readings.

T’sal travels in a big passenger and cargo ship. The trip wil be like a cruise, taking some time to travel, but you can do various things on board.

It has been quite some time since T’sal had seen her family. Four and a half year of jedi training have past. She wondered how her dad is doing now, all alone. She calls him every few months, but he talks more about the research then himself. She has to see it for herself.

While reading in the lounge room some men are observing T’sal from a corner. They seem to be interested in the package that she has with her. T’sal notices them as they did not look outside like the rest when they passed through a colorful Nebula. She acts like she has not noticed them.

T’sal wants to get of them without creating a scene so she looks around the lounge to see if there is something she can use. At the bar there is a mirror which is positioned perfect for taking a picture with her camera while ordering a drink. T’sal actually wants some family pictures, but catching those suspicious men is more important.

Acting normally T’sal makes some calculation on her datapad as to install the right setting on her camera. Luckily, she is a physicist and know she optics. Now it is time to set her plan into motion. Pretending to search for her wallet T’sal readies her camera. She grabs her stuff and then walks to the bar. She orders a fruit juice and while chatting and drinking at the bar the camera films the men. While finishing her drink there is an announcement.

“Ding dong.

Ladies and gentlemen in 15 minutes the on board entertainment show will begin in the grand plaza. If you want to watch please enter on time as the doors will close once the show begins.

Dong ding.”

This sounds like fun. T’sal goes to the exit and walks through the hall. Quite a crowd is joining her towards the grand plaza. But she notices that the men following her. When she turns a corner, she moves towards the sides and hides herself. The men pas T’sal, stop to look for her and then continue on. She sneaks up behind them through the crowd. Now it is time to get them off her back. Whispering to them from behind while using the force:

“The girl does not have what you are looking for. You should go back.”

Deceiving people with a jedi mindtrick was not always nice, but pretty damn useful if you wanted to accomplish something. This should get rid of her stalkers and she could enjoy her evening.

Upon entering T’sal sees that the grand plaza is almost filled. She takes a seat at a table and orders another fruit juice. After a few minutes the hall darkens and the music starts to play. People are singing, dancing, doing acrobatics tricks etc. It is a splendid evening.

The rest of the journey is quite uneventful. After a week Hio, a big red globe, comes finally into view. T’sal gets all excited memories are passing by, she is finally getting home. After landing T’sal goes to the cargo room.

“So S4 how was your stay here in the cargo room?”

S4 looks to her and answer. “Some animals got loose, beep. And I had to help catch them. So I had so fun, beep. The equipment is fine. “

“Hihihi. I had some stalkers, but I ditched them. I also had fun, the on board show was fabulous.”

The crew starts uploading the equipment and they walk outside into the heat.

“TUUUT, TUUTT, TUUUUUTTT!!!”

Someone honked the car quite often. When they move on they see a little kid is playing on the horn. Next to the car stands her father and her aunt. T’sal starts waving and walks towards them.

“There is my little girl.” says her father while he hugs her.

“Hi dad, I missed you. I learned a lot and my presentation preparations are going good.”

Her father Kuroc answers. “That is great darling. You sure have grown and look more like your mother.”

When her dad releases T’sal, she has time to greet and hug her aunt.

“Good day Aunt T’Risa how are you? And you it this little fellow, ah gauchie gu.”

She gives her aunt a hug and strokes the baby boy.

“This is my son Yanik, he is now half a year and he starts crawling around. You can hold onto him in the car if you want.”

T’sal smiles and then put her stuff in the car and sits in back of the car with Yanik on her lap. She is playing with him like she has not done in a long time, childish and free of worries. Aunt T’Risa drive to the embassy and T'sal delivers the package. And then they continue their travel home. Mya is a big city and was surrounded by other cities that supported it. T'sal family lives in the support city Alam’rak which is at the south end and the ride is quite long. The evening starts to fall and they stop at their usual restaurant. T’sal really enjoys her first real Hiocan dinner. After a nice break they drive the last part home.

A hour later they arrive at a little valley. It is a neighborhood community and is like a small town within the city. There is a town square with a fountain and the council building. In each wind direction is a big estate of the families that live there and in between are room houses for the other citizens. In the west lies their estate with a big dojo. There is a welcoming party, there are tables outside and lanterns are hanging on ropes on poles around the tables. T’sal is welcomed by her grandfather and the uncle. They help her unpack her own stuff and store her science stuff in her fathers small personal lab. Then it is time for the family reunion party.

The next morning T’sal joins her grandfather Hanak and the other martial artists in their morning practice. After running an hour they continue with practicing moves. T’sal does not know many suus mahna moves just the basics, but she performs them perfectly. For special moves she would need to go to another dojo as this her family consists of telepaths and she is a telekinesist. This is strange as both her farther and her mother side mainly consist of telepaths and normal people. Her mother was a telepath and her father did not have a power but is extremely good in science instead. T’sal has inherited that from him, but she looked more like her mother. After these warming up practices they are ready to spar.

“It seems like my granddaughter has grown not only in size and beauty but also in strength” grandfather says “Let’s see if you can defeat your uncle.” He smiles at T’sal.

T’sals uncle Elroc is her father’s brother and he has clearly inherited the fighting spirit and body. He will be a tough opponent but she has the force on her side. In the beginning T’sal has some problems adapting to real martial arts combat instead of Jedi light saber combat. Uncle Elroc wins the first turn quite easily as he unbalances her quickly. The second turn goes better, it is an even fight. T’sal uncle seems to have the advantage due to his great strength and fitness, but T’sal escapes by force jumping and tumbling around. They continue on for quite some time and move around the garden. Upon arriving at some rock formations T’sal takes cover behind them. T’sal takes a good look around and tries to come up with a plan to defeat her uncle. She decides to lure him into a dead-end and then use her telekinesis to block the way back with rocks. She can than jump out and attack him from higher ground. It takes T’sal some time to prepare but she manages to pull it off. When her uncle thinks he has her in the dead end T’sal jumps up and attacks him. Elroc stumbles over some of the rocks that are rolling his way and is off balance. T’sal uses this opportunity to finish the fight and makes a hug attack.

“Finally, got you uncle.” Says T’sal and they then fall togetheron the ground exhausted. “Yes, you do.” Says uncle Elroc while hugging her back. “Let’s return and have some breakfast.”

On their way back they see that the others already have finished and left. They quickly change their cloths and join the rest of the family. The rest of the day T’sal spends with her father in the small lab. They talk for hours about the science and the latest developments in the field. After dinner they go take a walk in the garden. It is mostly rocky with some cacti. But there is a small alcove with a fountain, a small grass field, bushes, trees and a flower bed.

Kuroc says “Your mother really liked this place, with her green hands she has made this place bloom.” He goes over and plucks a Hiocan rose and puts it behind T’sal ear. “Now you really look like her. I really miss her and you joining the Jedi order did not make it easier. It is good to have you back.” They then sit down and talk about the past. The stars start shining and the memories seem to light as well. When it is midnight they retire.

((OOC: Quite some story and there is still way more. But I think I have to keep it shorter next time. Btw if people want to uses any of the characters just let me know. (Little nephew Yanik is destined to become an Jedi initiative, but that will take some years) Later in the story I would like to have a returning character and am looking for someone to play him. Let me know if your are interested.))

The next morning it is time to move everything to the lab and get everything ready. T’sal goes together with her father to work. At the research institute they install the equipment during which various colleges come to help en have a chat. Most of them have known her sins she was small and she knows their research. At the end of the day T’sal is up to date and everything is ready to use. There are driving back home when her father starts the conservation.

“T’sal the sun is about to turn red.”

T’sal looks surprised and checks outside but only sees an orange sun. She looks suspicious to her father.

“It is orange and there are no clouds, so why would it turn red?”

“Because you go to the next stage of life.” He says smiling.

Then it hit T’sal the Kauki rituals were coming and she would become a pre-adolescent.

“I assume you already arranged everything as they should start this weekend, even mother necklace?”

“Of course everything is settled for my almost young lady. I have arranged a few days off, with your intelligence you will not fall behind with the research. The Kauki council has given you a special status as you are a Jedi padawan and adapted the level of the tests. I talked it through with your aunt and we made a trainings program so your will be up to date on general Hiocan knowledge and can practice the ritual procedures.”

T’sal is not sure what to think of it. She actually wanted to really get started with her research. But she could not deny that she is Hiocan so she has to participate. She would probably see all her old school friends so it would become quite fun.
