[ Sector 15 -10 ] Escort to the Slave Rebellion
"We don't have to lie to them. We are not a scout ship.
We can tell them that we are Jedi and that we are on a diplomatic mission. We should simply request permission to enter Slave Rebellion territory. We don't have to tell them everything."

"We have no reason to lie, or otherwise hide our identity" Darones offered, "In fact it is highly likely that they are our escort, but do not recognize us and that our disguise as a trade vessel is indeed doing its job. As we were to meet an escort in this region, and so far this is to only vessel visible on sensors, it would be safe to assume that they are indeed our escort. We should identity ourselves and declare the diplomatic intent of our mission, if things go awry we can always try to escape. "
With that Darones opened a channel to communicate with the Sacred Vendetta and identified their ship and explained their purpose here.
"Sacred Vendetta, this is the Union vessel Pratenik. We are here on a diplomatic relief effort, carrying the Union representative for negotiations in the Hellia system. We were instructed to rendezvous with our escort here."
For now Darones left it at that as he waited for a response from the bigger ship. So far he had only adjusted their speed and their weapons were not armed, but he was ready to make adjustments to their course and speed, so that they could defend themselves should that be necessary.

The empress was blissfully unaware of what was going on, as she was in her quarters together with lady Nehket Tzulan. Two handmaidens were guarding the door from the outside, to prevent anyone from rudely interrupting her imperial highness.
The others in the empress' retinue could be found in their respective quarters, while the other two handmaidens were with the jedi on the bridge of the little cargo freighter.

"It appears the rumours of gold-plated star destroyers from the Union are somewhat exaggerated. Welcome to Rebellion territory, Pratenik, please..."
There was a pause, then the voice of an older male took over.
"This is Admiral Efy'arn. Praternik, please proceed to dock in docking bay 2 so the Empress can arrive at her destination in a proper ship. We cannot have a foreign representative show up on one of our worlds in a rust bucket."
With the message came an automatic request for a coordinate synchronization so the automatic guidance system of the Sacred Vendetta would be able to assist the Pilot in the landing.

Ariana activated the intercom of the ship. "We have arrived at our rendezvous location and are preparing to dock in the Slave Rebellion vessel the Sacred Vendetta. The Sacred Vendetta will bring us to our destination. Prepare for landing."
The two handmaidens on the bridge exchanged a glance. Both their expressions turned darker, as one took of toward the quarters of the empress at a brisk pace.

"Thank you Sacred Vendetta, we'll be setting down shortly"
Darones set the ship down in the docking bay 2 of the Sacred Vendetta, while he considered the remarks made by Admiral Efy'arn.
It was true that this ship wasn't the most presentable for a representative of the Union and perhaps they had been over cautious in their concerns for the Empress' her safety. However Darones still believed that the appearance of their vessel had contributed a great deal to the fact that their journey had been without any problems what so ever.
Perhaps the Empress could have travelled in her own yacht, or a similar vessel, which would be more presentable, but possibility a high potential target for pirates or other ill-willed parties. Now they would never know...

((OOC: The Sacred Vendetta asked for a crew manifest to confirm the identity of the people on the ship. I am presuming you sent this to them.))
The ship set down in the Sacred Vendetta's docking bay safely, and an honour guard rolled out a red carpet, standing at attention to greet the Veolian Empress and her escort.
Normally, the greeting of visitors was done by a lower flag officer as the highest ranking officer on board a ship the size of a Star Destroyer was presumed to be too busy to do greetings. In case the officer needed to see the visitor, the visitor would be taken to them.
In this case, the Admiral had chosen to come down himself to greet the Veolian Empress, which was a clear note of respect.
As the Veolian delegation stepped out of the ship, a quick scan was performed by a security official, checking if people listed on the manifest matched the people who were actually here. Having a fake empress or an assassin disguised as a Jedi simply wouldn't do and the Slave Rebellion was at war with the Hutt so it wasn't exactly something that was impossible.
Of course, everyone being who they say they were, the scan was completed quickly and without incident.
"Welcome on the Sacred Vendetta, Empress." the Admiral greeted the Veolian delegation "And welcome to your people and your Jedi escort as well." he did not bow, but offered a nod in greeting instead.
"Please allow me the honour of escorting you to the observation deck as our ship makes the final jump. We will be landing at our destination in roughly an hour and a half." he explained, motioning to lead the way to what would probably be the observation deck.

The empress was happy to leave the small ship she was housed in the last few days. Both of her slaves were immediately following the empress, with the rest of her entourage following after that. The handmaidens' stayed close to the entourage, and seemed to be very wary. Observant individuals would've seen the subtle exchange between one of the handmaidens and the empress, as the empress was about to be scanned one of the handmaidens was held back by the empress -- it wasn't clear what she was going to do.
The empress and her entourage had no objections to the scan, and allowed themselves to be scanned. Depending on the sensitivity of the scan the handmaidens might offer some uncommon readings as some the handmaidens' implants employ active hiding methods to hide themselves from scans.
"Admiral Efy'arn, thank you for your hospitality.", the empress said after a curt nod. "We would love to to see the sparkle of a hyperspace jump from the observation deck."

Ariana followed the Empress to the observation deck. She tried to stay within 10 meters of the Empress at all times. During the trip she carefully observed the surroundings making sure nothing was wrong.((Check: 7 = 4 Force Level + 3 Vision -- ))

((OOC: It's been over a week, I'm moving the storyline ahead to the next encounter.))
The Jedi sensed that there was a tension amongst the people here, but perhaps that was to be expected with a foreign diplomat present - no doubt the Slave Rebellion troops, their nation being at war, were not used to serving ceremonial functions.
Soon the group arrived at the observation deck, which featured a central flower bed, benches and an array of large windows that offered a view of space. With a tremble that had more of a place in a derelict freighter than a war-ready star destroyer, the ship jumped into hyperspace, the sparkles and elongated lights shooting past.
It was but a short jump, as the ship soon dropped out of hyperspace once more. Before them lay a red pearl with patches of blue and rings of green around the poles. Flying towards one of them, a red light started to burn around the windows, a male announcing something in Ryl through the speaker system
"Amersu'nadira Tar"
The admiral explained "Hold on, we're going in for landing."
That was quite an unusual thing to do with a Star Destroyer, but the crew of this vessel seemed to consider it normal. This was probably an older model Star Destroyer from before the end of the times of chaos, when travel was usually local and thus landing was a relevant ability.
The warning the admiral had given was pretty much unnecessary as unlike the jump into hyperspace, the landing itself was entirely smooth and soon the ship was settled down in the spaceport.

As the admiral led the way to the exit, a docking tube extended up to the ship from the space port, locking in with the enormous vessel to allow pressure and gravity to be equalized and more importantly to allow people to exit the ship easily.
At the end of the docking tube an honour guard had been placed, making an obvious path from the ship towards one of the side buildings.
It was notable that besides the honour guard, there was absolutely nobody here. No droids, no crew, no other travellers. It seemed as if the slave rebellion had taken careful time to clear out any unwanted elements and had been a tad too diligent in this duty.
This changed as soon as they entered the side building, a large round stone structure - apparently people here actually built with stone rather than composite materials and durasteel - with a cyan roof. Here, a company of three large Twi'leks, each looking like they should have stopped eating fast food years ago and notably having not two but four head-tails.
"Greetings your Highness! Welcome you to our humble planet." the central figure spoke.
"My name is Firith'Valla, First Governor of this world." apparently that was some sort of title. "This is Second Governor Nawar'avalla" he motioned to his right "and Third Governor Kar'awnvalla.
I understand you brought a Jedi escort, please allow me to welcome them as well. The Jedi have quite a reputation and I hope that the good half is earned and the bad half undeserved."
No doubt the Jedi were not as well known here as they were in the Union, thus the Chinese whisper rule probably applied. Whether that was a good or a bad thing was impossible to tell, but the man seemed genuine in his welcoming them at least.
"And of course a warm welcome to your entourage as well whom I have no doubt are as important and skilled as they are beautiful."
So far, things seemed to be going well.
"And as I understand from the crew manifest, you have brought two slaves to our world as well. May I offer the suggestion that they be liberated? It is sort of a tradition amongst our people that any slave that crosses our border is freed."

The empress' entourage, and her slaves, seemed a bit surprised by the bold suggestion of freeing the slaves.
Lady Dewa Misaki, the oldest and most important of the empress' ladies-in-waiting, stepped forward. As a traditional hemet veolian, she decided to adhere to the proper protocol, to ensure that everyone understood the position of the empress.
"Greetings, governors Firith'Valla, Nawar'avalla and Kar'awnvalla", she said, while paying careful attention to the pronunciation of the names. "Allow me to introduced Her Imperial Majesty the First Empress Consort of Veolia, Saret Neferti."
The empress nodded toward the governors, and spoke.
"Governors, it is an honour to be received by those of your station. I look forward to the talks with the representatives of the Slave Rebellion, and I am happy that you are willing to thost these on your world.
While I admire your dedication and the boldness of posing such a suggestion, I see little reason to free my belongings. It would be a waste of their talents."

"Ooh, I see..." he looked like this was an awkward moment - the Jedi too felt a ripple going through the force, as if events had been set into motion. "I'm afraid in that case, you leave me with very little choice."
At a motion of First Governor Firith'Valla, suddenly the honour guard raised their blaster rifles, taking aim at the Jedi, the Empress and her escort and moving in to surround them.
"Empress Saret Neferti, you are under arrest on charges of practising slavery. If you do not resist, we may be able to spare your life."

Darones Rei - PC
Darones had not missed the ripple in the force, he took it as a warning, a hint of something important that was about to happen. As the honour guard took aim and raises their rifles at the hint of the First Governor, Darones dropped his cloack so that he could move more freely and his sabers would be within reach if he would need them.
"First Governor," Darones said as he spoke, his voice a little high but steady and determined,
"I urge you to carefully consider the things that you are about to do and the consequences they might entail. Thus far there has not been any conflict between your nation and the Union, moreover the Union has send aid and supplies, provided shelter and protection for refugees. Do you really wish to risk yet another conflict, over a matter that, as I understand it, is mainly a matter of interpretation.
While I am still very young and have much to learn, I too understand the importance of one's word. The Empress has come here, in peace, to negotiate treaty, to forge an understanding and in doing so hoping to achieve peace and stability for all. My fellow Jedi and myself are tasked with the Empress' protection, and we will protect her should that be needed."
Darones looked around the room and let his gaze rest on each of the Governors and the Empress as he continued,
"I implore you to see reason and consider the goals of this meeting, and not to risk the loss of many innocent lives .. "

"We must be able to discuss this situation as civilized people. We do not want to fight you, but we will defend ourselves."
Ariana telepathicly contacted the Empress: Maybe Shandryss or Tayu Shanora can explain what the real situation is? These people do not know the Veolian Culture, they only know what the Hutt are capable of.
Ariana reached for her belt and kept her claws on her lightsabers, ready to draw them at any moment.

Shaedys raised his hands in front of his chest, palms spread open as to make a stop sign.
"Hold on, don't be so rash. We do not want this to come to a fight as soon as we land, this is not why we came here. As civilized people far past the times of chaos we can talk about this, I'm sure the Veolian delegation can convince you too, as they have most of the union why slavery, for lack of a better term, in the Veolian Commonwealth is much, much different and from that practiced by the Hutt. I'm sure her servants wouldn't even want to be free."
Keeping his hands raised to try and calm the situation, while being prepared to draw his lightsabers quickly.

The moment the honour guard raised their weapons three of the handmaidens drew their weapons, and quickly moved to shield the empress from fire from the honour guard. The fourth handmaiden drew her blaster as well, but instead moved to protect the empress' slaves.
The empress, now flanked by three handmaidens, seemed a bit taken aback.
"Governors", a female voice said. It wasn't the empress, but her Twi'lek slave.

Tayu Shanora - PC
She continued speaking as she took another step towards the governor.
"You are making a mistake.", she said in galactic basic. "The woman you accuse of slavery is the empress of one of the few worlds in the Union that was willing to house Twi'lek refugees from sector 17 -9. A billion of your people, all offered housing and jobs and medical care. Not because they see a population of fleeing slaves, but because they believe the Hutt are barbarians, and the Slave Rebellion is right to oppose them with force.
Her world, the Veolian Commonwealth, has offered one of your officers asylum even after the Hutt had shown they would strike at those that helped the Rebellion. My mistress volunteered to travel to the Slave Rebellion, to speak with you about a treaty and possibly about economic support. She knew that this would most likely draw a response from the Hutt. She knew the risk, and yet she came.
I am glad that I am my mistress' property. It offers me ways to improve myself that I would never have had otherwise. I represent her in ways a normal servant could never do. You should not accuse her of things you know little of, and you certainly should not liken my mistress to the brutish Hutt."
Suddenly, the Twi'lek woman snapped her fan close, and looked the first governor in the eyes. She spoke in clear and fluent Ryl: "Should you really wish to follow through with this foolish plan, you will have to use violence against me as well, because I will never leave my mistress' side."

"We have sacrificed our brothers, our sisters, our fathers, our mothers, our sons and our daughters to end slavery. Each of the men in our armies, and each man holding a rifle here has sworn to give their lives to end the ownership of people and bring freedom in its stead - all of them have lost family, friends and loved ones in the wake of the war."
Despite his calm voice , the Jedi could sense his anger.
"Those who have fallen to the Hutt have suffered faiths far worse than death and countless more have been raped, tortured and murdered not because they resisted but because others did. If you cannot begin to understand the horrors that slavery brings you will have to be forgiving if one who does understand is not so concerned by the details and semantics of how that slavery is practised. You say the Veolians are the good kind of slavers? I say the only good kind of slaver is a dead slaver."
In the last part, he did not hide his hatred.
"You say I do not know the Veolian ways," the First Governor stated once again calmly "yet you cross our border, enter our territory and set foot on our planet, all the while carrying slaves with you. You say I should carefully consider my actions? Perhaps you should have done the same. Perhaps it is you who does not know our ways.
Now when you entered I suggested the slaves you brought with you might be liberated. Because of my respect for those above me, I will extend the offer to you again."
The Jedi got the sense that whomever "those above him" were, they were the sole reason the governor was still talking with them in the first place. His hatred for slavers burned strong within his soul.
"I urge you all to confer with one another and take the human child's advice: to carefully consider the things that you are about to do and the consequences they might entail."

"There is a lot of anger in this place." Ariana whispered to the group.
Ariana waited for the Empress to speak. It was not her place to defend Veolian culture. She did not want to escalate the situation any further.

Shaedys - PC
Shaedys could sense the anger from the governor, realising that this could not be talked down peacefully, but would probably soon erupt in a conflict.
He then looked the governor straight in the eye with a calm and calculated look on his face, channelling the force to implant the idea that Shaedys was not going to take an offensive action right now and would remain peaceful, not being something to be feared ((Check: 10 = 5 Force Level + 4 Intuition + 1 Mind Trick -- )).
Shaedys then walked calmly over to the empress and joined the three handmaidens, all the while having held his hands in front of his chest he would now slowly lower his hands to besides his hips and grip the handles of his lightsabers. His primary mission was to protect the empress, and he would stand close to her and be ready to deflect danger if a fight erupted.
((OOC: I made the check with Intuition because "Any check made in dealing with emotional beings or finding hidden information is an Intuition check." and I think this falls under dealing with an emotional being. Perhaps this is incorrect and it should be energy(I have 3) instead, and the check total will be 9.))

Darones had said everything he wanted to say on the matter, and he didn't want to risk an insult or offer a suggestion that could be interpretated the wrong way. He would now leave the matter to the Empress herself as he took a step back and prepared to defended himself and the Empress if need be.

The empress' entourage looked slightly confused by the current situation, and would probably be of little help in case of an armed fight. Shandryss, the human belonging of the empress seemed the most distressed. Tayu Shanora, stood defiantly between the first governor and the empress, blocking the governors view of the empress. It wasn't clear whether this was on purpose, or just a side effect of the way she approached him.
The empress herself was the image of calm and control -- even while flanked by three of her handmaidens and Shaedys she was capable of appearing majestic. Of course, it helped that the handmaidens positioned themselves in combat-effective but clearly subservient positions.
"First governor", the empress started, "We came here to see for ourselves the situation in the Slave Rebellion, and what we have seen is not good. Your territory is threatened, and your people are fleeing. The Hutt broke into sector 17 -9, and will most likely continue their successful campaign.
You need construction materials, food, healthcare products, weapons and ships. You need allies.
We came here to see how we could aid the Slave Rebellion, as we wish to oppose the Hutt and their barbaric way of mistreating their slaves. But instead of at least hearing what we have to offer, you plan to execute us. It seems your desire for the destruction of those not following your social order is larger than your desire to care for your people.
You have given me no reason to trust you, and what little trust admiral Efy'arn created, you betrayed with but a gesture. If I were to liberate my belongings, what guarantees do I have that they will be cared for? Will you actually allow them to make their own choices, or will you choose for them, with violence if necessary?
I think that you would force them to remain here, to live the rest of their lives in poverty and bad health, possibly even while being forced to earn their keep by doing physical labour.
I can not allow this, so we shall take our leave and return to the Union, where I will see to the construction of more refugee housing and healthcare, as it will be needed."
"Jedi, please escort me back to the Union. We are done here.", the empress turned to walk back to the star destroyer, completely ignoring the fact that the honour guard blocked the way.

The First Governor raised his hand as if he was about to order his men to take everyone into custody or even to open fire, but the Second and Third governor both motioned with their Lekku, indicating that they did not support this move. Slowly he lowered his hand as the troops moved aside to let the Empress and her people return towards the Star Destroyer where there ship was waiting.
