[ Sector 6 -8 ] retrieval of teachings
- Evermourne
- Storyteller
The Jedi Council has put out a new mission for Jedi Padawans - retrieval of teachings, not too long ago a group of excavators have found some lost jedi artifacts in sector 6 - 8. the artifacts are beeing studied by a local group of scolars and they requested jedi assistance for the retrieval of the artifact. since this sector borders between the Echani and The Mandalorian Fleets there are certain risks attached to this mission. The Jedi Council suggests that a group of three take on this task. people who are interrested can report themselfs to Jedi Councilor Gri'pan in the Jedi Tempel.
((OOC: this will be my first adventure for this forum. so please excuse me if i sometimes do some weird things or dont explain things too well. please tip in OOC if you find something hard to understand. this adventure will be in a 1 post a week speed))

((OOC:
yes i realized this afther i made my poist that i did not mention anything about rewards. since this entire forum playing is rather new to me (in the sense that it actually works with character sheets and stuff) i find it hard to bind a reward to this adventure. though there obviously will be one. but since i dont know how long and complex it will become its hard to say. for now i will mimic the other adventure's and say there will be at least 1 or 2 skill points awarded judging on the amount of RP and complexity of the adventure. and for me i also dont know if i can allready make an reply for this weekend. i am busy a lot myself. just see when everyone is able.))

Shebi Ajava - PC
Shebi Ajava indicates her willingsness to take on this mission.
However, she indicates her preference is with other activities at this moment.
((OOC: If someone else wants to go, please go! I will only go in case no one else is interested.))

T'Sal - PC
T’sal signs up for the mission. She likes investigation being a scientist. Her main field is physics and to be precise she studies transatomic physics. But she also got quite some knowledge on history.
Sector 6, -8 is not so far from her home world and she suggests leaving from there (My’enru system). They could get the latest new on the Echani and the Mandalorian fleet before their departure.
T’sal then goes to the library to find as much information as possible which might be useful (history of sector, languages translators, climate, politics etc.)

((OOC: the current party setup will be used for this adventure. please allow me to make a big opening post which will be up soon.))
((OOC: You are aware that only three days have passed since the mission was announced?
I understand you're eager to start, but you might want to consider leaving the registration open for a few more days (especially if the posting frequency is to be one post per week). That way other players actually have a chance at participating in my stead.
I've got an important deadline coming up at work, Military rules to finish, and I'm reasonably sure that I (as a player of multiple characters) will be participating in at least two other stories already. So I'd rather let someone that is able to invest more time in the story play this one -- I assume there will be more stories told by you, so I'll participate in a later one ^_^
Yes, I'm looking at you Nebesnogo, Saron Itho, Darones or Ariana...
EDIT: Sorry for the OOC-heavy start of the IC story... @Mercury: maybe some cleanup of OOC posts is in order here?))

((OOC: well i was going to wait longer. I admit that my choice of words was not that handy. the only thing i wanted was to " lock " from people continue before i made the first official opening post. T'sal's post about already undergoing some sort of action kinda got me jumpy that the other players might do similar things as well and i would already have three people at different locations . but yeah i shall wait a bit more till the end of the week to give me of a joining window. as for the heavy OCC start i realize it is kind of unhandy. but with new players. especially in the DM corner i need to look on how forum playing works in contrast of the standard board game. in future stories this will all be less necessary of course.))
As the three eager participants enter the great library hall. A busy Gri’pan is going over a lot of laid out books on a table. As the three come nearer gri’pan looks up.
“A, the three padawans who want to help with my little task.”
Gri’pan closes the book and quickly moves the to nearest bookshelf to get the next book.
“Not too long ago a rumor started that ancient jedi holograms have been found in sector 6- 8 on a small outer planet. Since i have been working a long time to get the archives up and running these holograms will be a good addition. “
While gri’pan makes notes on a small computer she pulls out a holo-projector and lays it on the table to activates it. As the projector lights up a visual pops up which shows a large open field surrounded by mountains. A small building is the only noticable object in the area.
“This is the location where you will be heading for. It is believed to be a small outhouse of a late jedi master who went renegade from the jedi order hundreds of years ago. A female Nautolan by the name of Malarika had a disagreement with the jedi teachings and went away to follow her own path. These holograms seem to be a the fruit of her labor. “.
A few more buttons are pressed and the large map makes place for the face of a male. A Zabrak male.
“this is kura’ran. My trusted head researcher. You will go to sector 6 -8 and contact him. He will inform you futher on any questions you might have. Keep in mind that this sector lays between the war raging Echani and the Mandalorion Fleets. No problems have been reported thus far. But our communication is getting jam spikes of the last few times. So caution is in order till this is full investigated. Prepare properly and please let me know if you have any questions”.
Gri’pan turns off her projecter and quickly stuffs it away in her robe. And like a switch is flipped she is fully focused on her studies once more.
((OOC: there we go , the first official opening post of the adventure. i shall continue the posting once the three different players have awnsered or once a week has passed. of course there are exceptions. like when you are in a discussion. i hope you all have fun!))

First turned Trigiel to Padawan Shebi Ajava: "I believe we have not yet met. I am Fecta Trigiel. I look forward to work together in this mission."
Then he went to T'sal: "T'sal, I am happy to announce I have upgraded my body. The zoom function is now installed in my prime optical sensor."

"It is nice that you made some upgrades Fecta Trigiel, we might need that. I am planning to take my research assistance droid S4N8 with me. Miss Shebi has already met him. He has various analyze tools which we could use.”
T’sal comes regularly to the library and she has seen miss Gri’pan a few times. She turns from her fellow padawans towards her.
“Miss Gri’pan I have a few questions.
I would like to know when and where we leave? Furthermore I would the name of the planet we can pack according to its climate?
I would like to put all data relating to Jedi master Malarika and the planets sector on my datapad. If you could give an overview I would appreciate it.”

Shebi Ajava - PC
A little bewildered by the abrupt introduction of what she thought was a droid, Shebi Ajava walked with Fecta Trigiel towards T'Sal.
When he was done talking to T'Sal, she introduced herself: "My name is Shebi Ajava."
The veolian padawan looked the cyborg over before continuing: "I couldn't help but overhear," she did not sound all too sure about this, "was your previous optical sensor not of the same quality as your biological eyes were?"

"In contrary, a teprogrenus normally has a sharp eyesight between e few centimetres and a few meters. Normally, for anything further will it be hard to see details. For example, we might see something moving 60 meters away, but we might not see whether it is a mouse or a small hamster. Insects are near impossible to see for a teprogrenus over a longer distance. Since I lost my natural ability for sight, it is replaced with an artificial eye. This optical sensor is equipped to detect a wider arrange of wavelengths and now also to have an optical zoom. In other words, were most people require special binoculars I have it build in my 'eye'.
Now we are at it, I have also hidden compartments for my lightsabers, gun and grappling hook. Plus an integrated life support system and several other pieces of gear."
((OOC: I do not know what kind of small animals live in the star wars univers so I just took the species of earth.))

As Gri’pan reaches for her datapad she lets out a heavy sigh.
“I am afraid that I cant say much about Malarika. In the time of troubles we lost much knowlage in the chaos. All we know about her is that she excisted and that she ran away. This expedition is an effort to retrieve data that we lost so long ago.”
Gri’pan quickly pressed around on her datapad while it is clear her mind is occupied with a lot of things right now. The air in the room grows tense as it is clearly noticable that Gri’pan is anoyed with the fact she has found an area where she knows nothing about. She closes her eye’s and lays down her holoprojector once more. It gives a quick glow as the a small planet show up as a hologram.
“I can however say something about the destination. We call it Yola and it has only resently been the case that the planet has shown any worth. It was first believed to be a small jungle planet with a few open plains here and there with no real mystories or resources. Since we have only recently begon working there the data for it is also quite scarse.
I have made arangements for you three to use one of my small ships I have in the hangar of the temple. The ship has all you will need in terms of basic supplies for food, communication and sleeping quarters. I have a service droid there who is also programmed to store all the information you will find there to send it to me. Please ask him anything if you need information during your mission. You will leave as soon as your ready.
I am still working on our new found information about the Jedi Master and the planet. So once it has been processed I shall have my droid inform you and let it upload to your datapad T’Sal. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to work on those data entries.”
Gri’pan picks up the projector and datapad and stacks up some books and datapads. She picks it all up, gives a smile to the party, and walks out of the library in a strong pase.

Shebi Ajava - PC
After Jedi Counselor Gri'Pan left the library, Shebi Ajava turned towards T'Sal.
"Was it necessary to embarrass us so?", her voice was calm, but it was clear she wasn't happy.
"I don't think it is polite to bombard your superior with such an array of easily answered questions, especially after she clearly dismissed us by focusing on her studies like that.
First off, while I am aware that a sector has roughly 140 thousand star systems, we could have easily determined what system we should go to by finding out where Kura’ran is stationed at the moment. This would also answer your question about the planet's climate.
Secondly, if the counsellor has more information on Malarika, she either deemed it unnecessary to tell us, or she assumed that we would be capable enough to get this information from the archives ourselves. I am reasonably sure that your are perfectly capable of fetching such information in a format more suitable to your datapad than recording the counsellor as she summarized this information.
Thirdly, was it necessary to request transportation? We could've easily asked quartermaster Nishra, and I could've obtained a good ship from my family, if need be.
I don't really like being made to look like I need help with such trivial problems, especially not towards one of the masters."
((OOC: @storyteller: FYI: Any given sector has, on average, 140 000 star systems in it. A sector is roughly 4 million square lightyears. So unless intentional, the statement 'a small outer planet' combined with 'Sector 6 -8' leaves an enormous amount of possible locations.))

"I propose we get our stuff and meet at the hangar. I will take a standard mechanics kit and my sniper rifle. Anything else I should bring?"

T'Sal - PC
T’sal looks to miss Shebi with one eyebrow up.
“First of all, she seems to me like a person who is very focused and is quickly switching. So I would not call it dismissing but multitasking.
Second, she asked if we had question. That means that we should ask. You start with the easy obvious and then get to the harder question. Also I would rather ask one question than waste my time doing something she already did.
Thirdly, a quartermaster is for as far as I know only head of supplies and not transportation. If she asks for a mission then she probably has a ship with supplies going there so we can join to safe resources.
Things may seem trivial but looks can be deceiving. That is why you check things and be critical; otherwise you will never discover anything.
I am sorry if you feel embarrassed, but I see it differently.”
With that she hoped the discussion is closed. She looks towards Fecta Trigiel.
“You probably do not need protecting cloths. A machete might a good idea to keep of plants and animals.”

Shebi Ajava - PC
Shebi Ajava carefully listened to T'Sal's opinion, and waited until she was done speaking with Fecta Trigiel before replying.
"I thought she only asked whether we had questions out of politeness; this 'multitasking' seems to be rather rude if you just stop talking to the other party and focus on a book instead. As her time is surely more valuable than ours, she is entitled to let us do some work again, even if she already did it -- after all, we are just padawans.
I understand your point of view...", she sighed almost imperceptibly, "Let's just chalk this down as a cultural difference. I'm sure that your inquisitive nature is much appreciated amongst a the Hiocan, you are after all a race of strongly analytical and logical thinkers."
"But don't do this when you're on Mirda", the veolian padawan added with a smile.
"This might be interesting for both of you: I'm very sure that I've been told to go to quartermaster Nishra for any supplies required for a mission, and this includes space ships."
"I agree with Fecta Trigiel. Let's get out gear and meet up in four hours.
Shebi Ajava left the library to collect some much needed equipment.
((OOC: Checked transport issue with Mercury -- the quartermaster is the correct person to go to for transportation or a space ship.))

T'Sal - PC
"Okay, I shall when I ever get to Mirda.
Let's grap our stuff and get ready."
T'sal goes to her room and uploads data of the planet (wildlife, planets etc.), the sector and information of that time period on her datapad while she packs jungle clothing.
She summons S4 and collects archelogist tools and jungle survival tools (including machete, insect protection etc.).
When she is ready, she reads up some information and when it is time she goes to the hangar.
((OOC: Did not know quartermaster took care of that as when.))

Trigiel also fetches his stuff. He does not need protection against insects because his organic parts are already enveloped in life support systems. He does make sure though he has sufficient small tools for detailed work to get the nasty little pests out of his mechanics if necessary, some bug spray will probably help. Also he attaches a folding knife to his left arm. At first he was planning to use his lightsaber for that, but there were some downsides, like the possibility to set the forest on fire. He also uploaded information of the planet and other information important for the mission to a data pad. He could study it en route. He also fetches his sniper rifle and the mechanics kit including the small tools. His gun and grappling hook were already in his pockets. When he was finished, he went to the hangar.
((OOC: If attaching the blade to his arm will take too long, Trigiel will then just grab the necessary gear and attach it en route.))

Saron Itho - PC
When the compagnions arrive at the hangar another padawan awaits them. At the sight of the for him unknown padawan Shebi Ajava he introduced himself: "I believe that we have not met before. My name is Saron Itho, born at the Gaianists in the days of yore." Sequentially he asked to the whole party: "Although I am a little late with my decision, can I still join your most important mission?"
"I do not know, you should ask the droid on the ship or the quartermaster. Master Gri'pan told us to ask the droid any questions. Although I do not have personal issues of you joining the mission, 4 padawans will maybe a little much for a retrieving mission."
