[ Senate ] Protecting Senator Salixa

Tera Inogo (mask of Senator Salixa of the Silver Forests of Remunzia) - NPC
The Senator nodded to Tera with understanding as the Tooka purred gently at being stroked. It seemed to like that, and Tera could see how the Remunzians might like these critters.
She seemed to accept Jaicens explanation - that this had been a droid-bomb - with some sadness. "Poor little droid..."
Meanwhile, Nathan alerted Senate Security to possible future bombs, and determined that none of the other animals had bombs in them. Perhaps it had just been the one.
After all the evidence had been collected from the hallway, it was cleaned up so it could be traversed without walking in guts. Scans would allow the full reconstruction of the crimescene later, but that detailed investigation probably would take weeks, and might not lead to anything - well beyond the scope of the Jedi's instructions regardless.
This was the boring part of the mission. Just sitting around, waiting. The animals provided some mild entertainment, one of them looking extremely offended at being scanned, as if such mundane activities were entirely below it, and another seeming to really like being scanned and first demanding to be scanned a second and a third and a fourth time, and then even pretending to be an entirely different animal which still needed to be scanned. They were certainly cute little critters. Notably no predation going on between any of them.
The interlude was interrupted by a signal from the Chancellor.
((OOC: I have taken the liberty of hijacking Brend's character here for a moment, if need be, Brend can edit their characters words to be better fitting :)))

Chancellor Dewa Lanadi (mask of Mercury) - Storyteller
"Senator Salixa, I am sorry to interrupt. You need to come to the Senate Room for a crucial vote. Padawan Nathan, Padawan Jaicen, Padawan Tera, please provide her with a secure escort."
Notably, the chancellor addressed her request to vote to Tera, while telling Jaicen, Nathan and Senator Salixa to provide the escort.

Jaicen tinkered somewhat with his medical droid during the waiting time. He allowed the animals to watch and play with his work if they showed interest. Meanwhile TG-100 didn't move from his guarding place, TG-100 didn't even let animals through, unless scanned by Nathan of course. Jaicen wasn't really bored and actually liked the place, it wasn't as bad as the forestmoon he had been on, and it was more relaxing than the city.
"Hmm, should we first check if the message actually came from the Chancellor?" Jaicen first responded if the message didn't come over a very secure channel. ((OOC: Probably Jaicen knows whether the request is through a secure channel though.)).
"We should definitely circumvent the press with the senator, if they're still there. Is it an idea to let Tera walk out the front door, guarded by either me or Nathan and the Senator through a side-door, guarded by the other person? If so, I suggest I join Tera with my robots."
"We could meet up again in the senate then." Jaicen continued.

"I agree with Jaicen.", Tera states, "If I go out the front with Jaicen and his droids, than Tera and Nathan can go out the side door and seemingly busy themselves with securing the area while making their way to the senate where we can meet up again.
Unfortunately, there our ruse might be foiled, unless the senator allows me to vote as her proxy. I doubt that the Senate would like favourably upon either the senator voting as me, or me voting as the senator.", as she explains the fact that their ruse would come to an end due to Union voting laws, she looks at the senator with an expectant expression, hoping that she knows a way to safe the disguise.

"You can always just go into a dressing room within the senate and change clothes there." Jaicen added. "And, if you do not do so, since war-meetings are not open to the public, only senators will know the disguise. Another option might be to let Tera talk, repeating the words said by the real senator over an intercom."
Tera nods in agreement.
"So, shall we go?", she states to everyone, and makes ready to start walking.

"Yeah, good idea, let's go!." Jaicen responded and he ordered his robots to walk with him and Tera, unless Nathan had something else to add.

Tera Inogo (mask of Senator Salixa of the Silver Forests of Remunzia) - NPC
((OOC: This post does not count; it is kept here for OOC post ordering reasons:
))The senator nodded "I don't mind if you vote as my proxy - we usually abstain anyway. Though if we are to limit the time we spent outside the ambassy, perhaps it might be wise to not actively bring up the fact that it is a vote actually being made that way...? Because if we do, a certain senator might have a burocrogasm at the thought of making sure all the rules on that were followed to the letter, and we might be there a while."
The group made their way to the side door, Jaicen and his droids up front leading the fake senator. When they opened the side door, however, they were met with an array of bright flashes as holo-imagers were activated. Apparently some of the press had found their way to the side entrance and were now hoping to get something more than a picture of Jaicen and his droids!

((OOC: Errr, *scratches head*, I think there has been a mishap.
The plan as discussed by Jaicen and Tera was for real Tera (in senator disguise) and Jaicen and his droids to go out the front, While fake Tera (the senator in disguise) and Nathan go out the side door. The idea was to split up, because the press at the front door was more controlled by senate security, while the two people leaving through the side door seem to simply be two Jedi trying to be sneaky.))

Nathan was quiet for a few moments. Then he nodded.
"Very well."
His tone became more serious.
"Keep your guard up and watch each others backs."
The large cyborg seemed worried, like he was expecting trouble.
He then guided the actual senator to the side door.

Jaicen and his droids and the fake Senator Salixa (actually Tera) made their way to the front door, where an array of bright flashes almost blinded them, holo-imagers being activated and press rushing in to ask questions.
"Is it true that Remunzian Intelligence is the only reason the Union has not been overran by the Slave Rebellion? How do you feel about causing the impending destruction of the Union and with it all of civilization? Do you now agree that slavery should be implemented Unionwide? Will you be running for Chancellor? Do you support the Union counterattack? What is your position on the recent vote for Supreme Judge? Do you believe the Remunzians were doing the right thing in bringing the Slave Rebellion into Union Territory? Who could have expected the Slave Rebellion to betray your trust?"
Meanwhile, Nathan and the actual Senator Salixa (disguised as Tera) made their way to the side entrance. There had been press here, but the entire press corps, but there was no trace of them now, as they had rushed to the front door when the (fake) Senator came out there. All there was now was one lonely photographer who snapped a picture of Nathan when he opened the door, leaving a disappointed look on the photographers face when he for a moment believed he photographed a maintenance droid.

Jaicen made sure no reported could come close to the senator (/Tera), before they went outside he asked a few officers if they could assist. He spread his three droids around Tera, pushing away every reporter who came close, with TG-100 the closest beside Tera. TG-100 surely showed his lightsaber to indicate Jedi security and to deter the press.
Jaicen's hovercraft came somewhat behind Tera, since he was not the point of interest he himself could hopefully hover freely and would be able to observe the press gathering from a small distance to feel if anything was wrong.
((Check: 10 = 5 Force Level + 5 Intuition -- Jaicen trusts more on his instincts than his vision))

Nathan looked at the photographer for a moment. Then approached him. He extended his hand as he said:
"Your camera and press ID please."
Nathan turned his waist a little to make sure the photographer saw his lightsaber hanging from his belt. He cast a quick glance to Tera (the senator) and made sure he blocked her from the photographers view as best he could without the photographer noticing.

The photographer looked confused a moment, but then quickly showed his press ID - though he didn't hand over his camera.
"John Greenwick, Free Press Associate" he explained. Free Press Associate meant this was someone who took pictures, often of local events, which were then sold to press agencies for small fees. The ID looked legit. "Actually, would you mind if I went to the main entrance, there's a rumour the senator is coming out there, and I'd like to photograph her. I thought the rumour might be a distraction, but clearly you aren't her."

((OOC: I was going to wait for a post by Nathan so I don't mess up the flow. But I also want to not hold up the mission.))
Meanwhile, at the front door Senator Salixa (Tera in Disguise) appears somewhat overwhelmed by the sudden rush of questions.
She decides that the better part of acting as a politician is simply not giving the press the answers they are looking for, and simply continues walking. She makes sure to remain between the security officers and the droids, and makes some effort to ensure that any holo-images taken do not capture her full face. She trusts her disguise and the make-up skills of the real Senator Salixa, and pays more attention to her surroundings. She keeps an eye on spots where she would position herself for an assassination attempt, and for people acting different from the press.

Jaicen attempted to clear the way using his droids, but he soon found that these droids were completely unsuited for the task of "crowd management". Soon, his medical droid was disappearing into the crowd of reporters, repeating "excuse me", "pardon me", "i beg your pardon" and "excuse me" before the sound was drowned out by reporter questions.
The Astromech droid likewise disappeared into the crowd, - no doubt they'd eventually find their way back to him but for the moment they appeared to have been overwhelmed by the reporters, being much shorter it was even easier to lose sight of it.
No doubt the droids would be able to find their way back to him, but for the moment they were unable to help. TG-100 kept close to the 'Senator', regardless.
The 'Senator' kept quiet and didn't answer any questions, which did not stop the press from bombarding her with more questions though.
"Why do you believe the Hutt Families haven't responded yet? How do you respond to the Free Confederacy joining the conflict? What is your response to rumours that the Jedi have infiltrated your embassy? Do you support violence to free Remunzia? How will all these events impact tomato production? Are you scared for the fate of your people? Do you feel personally responsible for current events?"
As they made their way through the crowd, Tera and Jaicen noticed a suspicious figure in the crowd, a photography droid which appeared to be lacking a camera - clearly it wasn't here to take photographs but that being its only reason for existence raised an important question: what was it doing here. The photography droid was right in the path to their destination and about to join the crowd of reporters.

Jaicen uttered a curse word in his own mind when he saw his droids failing, "I should've known...., they are not made for this." he said to himself: "I will call them back afterwards, they know where the vehicle is."
TG-100 answered some of the questions with: "Unable to comply.... very well. happy, yes, blood, my people are robots, I do not have feelings". He probably didn't get that much attention from the photographers, but distracting them could be handy.
As Jaicen spotted the figure he informed the senator by letting TG-100 talk into her ear: "suspicious droid straight ahead, walk slowly, I will try to handle it." Trying to do this as inconspicuously as possible.
Jaicen, who was somewhat behind the crowd, sped up around the crowd towards the droid and grabbed his camera to appear as one of the reporters, in the vicinity of the droid he slowed down again. Taking some pictures, while having a good look at the droid Jaicen tried to determine from his droid experiences whether it was really a press-droid. ((Check: 13 = 5 Force Level + 5 Reason + 3 Mechanical Engineer -- Determine the origin of the droid.)).
((OOC: Edited since mind-trick doesn't work on droids.))

"Not until you hand over your camera. I just need to inspect it, I will return it to you shortly. You have my word." Nathan tried to reassure the man while still putting his foot down.
Nathan wasn't specifically suspicious of the man. If he really was a photographer it made sense the man didn't want to hand over the instrument that made his livelihood. But perhaps a different approach would work.
Nathan sighed heavily.
"Look, I'm just doing my job. My last few hours have been absolute hell. The people inside the embassy are worried sick about their loved ones back on Remunzia. When they see I'm a jedi, they come up to me to ask if I have any news and the only thing I can tell them is that I don't know anything. I even had a kid come up to me asking if I could save his mother and father back home."
Nathan sounded like he was at a loss, his posture reflecting it as well.
"So could you please just cooperate and hand over the camera? Then I can go and see if there is something for these people that will give them hope, or at least closure."

Tera decides that walking slowly as TG-100 suggests is probably not the best course of action. If that droid is carrying an explosive — and given their current track-record that is not at all a far-fetched idea — it might wound and even kill many of the reporters as it tries to detonate close to the senator.
The senator (or really, Tera) exclaims '"Oh! I forgot my favorite Tooka. " just before she suddenly makes a sharp turn, and starts heading back in the direction she came from. As she does so, she looks back and explains to the press: "Please wait here for me. I will answer all your questions when I get back."
She makes a beeline for the front door of the embassy, knowing that there is security personell in there that is better equipped to deal with a bomb-droid than the press out here is. Hopefully, this sudden change in direction of the crowd allows Jaicen to take care of the droid discretely as the press' attention is focussed on not tripping over each other.

((OOC: Jaicens check on the droid is successful!))
Jaicen moved around the crowd of photographers, making his way close to the droid. From there, Jaicen was able to spot that this was indeed a press-droid. The make and model were something he'd seen before.
However, this particular press-droid appeared to be modified, the removal of the camera being a key feature. There were also some stray wires, which hadn't been cleaned up properly, sticking out of its chassis, implying further modifications inside of it.
When Tera explained she had forgotten her favorite Tooka and turned to head back, there didn't even seem to be any surprise amongst the press. Remunzian officials would attract more attention -without- carrying pets around, so going back for one wasn't all that surprising, and after being reassured that she'd be back, the press took the opportunity to interview TG-100 while they'd wait for "Senator Salixa" to return.
Meanwhile, the droid made a rush to get around the crowd, trying to get close to "Senator Salixa". If someone didn't stop the droid, it would probably manage to catch up with her!
--
On the other side of the Embassy, Nathan spoke with the lone photographer, making an emotion plea for the man to just hand over the bloody camera.
((OOC: A check would probably have applied here, but I decided to go ahead anyway))
Finally the man nodded, offering his camera to Nathan.
"I know how you feel, man. Trying to make ends meet, dealing with all the sad folks... its hard." without waiting, he gave Nathan a hug, before stepping back again "You'll make it through today." he stated encouragingly.
"Tera" behind him smiled warmly upon seeing the photographer act so warmly and moved forward to give him a hug as well.
