[14 -8] Investigating the Tunuaranan moonquakes
"Yes Master Trigiel, my apologies and thanks" Jaicen responded, just before he went to the passengers compartment and fiddle with his droid.
After a while, seeing Ariana rush by towards the scanning console Jaicen wondered what was going on, since he was just sitting in the passengers compartment with TG-100. Being a padawan he felt that it was more appropriate to remain quiet and follow Ariana to see what she is doing.
"Could I help you Master Ariana?"
Jaicen saw what Ariana was doing and tried to remember the terrain from the maps jaicen saw in the library the previous time he was on the moon. He also wanted to help at programming if he was any use.

Darones Rei - PC
Whilst taking over at the helm after beeing called up to the cockpit by Ariana, Darones took a peek out of the cockpit windows before responding:
"I agree that we shouldn't test our luck too much in that... especially given our guests and cargo. I'll let you know if things become too risky, but finding us a spot to set down sooner rather than later is a good call.
This does however mean that our trip to the Orilon and the temple is a bit further and certainly a bit more 'exciting' then expected."

"I'll go inform the scouts."
Trigiel goes back to the cargo bay to tell the scouts about the situation: "There is a large thunderstorm right ahead. It appears that we have to land somewhere around seventy kilometers, a two day trip away of Orilon.
The hike to Orilon and the temple will also be rough, unless the storm suddenly decides to dissolve into sweet scented pedals.
What are your thoughts?"
If the scouts want to see the storm for themselves, Trigiel brings them to the bridge.

((OOC: Finding a spot to land on a scanning console has nothing to do wither either Reason (your rational thinking and logical thought process), nor with Programming (operating computers beyond their normal use). Scanning consoles are literally intended for the use of scanning around for things. This being star wars, this means that you as the operator need to look around instead of the tool doing the work -- so Vision would be a very good fit together with Pilot or Tracking and Navigation. Therefore:
Ariana's check: Denied
Jaicen's check: Denied

Ariana and Jaicen started working with the scanning console. But they seem to only to get absurd results: the system coughed up a cave where the storm did not reach, a 14 centimeter wide strip of mountain top, and a spot 150 kilometers back to they came. Their approach did not seem to work.
Darones quickly took over from the auto-pilot, which clearly had problems with flying towards the storm front. With his training in piloting he was able to keep the ship from shaking too much while they flew towards the storm. He estimates, on intuition, that the flight would get much rougher in about ten minutes: even though no clouds could be seen so close, the winds and turbulence usually reached much further.
Trigiel finds the scouts calming the tauntauns -- who, predictably, where not at all happy with all the shaking and moving of basically their whole world.
"Hiking is no problem.", was the simple answer of the lead scout. "Go put us down somewhere, and we ride from there."
((OOC: I will split the party (and the threads) when you set down and the Orilon party rides out into the storm!))

((OOC: I have to disagree with you. Rational thinking makes you determine which paths you can take and whether a spot would be suitable for landing, depending on your learned skills of plane landing. But I agree that it doesn't have to do anything with programming.
I have a decent vision, but with my vision I can not determine whether something would be a decent landing space, especially not when you are going above 100km/h. Pilots do not rely on their vision when deciding on a landing space. I agree with the Navigation and tracking - skill)).
Seeing fake results Jaicen quickly gave up and asked Ariana: "This is not going to work, are you going to inform Darones? I guess the best action is to fly slow, look around, look on a map and determine a position."
If Ariana agreed Jaicen would go to Darones and repeat the words he told Ariana.

"Any luck back there? " Darones asked while he noticed the storm was getting ever stronger, " I don't think it wise to continue this much longer, we'd be much better of on foot."
After Ariana and Jaicen reported back their finding, or rather lack their off, Darones slowed down the feighter a bit so that they might have a little more time to assess possible sites large enough to set down.
"We'll set down soon. This is a sturdy ship, but going into this storm much further isn't a very good idea."

Trigiel returns to the cockpit: "The scouts said that a hike would be no problem. But the Taun Tauns get scared of the shaking.
How are we doing on landing? "

"Take us down as soon as possible Darones. I will try to assist you from here."
Ariana tried to use the scanning console the traditional way to provide some support for Darones. It could not harm to look around.

Seeing how finding a landing sport is not Ariana her main ability, Trigiel looks out of the window for a decent landing spot, using his experience with space ships and excellent vision.

((OOC: Darones' pilotting check approved -- though this takes must of his attention, so his other significant action is failed. Ariana's check and Trigiel's check both approved.))
Darones kept the ship from shaking in the turbulence waves, but this requires all of his attention. He has little luck spotting any good landing spots.
Ariana, however, uses the scanning console, quickly locating several passable landing spots. Trigiel, seeing these candidates on the scanner before looking out the window, quickly determines the best landing space. His technologically enhanced and Force-assisted sight helps him greatly, as he is capable of ignoring part of the cloud cover.
They quickly inform Darones of the best location, and ten minutes later the ship comes to a halt just beside a rock outcropping that shelters them from the worst of the storm. From here, the trek to the village would be about two days by tauntaun. The Jedi noted that the electromagnetic interference from the storm was going to make any long- or medium-range radio communication in the storm area impossible.
With the ships stable on the ground, it was time for the Orilon team to head out.
((OOC: This is it! Orilon team, please unboard the ship and put an OOC note in your next post that describes the exact items you are taking with you from the ship (including any equipment you originally brought with you on the mission that you still want to take with you). You have been able to arrange for supplies, so you can put down any reasonable amount of food and water as you wish, as well as simple tools and scanners.
Note that I will use my moderation powers to move the equipment listings to the split of Orilon thread! That way we have a nice overview of the available gear at the top of that thread.))

After the landing of the ship, Jaicen instructed TG-100 to help the Orilon team and the scouts in any way possible: Which was mostly lifting heavy stuff and cleaning the area the tauntauns had been after the departure.
After everyone was unloaded: "Since we do not have any radio contact due the storm, what are our options to pick you guys back up? If the storm dies down, it is easy. If not, I propose that we will fly towards your destination, if you are not there, we will fly to the base camp."
"Good luck Master Fecta Trigiel and Darones Rei, and may the force be with you."

"I don't see how we can fly towards the mountain if the storm does not disapear. We will probably end up in the same situation that we are in now if the storm is still around. We should try to communicate with each other once every day at noon. If this communication works we can discuss our progress and a new landing site and pick up time when needed.
If we can not reach each other I propose to fall back to meeting you back here in 7 days. We will mark this location on a datacrystals in the ship. This gives you 2 days for the way up, 2 days at the location, 2 days for the way back and 1 day for unforseen circumstances. Did you guys bring a means to communicate with us over long distance? "
Ariana saves their current coordinates on a datacrystal.

"Using this site as a fall back option seems like a good idea," Darones replied, "7 or 8 days should indeed be sufficient for us. As for long range communication, I don't think we'll many options is this storm doesn't die down. I suppose however we should be able to rig a locator bacon to emit HF signals. What do you think?"

With the Jedi and the Taun Tauns getting off the ship Ariana starts entering new coordinates in the navigation computer of the ship. She plans a route to the satellite in orbit around the planet. Ariana adjusts the route to make sure they start with moving away from the storm for several minutes.
Ariana waits for Trigiel and Darones to signal her that they are ready before she takes off with the ship.

7 Days after splitting up, the meeting location
Ariana had set the ship down solidly on the ground. It fiercely withstood the buffeting winds next to a large rock outcropping that protects the ship from the worst of the storm.
Jaicen was outside, TG-100 practising its ligthsaber handling and going through the blaster-deflection katas of the Soresu style. Every once in a while, Jaicen fired a shot to see how well TG-100 handled the deflection. The erratic lightning strikes that shot from cloud to cloud gave the training session a certain gravitas that Jaicen had not felt during his training at the temple. Maybe this was why many knights and masters spend so much time honing their skills in natural environments?
Meanwhile, Ariana was meditating inside the ship, the roar of the storm only a distance noise. She meditated on what they had learned so far, all the separate facts accepted as they were. As the sound of the storm becomes more and more distant, as the facts become more clear in her mind, she is slowly overcome by a feeling of something vast and ancient. Something that is yet to happen, yet has already happened.
Darones and Trigiel have made their trek through the valley, relatively protected from the strong winds raging over the higher plateau.
As they approach the meeting location they see the silhouette of the ship standing out against the dark and roaring skies. With the ship but a dark shape against the even darker skies, they suddenly see blaster shots being fired at a lightsaber wielding humanoid!
As they break into a run, they quickly see that it is only Jaicen firing at his TG-100 droid.
Jaicen looked up when he saw Darones and Trigiel arriving and after ensuring it was really them, It might be hard to see through the rain, he hovered towards them to greet them.: "Hey! Welcome back, I see you guys survived?" Then looking towards Trigiel: "What happened to you, master Trigiel?"

"Giant lasers underneath the surface of a moon? That is...remarkable. But let's go inside the ship and let me help fix you. Afterwards you can explain everything to us." And with that Jaicen grabbed his stuff outside of the ship and directed the Tauntauns and the scouts inside.

When they all had settled in a minute later Ariana continued. "We fixed the satellite and used it to study the earthquakes together with the local scientists. We discovered a pattern, found the epicenters and predicted the next earthquake. We had a pretty good week as well. If you guys are interested I will show you our findings."
Ariana started her touchpad device and showed them the graphical summary of their results.
