As Jaicen, Trigiel and Ajava arrive at the pond, Jaicen parks his hoverchair near the pond.

While Trigiel was still gathering his data to draw analysis:
((OOC: I assumed Trigiel was walking with us here too))

"Yes, You are more suited to jungle environments according to Trigiel, could you provide me with advice on how to pack my equipment and react to its environment and since it seems like you have more experience with unconvential entities, could you tell me more about those experiences and how to react properly to them, to lessen the chance to fail this mission?"

"To be honest, I think that packing your equipment is the least of your worries on a jungle planet.", she looked at the hoverchair pensively.

"Exa-12 is an uninhabited jungle world, without any infrastructure. While I doubt you will have to charge your hoverchair or droid every day, there will be a point where you will have too. And the same holds true for Trigiel, eventually. But the real problem for you would be getting around -- several kinds of jungle do not have very traversable ground."

"And I never said that the Xomlirga was unconventional, I only said I would not call it weird. My guess is that its way of life makes perfect sense on Exa-12."

She was silent for a moment.

"But, I actually meant the kind of questions you want to ask a person you just met from a species you know little of, but normally don't because it is not proper.", she said with a smile.

((OOC: I intended to arrive with Jaicen. It is a little unclear what the situation is according to you. But I believe Trigiel is sitting there, letting Jaicen and Ajava get to know each other :).))

Trigiel waits patiently for Jaicen and Ajava having their small talk.

"So maybe we should take a lot of powerpacks with us!"

"I think for me to get around I need to modify my droid so it can take me on its back!, Like a piggyback. I am sure it will not be very comfortable, but if we need to climb I think it is the best option. I will not be able to fight efficiently though, although I doubt that will be needed."

"But then I got the feeling that I am inappropriate again, A well let's ask. You are the people with slaves, right? I heard there is all kinds of hassle in the senate about it, do you have a slave here?"
Jaicen waited a moment to see if his question was not too badly formulated, then asked. "Do you have any advantage of being a hemet veolian in being a jedi, compared to other races, and are there veolians which are not hemet, but force sensitive and able to become a jedi?"

"So if your droid is going to carry you, who is going to carry all the powerpacks?", she replied with a smile.

Ajava then patiently listened to the flood of questions from Jaicen.

"With the many different cultures in the Union, it is sometimes difficult to know what is, and what isn't, inappropriate. That's why I wanted to give you this opportunity -- if you ask me, I can explain how it would be received by a veolian, and you will have learned about it without actually offending anyone."

"Yes, some veolians have slaves. No, I do not have a slave here."

Ajava continued to explain some of her opinion on the matter.

"But the hassle in the senate is not completely about slavery. I think it is also about how different cultures get along in the Union, and how they should settle their differences. That the conflict revolves around slavery is because it is a difficult topic, where interpretation and culture play a large role."

"Determining of someone is force sensitive is not easy. Most of the initiates and padawan are found because the force leads the Jedi to them. I am sure that there are many veolians that are force sensitive, and it is very likely that a few of them could become Jedi, if they are discovered. A few might be discovered by the Saśakta hai Vyavasthā, an ancient order on Mirda. But I think that most will simply live their life, and have the fortune of having the Force gently guide them in their endeavours."

"I do not think that being a hemet veolian gives me an advantage in being a Jedi. At least, no more than you being a human gives you an advantage. Both of us have to train, both of use must learn to control our emotions, and both of us must overcome challenges. Being a hemet veolian might give me some advantages over others, but those do not help me be a better Jedi."

She looks at Jaicen, waiting to see if he has follow-up questions.

((OOC: Begin sensitive to the force and having the Force Sensitive racial characteristic are different things ^_^))

" If I may make a bad joke: That is where you come in." Jaicen said with a smile.

"Not that I actually care about the whole subject, it is just not very common in the other worlds. And I think that is why there is so much talk about it. The hemets are more force sensitive on average, am I right? But of course not all are meant to become Jedi."

"It does give you an advantage on your force strength or ability to control physical stuff, but of course not the emotions and mental challenges."

Content Jaicen replied with : "Thank you for this opportunity."

((OOC: We do not accept midichlorians as a thing, so Force Sensitive is not really a thing that can be detected in chracter (unless of course the character is throwing lightning bolts from their hands are levitating X-wings about) -- so saying that hemets are force sensitive by default is not really a thing as far as I know.))

"We'll see about that.", she jokes back.

"I think that many hemets like to think they are in tune with the Force, though I am not sure if they really are. Having a strong connection with the Force is seen as a very desirable quality in potential mates, which is very important in veolian culture."

"I think that every species has their own specialties when it comes to Jedi training. But I would not say that hemet veolians have most benefits from their physical abilities, I think our mental capacity is the more beneficial of the two."

As she finishes the sentence, Ajava turns her attention to Trigiel.

"Sadly, both Jedi Ariana Danacia and Padawan Nathan Miodrass Assilion decided to fled the temple when the force warned them of my eminent interrogation. So I came rather empty handed. I was told Ariana is on a mission to the moons of Tunuarana, and Nathan hides probably under a rock or something." Trigiel said with played sadness, letting his headflaps hang.

"I believe the power packs and food supplements are a problem relative easy to overcome. I have analysed the following problems and solutions:" Trigiel displayed a document with his analysis.

analysis
Problems
:Solutions

food
: for me: extra food supplements, you: there grows probably a berry somewhere
power
: power packs in pockets
landing
: ropes or a small landing platform
getting to space again
: a rope or a small landing platform, maybe jump
communication
: radio, speech, hand signals
rust
: decent coating
wildlife
: dunno, throwing poo at them?
navigation
: dunno, following the stars?
parasites
: Not my problem, you: antibiotics?
sickness
: a cure
the great unknown
: fight or flight, maybe pee over it to establish dominance?

"As you can see, there are some essentials missing I believe."

"Thanks for your explanation master" Says Jaicen to Shebi AjavaI.

Turning towards Trigiel Jaicen says:
"honestly have to say, master, that some of your solutions sound .... less usefull. Others are more usefull. It is too bad that the Jedi are not available, although I doubt that Ariana is on the Tunaria missions, since I attend that one as well and then I should also be there. We should bring basic first aid kits with us though. And you do not kill parasites with antibiotics."

Ajava smiled at Trigiel's obviously jest towards reasons that Ariana and Nathan couldn't be found.

"A most reasonable explanation indeed.", she replied.

"I agree with padawan Hedoss, these solutions do not seem very effective. I suggest that the both of you start reading up on survival techniques.", she said with a sterner voice.

"There are things you only learn through experience. Yet a basic level of knowledge will be necessary first. I'm willing to come along, but only if you make a serious effort to learn and prepare. I won't hold it against you if you forget something, or if you do not know something, but if you want to visit a jungle planet, you will have to prepare for a jungle planet."

"I think a week or so of preparation time should be enough."

((OOC: I will be away next week, but after that I'll be available for a posting speed of 2/week. Maybe we should find out if Mercury is up for running the mission since he ran the previous one?))

((OOC: Mercury wanted to ST the mission and wanted to start the 28th.))

A week later, Trigiel returned. He made some adjustments so his body was up to speck for the planet. Aside from this, he had with him an emergency repair kit and a rope. "You know what I realised. Nathan and Ariana managed to get around with minor preparations, so I should also be able to do so.

"I am here!" Jaicen arrived a little late on his hovercraft with his droid in tow. His TG-100 droid was modified to be able to carry jaicen, with extra straps on the droid and something that resembled a sadle. If Jaicen would be on the TG-100, it would, obviously, severely hamper its ability to fight for example.

"The Rhodian Jedi at the workshop gave some last minute advice on the balance of my droid, It took somewhat longer than expected."
"But I guess we were still waiting for the mission briefing from another Master, or....?"

((OOC: I'm here to run the mission - once you guys are ready to leave, please post what you are bringing and be sure to be complete about it, because if you forget about something, it'll not be available, even if it is "really obvious" or if you "clearly would have taken that".

I'll also note that I will be looking at weight / volume carried and while we don't have specific rules for it, it may affect some things you are trying to do.

I'll allow you to adjust your carried goods until everyone has posted they get on the ship - by then I'll post about your arrival at the planet. For now, please continue!))

Ajava looked at Jaicen with a surprised expression. "Mission briefing? I thought you two came up with this plan by yourselves."

Ajava stood there, taking nothing with her that she couldn't comfortably carry herself. She wears the traditional brown Jedi cloak over her armour, deviating from her normal policy of wearing only a single layer of clothing. On her belt are her two lightsabers, and on her back she seems to carry both a sturdy backpack and a composite bow. Inside the neatly packed backpack she had, among other things, a single person tent, a first aid kit and two weeks worth of minimal meals-ready-to-eat.

"I hope that you two understand what you are getting yourselves into.", she looked at both Trigiel and Jaicen with concern on her face. her concern does not last long though, and with a smile she stated "Shall we go then? We have some days of hyperspace travel ahead of us, so we shouldn't delay."

And with that, she started towards the ship.

((OOC: Ajava's equipment:
  • Her lightsabers, Talavāra and Katāra
  • Her composite recurve bow, with 35 durasteel-tipped arrows
  • A wireless communicator headset, worn
  • Her normal armour, worn
  • Her brown Jedi cloak, worn
  • A99 Aquata Breather
  • A backpack with survival gear for two weeks (i.e., sturdy water-proof backpack, water purifier, water bag, single person tent, sturdy rope, first aid kit, 14 MRE rations, emergency radio beacon, four chemical torches)

By the way, the droids Jaicen is taking were only introduced in an OOC post, and as such Ajava is not yet aware of their presence on the ship. The moment she becomes aware of them she will have a reaction.

I'm fine with a 2/week posting frequency (I think 1/week is too slow, but will understand of Mercury or someone else wants that)))

((OOC: Yeah it was described in an IC post but your jedi was not there))

"Uhm, ow yeah" Jaicen replied somewhat confused: "Trigiel came up with the plan, I almost forgot it, going to get my stuff, be right back"
After that he hovered towards the door.

Returning after a short while he returned with all his equipment, incluis the droids, and turning to Trigiel before entering the plane which Trigiel reserved:
"Trigiel, could you please check if I have everything you think I need? You are the mission leader, so you have the responsibility, I suppose." And with a wink he continued: "If I die it is your fault."

"Congratulations on your new title, Master Shebi." Trigiel said to Ajava. "I fully understand what I getting into and I explained it to Padawan Jaicen as well so he should be aware of the inhospitality of the mission.

Master, I reasoned that the failure of the previous party was despite of their equipment, not because of it. Therefore I chose to keep my equipment to a minimum."

Then after Jaicen asks Trigiel to look at the equipment of the padawan, Trigiel turns to Jaicen: "Padawan, remember why we asked Master Ajava along, reflect, and then act accordingly."

((OOC:
  • Build in

    • sensitive optics (infra red, ultra violet, night sight zoom function)
    • Hidden water proof arm pockets for lightsabers
    • comm link (So no direct speech is needed)
    • Hidden water proof compartments at the side of both upper legs, big enough for a small blaster each.
  • Carrying

    • Two tonfa handled lightsabers (in arm pockets)
    • A small blaster (in right hidden leg compartment)
    • A grappling hook 40 ft/ 14 m (Left leg compartment)
    • emergency repair kit (in backpack)
    • rope (in backpack)
    • Enough power and food supplies for a month without (In backpack if required)

"Padawan Hedoss, reflecting on a situation and acting accordingly does not usually involve not reflecting on the situation and instead asking someone else."

Ajava looked at Jaicen with a disappointed expression.

"You are indeed forgetting something.", she replies as she looks over the droids. "You are forgetting that we are going to a jungle planet to meet with someone that has lived there without any technology. Regardless of the reasons for doing so, we should respect the decision."
