"I guess we just have to answer them normally right? Somebody has to do it."
Ariana opened a communication link and replied with:

"This is the White Star, asking for permission to dock. We would like to refuel and resupply at your station. Requesting docking coordinates."

"This is Omega Delta Station 4-6-9-3 to White Star, you are cleared to dock at bay four, zone D-8" - the correct coordinates were included "Have a pleasant stay!"

Darones easily guided the White Star to the docking port, landing it safely in a large hangar. There were no security scans or even contaminants check, the group noticed. This was unusual for Union territories, but given that this was Hutt space, things might very well be different here. Besides, what use would scanning be against the smugglers that visited here, all with ships no doubt equipped with various forms of dampening fields.

After paying the dock master, the team was free to roam the station. There were various casino's, a shopping centre and of course the infamous cantina. They might even drop by Zordo the Hutt, the owner of the station, who usually stayed in a "not-for-children" establishment, according to their data.

" Good idea, " Darones responded after everyone had exited the ship and he had made sure it was securely locked. " We need to be careful however not to draw too much attention, at least not before we know who and where our contacts are. Our best bet would indeed be the cantina , however i wouldn't recommend going in as a group. "

The Cantina consisted of a main level with various small tables centred around a large bar in the middle of the floor. Four men were mixing drinks carried around by Twi'lek and Togruta slave girls, each wearing little more than a steel collar around their necks and a pair of insanely high stiletto heels.

The floor was sticky and the only thing less appealing than the crunchbugs which walked everywhere were the patrons themselves: rough individuals, a few hundred in total, each and every one of them carrying weapons. They were engaged in all sorts of dealings, card games and drinking. Despite their rough nature, the place was not entirely devoid of love - two of the patrons were making out in an alcove.

Above the floor level were several balconies, each for a private room where the more well off patrons kept away from the scum below, a serving slave assigned to each, no doubt with other services besides drinks available as well.

Ariana and Nebesnogo were the first to enter. Near the central bar was Jarlisvus - the large Wookiee owner of the establishment, holding a slave by the collar and backhanding her, leaving a red mark on her green skin.

"You think I have time for your failures?! Do it right, or I will have you thrown out of the airlock!" He tossed the green Twi'lek onto the ground. "Now get back to work."

The incident barely seemed to register with most of the patrons, though the Padawans could sense a deep fear in the serving staff. Some fear was to be expected in slaves in a place like this, but what they sensed was a tension that seemed out of place.

Darones and Shebi Ajava entered next - as they had not seen the earlier incident, their focus lay elsewhere.

Besides the staff, there appeared to be a drug deal being brokered on the leftmost balcony, a small Hutt nervously casting glances down as he dealt, as if afraid that someone was going to be arresting him - an unlikely event as most figures here seemed to have more nefarious histories then selling Glitterstim. The Jedi could sense this Hutt was not used to places such as these.

In one of the corners were two cloaked figures, notable by the fact that they were drinking water, no doubt an uncommon order in a place such as this. They gave off an odd sensation to the four Padawans, a vertigo like feeling, as if two senses were in conflict.

Despite everything going on, the four didn't miss the eight Gamorrean bouncers, each armed to the teeth and looking mean as can be. No doubt anyone causing trouble would have to deal with them.

((OOC: You can explore on your own or together. However, the bar is somewhat loud and big so if you interact with someone, please let me know which ones of you are directly involved, which are watching from a distance and which one of you are otherwise engaged when this happens.))

Ariana ordered a drink at the bar for Nebesnogo and one for herself. After paying the barkeeper she pointed towards an empty table in the back.

"Lets sit down over there and enjoy this drink."

She moved to a table near the corner where the two cloaked figures that were drinking water were seated.
She sat down on a seat with a good view of the corner and waited for Nebesnogo to start a conversation. While taking small sips of her drink she was constantly focused on the two cloaked figures and watched their every move.

Entering the cantina, Shebi Ajava felt like she walked into a wave of fear mingled with a feeling of vertigo. Loosing her focus for a split second, she calmed herself and allowed herself the time to analyse the feelings. After a short moment she pin-pointed the strong feeling of fear.

"Did you feel that?", she whispered to Darones. "I'm going to get us some drinks and one of the waitress girls to talk to. You might want to find us a nice secluded bench without too much ears nearby."

Shebi Ajava patted Darones on the back, saying: "And when you think something weird is going on, just demand that I get you another milkshake; that'll give you time to talk to her as well, it might help her open up."

Shebi Ajava walked over to the bar, towards the big wookie that looks around like he owns the place.

Walking up to the wookie, Shebi Ajava glanced towards one of the slave girls, making sure the wookie caught her looking around. ((OOC: Force Level 5 + Intuition 4 to determine the correct timing))

"You seem like you own the place", she started. "My charge has kindly ordered me to get him a milkshake, and his father ordered me to make sure he didn't leave the cantina without learning something of importance." She quickly glanced towards the same slave girl again, smiled to sell her act, and stated "I have decided that he might as well learn something about the female form."

Shebi Ajava grabbed some credits from a pouch in her cloak. She neatly stacked them on the counter, "Here is something for the milk shake", she placed five extra stacks, each twice as high as the first, on the counter, "here is some compensation for the time your girl is not serving other customers", and neatly placing another she continued, with a wink, "and a little extra for the most expensive glass of clean water you have, his father's paying and I'm sure he wouldn't mind."

"Send her", Shebi glanced towards the same girl again, "over with the drinks, to wherever the little master has decided we sit."

" Yes I did " Darones responded as he also sensed the vague, rather unpleasant sensation of fear, which made him feel a bit uneasy and rather uncomfortable, " And to be honest it is rather unpleasant. "

" A milkshake.. ? " he said as he started to look around for a suitable place that would meet their needs and offer ample opportunities of both escape and some oversight of the bar. ((OOC: Forcelevel 4 + Intuition 5; to find a good place)) " Sure.. I guess I'll play along Miss Shebi " He answered with a softer voice, " this could be interesting although .. "

He stopped dead sentence as he saw that Shebi Avaja was no longer in earshot but already over at the counter talking to the bartender. He decided he would just do ask she had told him to, while he considered the implications and hints she had left him to slip into his cover role.

He remembered the long history and current use of Slaves which was common within the Veolian tradition, but he then concluded that this would be a most unlikely role for her to assume, given she was a Hemet of noble birth, with a high ranking position within her house.

No, with him being and looking like a youngster, whereas she was obviously older and heavily armed, it was more probable she would assume the role of chaperone or perhaps a respected bodyguard, with him as her charge. As he reached that conclusion; he sat down and waited, a bit eager, for his drink.

Ariana felt mildly uncomfortable studying the two figures. Looking at them closely, she was able to determine the two were Rutian (blue) Twi'leks, a male and a female though it was quite obvious that neither of these were slaves. They were confident, for one, and for another they equipped some very advanced customised weapons and armour, mostly hidden under their cloaks.

The odd sensation of vertigo soon became clear to Ariana - neither of the individuals registered a force signature. That was very unusual, as every living being had one. Like the feeling when you see you are moving but your sense of balance tells you that you're not, the vertigo seemed to come from the dissonance between her sense of the force telling her there was nobody there and her eyes telling her there was.

--

Shebi Ajava got a strange look from the Wookiee - he seemed to be studying her shape more than her words.

"Isn't he a bit young for that?" the Wookiee asked - luckily this Wookiee seemed to speak galactic basic "Actually, don't answer that, it is none of my business." he changed his mind when he saw Shebi counting out the money - it was pretty clear that any moral scruples he might have had had disappeared the second she had reached for the credit pouch.

"You! The little guy wants a milkshake and some 'special attention'. Make it happen." he instructed the girl Shebi had picked out of the crowd.

The girl nodded quickly "Yes Master!" she hurried up to look up what in the blazes a milk-shake was. Nobody in these parts ever ordered it, but luckily the computer was able to tell her how to make one.

It didn't take long for the green Twi'lek to move over to Darones' table. She leaned forward over Darones' shoulder, breasts dangling in front of him as she placed down the drink, taking rather long to put it in the perfect position.

"How may I serve you today?" she inquired submissively. Her voice was soft, and it was obvious that she had done this kind of thing routinely, but still Darones and Shebi could easily tell the girl was nervous. Not about them, that was clear as well, but something had her spooked.

" Thank you, " Darones responded, seemingly ignoring to dangling breasts before him, as he picked up the drink and tried it, leaving the slave girl standing there for a moment before addressing her again.

He looked for Shebi, who was still at the bar talking with the barkeeper, and decided he needed to stretch a bit so that Shebi could return to their table without drawing too much attention.

" Do sit down and relax for a moment, " Darones said, as he picked up to girl was nervous about something that was going on, " as I'm sure you are beautiful, I think that there has been a small misunderstanding about my.. interests.. " He paused for a moment to consider his next move, as he left a rather awkward silence.

" I guess I have to learn something, but I haven't been told exactly what that is, so if you don't mind to sit and just wait for a moment... "

Shebi Ajava followed the girl, after keeping an eye on the mixers manning the bar. Ever suspicious, she did not want them to mix anything out of the ordinary into their drinks. ((OOC: Force level 5 + Vision 4))

She overheard the last sentence uttered by Darones while walking towards him.

"Do not worry little one, I did not mean for her to entertain you.", she said to Darones, while sitting down next to the girl. Shebi Ajava extended her arm around the waist of the girl and pulled the girl onto her lap, while wrapping the slave in part of her cloak with the other hand. Incidentally, the shuffling of her cloak managed to block the view of most other nearby patrons.

Leaning close the girl Shebi Ajava whispered, just loud enough for Darones to overhear, "Calm down girl; I have no intention of doing anything you don't want me to. I just want to ask you some questions..."

Shebi Ajava soothed the girl by hugging her and whispering calming words to her. ((OOC: Force Level 5 + Intuition 4)).

"I agree, i hope we can find the merchants soon."

Ariana looked around for a serving girl.
A slave girl came to their table after a small gesture from Ariana.

"Hello, i would like to have one of your finest glasses of water."
Ariana spoke out loud to be heard in the corner.

After this she quickly looked around to see if anybody reacted to her words. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Vision 3))

As Arianna and Nebesnogo talked, two near-humans approached, shooing the slave girl who was bringing Arianna her water off.

"A Mudry and a Praetorian. How wonderfully subtle!" the woman spoke with a pleasant voice, eliciting a wide grin from the man. Arianna recognised them - they were the kissing patrons who had been making out in one of the alcoves.

The two of them sat down at the table the duo had chosen, looking them over a moment.

"Keep smiling." the man explained "You came in at an unfortunate time and but you are lucky we recognised you. I hope you brought weapons? You will need them. Don't draw them right now, lest you draw attention as well - you'll know when."

---

Shebi Ajava made sure there was nothing being slipped into their drinks. Best she could tell this was a normal, if synthetic, milkshake and di-hydrogen-mono-oxide in liquid form. The bartender didn't seem pleased with all the customers ordering water, but what could he do?

The slavegirl looked at Darones uncertain a moment, then going wide-eyed a moment as Shebi Ajava pulled her in on her lap - she hadn't expected that and obviously she was jumpy.

"You should get your youngling out of here..." she spoke nervously "It's not safe here now..."

---

As the two pairs of Jedi talked, another cloaked figure entered the cantina, ignoring the bar and beginning to fidget with an electronics panel - in the low light few people noticed, but being Jedi the group was trained to notice things and the lack of a force signature made him stand out to the Jedi.

"I would indeed agree we leave to our ship immediately to avoid getting caught in the crossfire, but there is the matter of the information you need..." Nade stated

"We don't have it yet." Ghany explained.

Nade nodded "It is actually held by the nervous Hutt on the leftmost balcony, don't look there now, it'll arouse suspicion. When the shooting starts, everyone will be distracted and we take him with us. Plan?"

"Plan!" Ghany agreed, seemingly ready for action. Both of them looked at Ariana and Nebesnogo expectantly.

After receiving the comms messages, Shebi Ajava looked intently at the girl in her lap. "Listen. One of my associates just told me that something's up; and to not draw my weapons just yet", she whispered to the girl while making sure Darones overheard, "I'm not sure what's going on here, but I want to make sure that no harm comes to the little one."

Pausing just short enough to make the pause significant, she continued: "Please tell me what you know, I'll protect you as well. And I'll do my best to free as much slaves as possible in the chaos that's going to ensue in a few moments. This cantina is no place for slaves."

Shebi Ajava said the last part while slightly shifting her cloak, making sure the girl in her lap saw her lightsaber.

((OOC: I would like to post a reaction in reply to the girl's response before all hell breaks loose. Unless all hell breaks loose before she is done deciding/talking, there will probably be time for a short comms message or quick walk to some other part of the cantina.))

Hearing Shebi speak about her weapons and the possibility of trouble, together with the remarks of Shebi, intending on freeing and protecting the slaves present in the bar; Darones nodded and shifted slightly on his seat, so that he could easier grab his weapons and dash up and over the table to join in a fight.

" I'm ready to do as instructed Miss " Darones said to Shebi, in order not to compromise their cover just yet.

His attention then shifted toward the cloaked figure, working the electronic panel, something was obviously wrong, and they may need to rush out of the cantina fast.

"Oh poop..." the girl realised when she saw the lightsaber, her green face going slightly yellow - likely the equivalent of going pale for someone of her colour.

"See those cloaked figures? They're Ultramarines..."

Ultramarines were Slave Rebellion special forces - originally formed by a group of dark blue Rutian Twi'leks and named for their exotic colour, as a unit they were instrumental in the liberation of several of the first Slave Rebellion worlds, kidnapping and executing Hutt leaders, rescuing slaves and even infiltrating and blowing up enemy star destroyers.

As the Slave Rebellion border was several sectors away, they were very deep in Hutt Space - and whatever they were here for, it was likely not to rescue a handful of slaves from a backwards space station in the middle of nowhere.

Meanwhile Darones observed the figure at the electronics panel - with his skill in engineering, he noticed the cloaked figure was disabling something, though he couldn't tell what without getting closer. Maybe an alarm or a defence system?

As they talked, Shebi noticed a sudden flash of blue in the shadow behind one of the Gamorreans guarding the place. In a split second, a heavily muscled blue arm came out of the shadow, a blackened blade slicing through the thick Gamorrean's throat as the two-hundred kilograms of the creature was pulled into the shadow, dissapearing from view. Besides the Jedi, nobody else seemed to have even noticed the Gamorrean's disappearance.

((OOC: A little inside look into the kitchen on this check:

The DC to spot is Vision based. As a base value, players have a minimum value of 7 on all vision checks (force level 4 plus 3 free points in vision). I want to make the difficulty be easy, but not automatic - only a character who invested points (be they attribute points or skill points) in the relevant zone should be able to succeed, but no large investment is required.

For this reason I put the DC at 9 - which means an investment of two points and which allows an automatic success for anyone who is actively spotting because of the circumstance bonus: If someone posts they are actively looking around, I give them a bonus on this unexpected vision check.

Ariana looked around in a recent post, but this was to see if her words, meant to draw out her contact, drew any attention - once they did, she presumably stopped looking around to talk and there is no mention of further looking around. Because of this, I don't add the bonus in this case. Darones also looked, but he was studying the cloaked figure at the panel. Other than this, there has been no active scouting of the place, as each Jedi is busy with their various interactions. As a result, I decided not to hand out any circumstance bonuses.

Final scores for each player (nobody has any vision related skills or force powers active):

Ariana Danacia : 7 -- 4 (force level) + 3 (vision)
Darones Rei : 8 -- 4 (force level) + 4 (vision)
Nebesnogo Sveta : 8 -- 4 (force level) + 4 (vision)
Shebi Ajava : 9 -- 5 (force level) + 4 (vision)

Thus, only Shebi Ajava notices the event.

Since most individuals here don't have a Force Level, nobody else notices what is going on (without the Force Level bonus, the DC is really rather difficult to make)))

Shebi Ajava, not concerned with any pretence of cover towards the girl in her lap, reached for her communicator: "The cloaked figures are ultramarines! Do not engage them. I repeat: do not engage the ultramarines." After realizing most padawan did not have extended military knowledge she added: "Ultramarines are the Slave Rebellion's elite operative corps. At least four in the cantina at the moment."

Directing her attention towards the slave girl: "I don't know what you have planned here, but you might want to scuttle along and inform your dark-blue friends that there are four Jedi in the cantina. While we do not intended to interfere, we do have our own mission to take care of -- a short discussion between our groups is probably the only way to ensure that we both reach our objectives. I'll move over to that alcove over there so one of yours can easily reach me."

She paused slightly before suggesting a course of action to the slave girl: "We need to make sure that the Wookie thinks nothing's wrong -- I'm planning to stand up while holding you, and kiss you before letting you go. That will draw his attention towards us, away from your operatives. Tell me if you don't want to."

With the girl's permission, Shebi Ajava parted with her as proposed. ((OOC: If the girl has a different proposal, Shebi Ajava will follow that instead; this includes getting slapped by the girl if necessary.))

"Be alert, and inform the group of new developments", she told Darones while she left the table.

While walking towards the alcove she subtly reached for her communicator: "I'm trying to talk to one of their operatives before this whole affair goes sideways -- if there are things I need to know with regard to our objectives, I need you to tell them to me now." ((OOC: Force level 5 + Fitness 4 + Stealth 3 to get to the alcove unnoticed))
