The Jedi Council has put out a new mission for Jedi Padawans - the investigation of a secret Hutt research station orbiting 1341-8010J RSP, a neutron star in Sector 20 -7. The mission is to determine whether or not the research station is being used to construct weapons and if so to get evidence for this as well as details on the weapons and the facility.

This mission will involve getting to the station unnoticed, gathering the information in secret and getting back out without being noticed and will involve the use of stealth and some street smarts.

((OOC: Depending on the success, Jedi involved will gain 1 or 2 skill points, to be spent on skills used during the mission. This mission requires a minimum of 2 Jedi Padawans.))

Shebi Ajava indicates that she is willing to participate in this mission.

((OOC: I put this as a context-less statement because I'm a bit unclear on these 'mission statements'. They seem to be IC, but are they the start of a briefing, or a message on some form of mission board? The wording suggests that it is some form of mission board.

It seems weird to just state "I'm willing to do this mission", and then suddenly having a master Screetor materialize that into the start of a conversation (or does the master just reply on the forum-like mission board?). In my opinion a forum-like mission board is very un-jedi like, as they seem to be big on the master-apprentice approach and a mission board just feels to 'mass messaging' for the Jedi to use it for matters of any importance.))

Darones indicates his willingness to partake in this mission.

((OOC: I think that Brend here raises a valid points, the Master Padawan structure is a point of good old fashion Jedi Tradition and is a such an important aspect.))

Upon hearing of their interests, Master Screetor send word to Darones and Shebi Ajava to meet him in the main hangar. With the Jedi Temple located atop a hill, the hangar was dug out in the hill itself, a large, wide opening under the temple allowing ships to land inside the hill - at the appointed time, the hangar was very quiet and Master Screetor himself was not yet present, or so it seemed.

Just before the time conveyed to him in the message of Master Screetor, Darones entered the main hangar. It seemed to be a bit more quiet than one would expect from a such a large hangarbay. After Darones checked that he had everything he wanted to bring, he looked around the hangar as he waited for both Shebi Avaja and Master Screetor, to make their appearance.

((OOC: For this mission Darones brings the following besides his regular clothing, hooded cloak and lightsabers (which he conseals on his body):
- 2 bolt pistols and bootknife
- a wireless communicator set, so that he could talk with Shebi in case of a split up
- a datapad (for slicing, programming ao), a first aid kit and an Engineers toolkit))

After checking her equipment, Shebi Ajava went to the appointed location. As she saw Darones, she walked over to him.

"Is the master here already?", she said, while carefully looking around. ((OOC: Force Level 5 + Vision 4)).

((OOC: Shebi Ajava's equipment for this mission:
  • Her blue lightsaber (adjusted to be waterproof by Darones earlier)
  • Her bow (yet to be statted out)
  • A wireless communicator headset
))

" Besides you , " Darones said as he watched Shebi coming in and walking towards him " I've seen no movement what so ever, and it has been awfully quiet around here too. It's not as quiet as I expected it to be this time of day "

He also looked around to if something seemed out of place, or would otherwise seemed strange to be there.. ((OOC: Forcelevel 4 + Vision 4))

The hangar remained eerily silent, when suddenly the hatch of a ship opened, a pad lowering to allow entry. Besides this, it remained silent, but the pad was clearly intended for the duo...

" If you ask me, " Darones said to Miss Shebi as he started to walk toward the opening hatch " that's probably our cue, but i don't like this. "

Darones pulled his hoodie over his head and looked around for anything that seemed out of place once more ((OOC: Force Level 4 + Vission 4)). Even though they were still well inside the Jedi complex, he didn't like the quietness in the hangar, and he was a bit on edge, threading carefully and quietly towards his destination.

"I am sure that this is all part of the master's plan. I think I like the quiet this way; it allows us to leave without too much people taking notice of us."

She walked with Darones towards the ship. She seemed more at ease than her companion.

During their walk to the ships Darones and Shebi start to feel another presence. When they look around, they see a girl entering the hangar. She has brown short hair and brown eyes, wearing a green chemisette and a backpack. She is looking at a datapad and when she looks up she sees that the others are about to leave and she hurries to the ship.

"I am sorry that I am late” she says and bows to apologize. "I wanted to get some extra information on my datapad, but the system is so slow. Oh, let me introduce myself. I am T'Sal a jedi padawan and researcher. I would like to join you two to investigate the research station. I think I can be of assistance with my profound analytical skills."

((OOC: T'sals equipment for this mission:
  • Her green light saber
  • Datapad (with extra slicing tools for droids excess points)
    In her backpack
  • extra clothing and a cloack
  • Scanner (to analyze stuff)
  • Visual and audio recorder (can function as binoculars with quite some range)
  • A wireless communicator headset
  • Spiderdroid assistant (has tools like screwdrivers etc. can lift and handle small objects)
  • Blaster pistol with stun mode
  • Flashlight, rope (10 feet)
))

Looking back, Shebi Ajava said: "You are most welcome. Delicate missions such as these always go better with a team of three."

Shebi Ajava waited shortly for the girl to catch up.

"We have not yet had the pleasure of training together, I am padawan Shebi Ajava, and this", Shebi Ajava gestured towards the boy standing next to her, " is Darones Rei, also a padawan."

"And," she continued in a distinctly more matronly voice, "it is not wise to brag about your abilities, you never know who is listening in, or what their intentions are."

Shebi Ajava paused for a moment to let the warning sink in, and continued in a much softer and friendlier voice: "What I know of your people seems to agree with your assessment of your own analytical skills though. And I am sure we can use all the smarts that are available, there will be some interesting problems ahead."

The three padawans carefully entered the ship by means of the lowered pad, stepping into a badly lit hangar bay.
Normally, this space would be filled with three fighters - not to mention that it was usually properly lit - but the fighters had been removed and instead the bay was filled with what appeared to be a small asteroid, a rock at least twentyfive meters long, ten meters high and fifteen meters wide.

Image

They could feel that the force around the rock was off, however. Already seeming out of place simply by being a huge rock in the hangar bay of a ship, the big grey piece of stone was also responsible for the bad lighting, its sheer size blocking the light from most of the lamps and casting its shadow everywhere.

Suddenly there was a whoosh, a whirr and a click as the pad that had allowed them entry raised up and the hatch of the ship closed...

When enter the hangar T'sal looks astonished to the asteroid. It seems to be off so she first inspects it with the force.
((OOC: : Force level 5 + Vision 3))
This is the hangar bay so the asteroid could probably be some kind of vessel so they would be able to get close to research station unnoticed.

T'sal gets her scanner out of the backpack en thoroughly investigate the asteroid up close. She wants to know from what material the asteroid is made and walks around it to see whether there is some kind of entrance to a vessel.

T'Sal's scanner couldn't reveal much about the rock - it was composed primarily of Nickle-Iron with various rock minerals mixed through. Nothing unusual for an asteroid. However, despite her scanner telling her this was a perfectly normal piece of stone and metal, her senses kept tingling as if something was off about it. Something that didn't show up on the scanner.

T'sal looks to the others. "Can't see something special, the scanner shows that the asteroid contains mainly Nickel and Iron. But I have this strange feeling. What do you think?". She was clearly not satisfied with the data the scanner showed. She walks back to them and looks around to see whether there are some other hints (or someone) in the hangar to help reveal the mystery about this asteroid. ((OOC: Force level 5+ Vision 3)).

((OOC: In some other post they used a color for things they say, so I wanted to give it a try. I removed the red tekst.))

Instead of reacting to anything, Shebi Ajava focusses on the stone. She continued with this for some time, trying to get anything from the stone itself. She trusted the force to guide her, as the stone was clearly connected to it.

((OOC: What does the red text mean? Is T'Sal especially angry?))

Darones noticed that T'Sal was cleary not quite content with the results of her scan, and he sensed the presence of the Force coming from the asteroid. " What if it is a ship? Or just an unusual asteroid? Maybe its purpose is to get us in to the research station, with us in disguise as scientists .. "

((OOC: The blue text like this one is blue to indicate the person is not actually present at the location, but is speaking through a holonet image - like the hologram of princess Leia asking help from Obi-Wan Kenobi. You can use the holo button in the reply field to mark text as holo text.))

Scans proved mostly useless in determining this rock was anything but a rock, and sensing didn't seem to be much help either. They could tell something was up with the asteroid, but not what it was. Unable to get anywhere with her focussing, Shebi Ajava moved closer, laying her hand down on the stone to better connect with it and sense what was going on.

Her sensing was rudely interrupted by a shiver that seemed to go through the rock, the place where Shebi Ajava had touched it seemed to move. Suddenly there was a bright light coming from inside the rock as its seemed to splice open as if by magic. Suddenly the team could feel the familiar force signature of Jedi Master Screetor inside of the asteroid.

"Well done." the Jedi stated, his voice echoing out as the group moved inside into what seemed like the belly of a small ship. "As you have no doubt realised, this is no ordinary asteroid. This ship was used during the Times of Chaos to escape pirates. It features a dampening field that sends out a false sensor echo, blocking scans from detecting anything but an asteroid. Even the Force has a hard time getting through.

This will be your ship for the trip to 1341-8010J RSP. The research station lies in an asteroid field and this ship matches any other asteroid there. It can get you very close to the station, though you will have to do the last bit on your own - no doubt if you dock an asteroid to their port, they will know something is up, after all. I am curious to hear if any of you has a plan."

"I had already formulated a plan for the final approach, master. Assuming the station uses long-range sensors as their main defence against infiltration attempts. Combined with the fact that the resolution of most long-range sensors is less than 3 meters I came up with the idea of using three small life-pods to make the final approach."

Quickly glancing at the other two padawans, she continued: "However, this ship you present us with offers the very useful option of getting closer to the station than I had anticipated. I think the last leg of the distance is best covered with a only a space suit. I have received specialist training in zero gravity combat and manoeuvring; but I'm unsure how many experience Darones or T'Sal have with space walks."

"I have not yet familiarized myself with Sundarian and Hiocan physiology, but hemet veolians require very little of a space suit. A thin layer of isolation and radiation shielding combined with a supply of breathing gas would suffice for me. With three custom-fitted suits we should be able to maintain our current level of freedom of movement and gain the capability to operate outside of any craft or station."

" I have some experience with -other then normal- gravity gained from my piloting several vehicles and pods, however I have never done an actual EVA or let alone a training in a zero gravity environment. While I concur that Miss Shebi's plan might work, I am unsure if we are able to successfully follow it. Perhaps we can come up with another plan, and have this EVA as a back-up for the moment. "

"I'm not familiar with zero-gravity except for the theoretical part. I think that with some training covering the last distance should be possible."

"I hope our vessel also had some long range scanners. Scanning and studying their activities from away will give us more information for our approach and more details on the station itself. I got some data on the station and their research activities we can use as a reference to confirm whether their official records are true."

T'sal points at her data pad where they could see a picture of the station with some notes.
"I got also some other information (rumors) on related issues and weapons so we have an idea where to look and what we could find if those records are false. "

"The ship is equipped with all means of a ship its size, including long range scanners. Gathering intelligence sounds like a solid first step regardless.

Might I suggest you request space suits with an active dampening field and grapplers to hook onto the asteroid on which the station is located? You would not want to find yourself missing your target and drifting off into space, especially with that neutron star. Actually don't spend too much time outside the ship - radiation there will likely be dangerous."

T'sal summoned up an image of the station:

Darones took a few moments to think whether or not he could come up with another plan to reach the station undetected besides an EVA, but the longer he considered other options, he realized that there actually were none, besides simply docking the rock.

" Its seems an EVA is indeed our only option " He admitted with some hesitation " But with the extra safety measures, it should be a doable but adventurous exercise. Do we have an estimate of how dangerous this radiation level is going to be? "

With a few touches T'sal manages to show up the parameters with the radiation level. "The values depend on the neutron star activity level and should be about this." And she shows them the graph with forecast.((OOC: No idea how dangerous it is.))

"We got some time before we get to the station. So we can come up with more ideas, also on how and where we want to enter the station. Miss Shebi as you are an expert on zero gravity I would like some guidance from you."
((OOC: T'sal want to use her travel time to train and study all the information she got Force Level 5 + Reason/Intuition 5/5 + scientist 3 (as they will be sneaking around they don't have much time to looks things up so she want to have already lots of hypothesis ready to make quick decision).))
