Seeing Ariana her action, Trigiel immediately noticed 'her plan': "Good thinking master Ariana, I distract them by providing fire while in the open, so you can unexpectedly fire a missile from your hidden place. I like it."

Trigiel walks into a more open position. He knows that he has limited mobility, so he stays one roll away from indestructible cover, like rocks or walls or empty metal crates. Not wooden ones, those always fall apart when you shoot at them.

"Nathan, how many rocket launchers have you looted? And leave the package behind some cover, so you your lightsaber free to use."

"Get the package out the way but make sure you keep an eye on it. I guess you should line up a rocket launcher as well Nathan. I will take the ship on the right."

"What sort of idiot would leave a rocket launcher just lying around at random, Trigiel? There where none." Nathan replied to his fellow cyborg.

"I'll keep an eye on the case. No worries." Nathan said, while he dragged the case behind some cover. Then he took cover himself. "Would it be a good idea to identify who is coming at us? How do we know those vessels don't belong to the guys we're supposed to hand over the package to?"

He used the scope of his DMR to quickly examine the approaching vessels. He looked for identifying marks or logos and weak points he could hit with his rifle, like engine intakes or manoeuvring thrusters that could be ignited by a well placed shot.

"Well the idiots who shot with rocket launchers at our ship of course. The one you shot down still lays near the balcony, you know, where you shot the guy down. He shot two missiles at the ship, both deflected by you and Master Ariana." Trigiel answered in reply on Nathan's 'who would leave rocket launchers behind' question.

Trigiel confidently steps onto the concrete roadway separating the two halves of the larger balcony. His position leaves him more vulnerable than the other two jedi, but he should be able to make a dive for it if things get to hot.

Nathan pulls the case into cover behind the nearest turret base (which is roughly 4 meters in diameter), allowing him to peer around the edge of the turret base. Using the strong magnification of the DMR's scope, he quickly glances over the incoming vessels. The turret placements and armouring quickly give both vessels away as military. The lack of identifiable markings or logos indicate either a private party or a black op.

As Nathan tracks the vessels through his scope, he gets a glance at the pilot of the nearest vessel: she appears to be a human in her mid-twenties wearing some kind of exoskeleton or powered armour. A second woman sits next to her, wearing the same kind of armour with what seems to be the hilt of two vibroswords sticking out from behind her back.

With the armouring on these vessels, Nathan needs a good amount of luck to hit a manoeuvring thruster in such a way it becomes disabled -- then again, he is a Jedi.


The first vessels is no longer flying above the ocean, at only two-hundred meters away it is now flying above the solid ground of the island. Incidentally, it is now also in range of Ariana's missile launcher! What will the Jedi do next?

"Quartermaster Nishra said that we would recognize him when we would see him. These look like military vessels that are here to bring us more of those pesky soldiers."

Ariana did not wait any longer and fired her first missile which she guided with the force towards the ship on the right.

"Megami no tame ni." Nathan silently cursed in Astrian. Stepping back behind cover, he starts to focus. Calming himself, letting the Force flow through him.

His eyes were off or closed depending on how you look at it. He readied his DMR. He started a clockwise spin. Stepped out of cover during his spin. Using the Force as a guide to correct his blind aim for the manoeuvring thruster of the closest ship, Nathan pulled the trigger as he finished a full 360 degree spin.

"Yipeekajeej motherfockers!" Trigiel said, spinning his rotary blaster before letting go a spray of 166 discrete full-powered shots per second towards the approaching shuttles. That should distract them.

@Nathan: The Force is not a thing with a plan, nor does it enforce a sequence of events. It can help you succeed in your intention to do something, but it won't make a decision for you. You will have to man up and take responsibility for your action yourself; the force can help you aim for either of the things you can meaningfully shoot, but you will need to have the intention to shoot it first.

You are free to leave your post as it is, which will have your Jedi experience a very well-timed learning moment about what the Force does not do -- or you can opt to update your post to make a decision yourself, and use the force to help you with that.

@Trigiel: The border between triggering the combat system and influencing the world is a bit of a gray area. I think that in this case taking checks makes sense, since no clear opponent has been identified yet, and the current action by Ariana is more of a world-influencing thing than an immediate combat manoeuvre.))

Trigiel starts unloading the Z-6 towards the vessels. The ammo counter starts racing down to 0 with dazzling speed as he fills the air with blaster shots. The pilots of the vessels do not seem intimidated at first, and simply stay their course. With the low accuracy of the Z-6, most shots miss anyway, and the few shots that hit the ships leave scratches on their armour. As they close in, Trigiel starts hitting the vessels more consistently, forcing them to split up and steer sideways to evade the spray of bolts.

The moment the vessels come in range Ariana launches the missile. Even though she guides it with the Force, the pilots skill in evasion appears to be enough to dodge out of harms way. It even seems as if someone else is trying to influence the missile as well, steering it away from the ship. That is, until Nathan blindly fires at the vessel. As the missile and the vessel speed towards each other Nathan hits one of its manoeuvring thrusters. The ship suddenly jerks to the side and, with only a 100 meters to the Jedi, is not quick enough to react, Ariana's missile slams into the vessel. The explosion takes out half of the vessel, and puts it into a quick spin towards the other ship. Colliding in mid air, both vessels sustain heavy damage.


Just after the explosion, as the vessels start going down, the Jedi see two figures jump out of the first ship. At the same time, three people jump out of the second ship. From this distance, it appears that the five figures are cyborgs, or are wearing some kind of battle suits. In mid-air, the five figures all activate their suits and quickly stop falling down. They are hovering at roughly forty meters above the base and 80 meters away from the Jedi.

From their vantage point, the Jedi could see that the battle suits worn by these five are advanced technology. These suits feature integrated boosters and shoulder-mounted rocket pods, and each suit has some form of wings -- either physical extrusions or projected. Nathan, Trigiel and Ariana have heard of these suits. They are used by the Core Hegemony Enforcers, the elite operatives of the Core Hegemony. They have heard stories of Enforcers capable of going toe-to-toe with Jedi Masters. Using their zoom, Nathan and Trigiel saw that two of these figures have lightsaber hilts instead of side arms attached to their thighs.

"This is luitenant Atamus of the Core Hegemony. We have no quarrel with you, surrender the package and you will be spared. You have five seconds to comply.", came the voice of a human male over the comms.

Even though Ariana is the higher rank, Trigiel had the feeling that he could answer anyway, given the situation: "This is Padawan Fecta Trigiel of the Union. I don't recognize you, therefore you are not the one to deliver the package to.

The package stays ours.

You can go back now, I wish you a happy and safe flight and give your commanding officer my greetings."

While Ariana listened to Trigiel she dropped the rocket launcher and relocated to a location close-by with good cover.

After hearing what Trigiel said she communicated over their private channel.
"Don't they require a vessel for that? They are not getting our ship!"

Trigiel replied to Ariana: "You are right master, but not really our problem, is it?"

Nathan put his rifle away. His now free hand hovered above his lightsaber. Then he used the private comm channel to Trigiel and Ariana.

"Heads up, two of them have lightsabers."

Next he tuned in to the open channel the Enforcer lieutenant used.

"I don't think you fully realize who you are dealing with lieutenant. You think it was luck that we took down both your ships with a single rocket and one blaster shot? We're Jedi and we have a mission. Why don't you and your men think about what we could do to you.

In the interest of the relations between the Core Hegemony and the Union, we have no desire to kill you if we don't have to. Now if you don't do anything stupid and stay exactly where you are, we might be willing to offer you a ride home when we're done here."

Keeping an eye on the Enforcers, Nathan took a few steps closer to the case.

"Am I the only one who thinks this nuke is making us way to popular?" He asked Trigiel and Ariana.

"You opened fire on us.", was all the reply they received.

The five figures split into two groups and draw various weapons. One of the groups jets directly towards the Trigiel while the other group spreads out their approach and remain more distant. With the five figures closing in, the Jedi get a better glance at their outfits.

Next to looking high-tech, each outfit seems to be customised for its wearer. In fact, it is the easiest way to distinguish them. The two jetting towards Trigiel respectively wear a ochre outfit with actual metallic wings, and a pink outfit with streamers of energy in place of wings. The three spread out wear blue, military green and grey outfits. Their outfits all sport metallic wings, with the wings of the military green outfit being made up of metallic ridges with and some kind of force field projection.

((OOC: I'm starting this fight in the traditional way: everyone first declares combat styles and weapons and only then does the actual fighting start.

Also, because the system isn't really made to handle 3-on-5 fights, I will try wing it a little and try to have only 2 or 3 of them in active combat (even though I declared style for each). The rest I will use as external forces: they will impact the battlefield, but lend their actions to DCA's and advantage actions of the other combatants. If at any time you do want to engage more of them in direct combat, go ahead! If you have a good idea to make these fights with multiple opponents more intersting, please tell ^_^))

Right. Like it would have mattered, you guys are so friendly. Ariana said over the open communication channel.

Ariana pulled her yellow regular blade lightsaber from her belt and activated it in her right claw. She directly continued with one of the DH-17 blaster pistols which she pulled into her left claw. She directly jumped out of cover knowing that she had to be closer to the case. Ariana flew up and made some distance towards Nathan and the case. She made sure she had a good overview of the situation and was still at a distance of at least 20 meters away from Nathan and Trigiel.

"Guys, stick together and protect the case! I will roam the sky." Ariana said to Nathan and Trigiel on their private channel.

"Yes, Nathan, you are the only one," Trigiel said, following with a slightly too happy tone: "Now, where are the Star Destroyers?"

After Ariana delivered her orders Trigiel put his rotary blaster and power pack back on the ground, while doing so he murmured in himself: "yeh, you guys stick together murmur, I take off, sooooo together... you stay here while I'll take aaall the fun. grmbl.

Oh hey, closing enforcers! " :D

Trigiel kept standing at his current location, close enough to the case to intercept the enforcers might they take a run for it. Far away enough that the case will not be harmed by missile explosions near Trigiel.

If the rotary blaster had still some juice in it, Trigiel lifted the z-6, ready to shoot the final shots. Else he activated his lightsaber, letting a purple blade with a familiar hiss come into play: "Time to clip the wings of these self-propelled flowers."

With his back to the turret base, the case between him and it, Nathan grabbed his lightsaber. Taking a combat stance, he activated it ready to take on the Enforcers.

To tide you over until the next posting (which is thursday again), I have posted my prototype combat styles for the Core Hegemony enforcers for you to look at: Style design notes and mechanics, Style dot distribution. Note that these are only prototypes, I typed them up while doing today's chat mission. The content in those files will eventually be moved somewhere onto this wiki when I'm happy with them. But for now, you at least have something to look at o_O

(Comments on those styles are, of course, very welcome. Though I suggest you open a new thread for them if you want to discuss them. If anyone opens a thread, I'll get the stuff on a wiki page asap.)))

Ok, here we go: Round 1! (I have added per-jedi headers for ease of reading, but the combat is in the same area, so feel free to interact to all sides ^_^)))

The two enforcers, Ochre and Pink, rushing towards Trigiel dodge and weave to make sure that Trigiel has no clear shot with his fearsome Z-6 rotary blaster. At the last moment, the Pink enforcer suddenly changed course to sweep six meter to the right as she makes a sliding landing. During her slide, she takes aim with her blaster and takes a few controlled shots at Trigiel's joints. At the same time, the Ochre enforcer uses both his vibroblades to make a strong vertical sweep at Trigiel as he slams into the ground next to Trigiel. Just after the attack by the Ochre enforcer, Pink fires another controlled burst, all aimed at Trigiel's left right shoulder.

Up close, Trigiel quickly spots that the Ochre enforcer is actually carrying a lightsaber on his belt. The Pink enforcer does not seem to do so.

Ariana

The Military Green enforcer breaks of from the spreading formation and heads towards Ariana, his thrusters spewing forth dark black smoke as he starts to gain altitude. During his ascent he fires a salvo of six small rockets in her direction aimed slightly above her, the rockets make a strane whirring noise, as if they have small flaps that are making in-flight course corrections. Immediately after he fires the salvo, he draws his lightsaber firmly grips it with both hands and activates it. The green blade is of regular size.

If both held their course, they would engage in melee roughly 30 meters above Trigiel. This would be the first actual airborne saber combat Ariana experienced, next to training of course!

The two enforcers not yet engaged with someone, Blue and Grey, focus their attention on Nathan and the case. The Grey enforcer launched a veritable barrage of missiles from his shoulder-mounted missile pods. The twenty-something small missiles hurled towards the turret tower, clearly not intent on attack Nathan, but the tower itself. The Blue enforcer brought up his sniper rifle and loaded a few rounds he pulled from his belty. Then he took careful aim at Nathan, not yet shooting but instead waiting for something.
