When Ariana shows her lightsaber, the human woman clearly became even more scared. Though it did increase her cooperation a little.

"Eh... We do. The Jovian Moonlight is our home... We have gardens, schools, living quarters, a plaza...", she trailed off, her voice no longer fully under her control as she realized she was being held hostage in her own home. Ariana could see that she was on the verge of tears -- and a crying woman heard over the communications was surely not going to improve the situation.

Nathan, meanwhile, spoke to captain Aleixo Kindalin. His words were clearly heard, but were not enough to convince the captain that they did not mean harm. In reply, the captain's voice came over the speakers in the room again: "It is you who has invaded our home. I care little about who you claim to be unless you can prove it. Throw out all your weapons and my men will stand down. You will be escorted to the brig. Then we will contact the nearest Jedi temple to verify your claim.

You have one minute left."

((OOC: Time runs out at my next designated posting slot (2015-01-22). Feel free to talk amonsgt yourselves before taking action. If time permits I will reply before my next posting slot if miss Tsuba is addressed.))

Ariana turned towards Nathan. "It is either leave now or surrender our weapons Nathan. Since we both agree that the alternative is not really an option... I am willing to surrender my weapons, however if they try to trick us I can not promise anything about survivors. They better not mess with my lightsabers."

"There has to be another option, there always is." Nathan said, more to himself then to Ariana. Then his attention was suddenly drawn to Miss Tsuba. He was shocked to realise he had let himself put such terror in the woman.

Looking to Ariana he spoke again.

"We can't do this. Look at her." He gestured to Miss Tsuba. "She's terrified out of her mind. We didn't come here to the ass end of the galaxy to hold a terrified woman hostage. I say we let her go and if that doesn't get the captain to talk to us...

Well I think between you and me we have enough skill to take out any guards without killing them."

((OOC: @Ariana: please post so I still have the ability to post before the time runs out at Brend's next post.))

"To be honest I never said she was a hostage, she has always been free to leave and still is. I have already thrown my weapon on the ground. What more do you want me to do?

We are not here to fight some simple guards, we need information."

"Doesn't change the fact we look like the bad guys here."

Nathan sighed.

"Well it's now or never I suppose." Then he contacted the captain again.

"Captain, we're letting Miss Tsuba go. You might want to warn your men to check their fire." Looking at Miss Tsuba, Nathan gestured to the door with his head. "Go, get outa here."

After Miss Tsuba was gone, he continued.

"Well captain, it's your move. But just in case you're planning to kill us now, could you at least tell us who this little fleet is and why you are here?"

The human woman quickly flees the room. This leaves the two Jedi alone in the classroom, the holoprojector still displaying a neatly dissected Bellis perennis. Outside, they heard the sound of a few boots, with their hearing they identify the sounds as a few people stepping aside to let miss Tsuba pass to the other side of a barricade.

"I have no intention of killing you if you peacefully surrender. The fact that you let miss Tsuba go gives credibility to your claim that you are Jedi.", the voice of the captain came over the comms, "Yet you have failed to throw out your weapons..."

"We have many monnikers, but we refer to ourselves simply as wanderers, others have called us the 'Mu collective' after one our first members, Mu.

You are aboard the Bright Canyon, the home of my people. Our companion vessels are the Shining Answer and the Justified Darkness. We are in the process of tracking down a group of smugglers that stole the beta version of a newsensor analysis subroutine we were designing. We tracked them to this region of space."

"Now that I have told you this, your time is still up. Throw out all your weapons and my men will stand down. You will be escorted to the brig. Then we will contact the nearest Jedi temple to verify your claim.

Five...

Four..."

((OOC: Count-down will finish in my next post. This means there is only an instant between now and then, so there's no time for long discussions and such. A single action (with associated check if necessary) is all you can do.))

"Goddesses help us." Nathan muttered. He grabbed his lightsaber from his belt and threw it out into the hallway. His side-arm followed immediately. His combat knives after that.

"Alright, captain we surrender."

He concentrated to be able to pull his lightsaber back with the Force in case the captain was lying.

Ariana was satisfied with the fact that the captain finally gave them some answers.

Ariana calmly said "Finally some straight answers, was that so hard..." While saying that she dropped all her remaining weapons on the ground. She first took her two sets of throwing knives from her belt and tossed them near the blaster, followed by her lightsabers which she tossed away and caught at the last second with the force, carefully putting them down on the ground for the last centimeters. While they landed the did not make any sound.

Ariana took a step back and waited for the people to come in.

((Check: 16 = 8 Force Level + 5 Energy + 3 Telekinesis -- Tossing her lightsabers on the ground without a scratch on them or a sound from the impact.))

((OOC: My second blaster is with Nebesnogo as far as I know, if this is not the case it is still on our little ship.))

Three...

The captain stopped counting when the Jedi threw down their weapons.

A moment later they hear the skittering of small metal feet on the floor. A swarm of roughly thirty smallish insect-like droids enters the room through the open door. Each droid has a roughly 10 centimeter body with six legs of 15 centimeters each with 3 joints evenly distributed over the leg's length. The droids deftly ignored the Jedi, and collected the assorted weapons that were lay about on the ground.

It was clear to the two Jedi that whomever programmed these droids was a master at their job: the droids rush in, grab the weapons with no sound other than the pitter-patter of their metal feet and rush out of the room, collecting the weapons in the hallway as they pass them. All the while they are weaving past each other, placing legs in interlocked positions to silently make near-perfect 90 degree turns and at the same time making sure not to put a single scratch on either of the two lightsabers. The swarm leaves the room as fast as it had entered the room, leaving nothing even resembling weapons on the ground.

Half a minute after the insect droids collect the weapons, the Jedi hear more footsteps. A moment later, four humanoid droids enter the room, immediately followed by four humans. The droids are aesthetically pleasing in a strange sort of way, they have sleek curves and the way they carry themselves hints at fluid motions normally not associated with droids. The four humans carry blasters rifles and wear an outfit somewhat resembling a military uniform -- yet each outfit is different. They did not aim at the two Jedi, but from their serious looks it was clear that they would not hesitate to take aim if needed.

"Right. You two, come with us. We'll escort you to the brig while the captain contacts a Jedi temple.", one of them said to the Jedi.

The droids and the humans form a simple but effective escort with two droids in front, two to the sides and the four humans walking behind the pair. As they walk through the ship they quickly discover that the ship has internal force fields blocking most of the pathways, which is something most ships do not have due to the annoyance of maintaining all the projectors.

Their trip to the brig was cut short by a sudden stop as one of the soldiers used his comms device. "Yes sir, we will."

"It seems your story checks out. The captain wants a word with you two.", the soldier said as the force fields were deactivated.

The pair of Jedi is escorted to a conference-style room where a few people, and several guards both droid and human, were already waiting.

As they entered, a human male got up. "Please, sit down", based on his voice the Jedi recognize him as the captain of the ship.

"I think some introductions are in order. My name is Aleixo Kindalin.", he then quickly introduced the other people sitting at the table. 'Liliana Egithon' an older human woman as the chief of security, an egwarian called 'Machinter' is introducted as a maintenance engineering programmer, and a male Twi'lek simply introduced as 'Ral'.

The three then looked at the Jedi.

"My name is Ariana Danacia, Jedi Knight of the Union.

Once again, our apologies for scaring the children. We did not know what we would find in your ship. It seems we are looking for the same smugglers."

"Captain, I would like to apologise for my actions against you and your crew. My previous occupation taught me to try and use everything to my advantage and not knowing the full situation, or you for that matter, I attempted that by acting the way I believed you would react to in the most advantageous manner. If you would be so kind to pass on my apology to the little girl we encountered on your ship first and Miss Tsuba, I would be grateful."

Nathan bowed to the captain.

"In the mean time, I am Padawan Nathan Miodrass Asillion."

Nathan straightened himself out, remaining standing.

"Your ship seems very advanced. Could you tell us who you are working for?"

The chief of security looked at Nathan and spoke with a slightly agitated voice that carried an air of authority nonetheless.

"That's none of your business."

Before things started to go in the wrong direction, the captain interjected.

"Your apology is accepted, though your actions are not."

"Why don't we start out by establishing if we are looking for the same smugglers. I have already told you that we are tracking a group of smugglers that stole a beta version of a new sensor analysis subroutine we are developing. What makes them such an impressive threat that the Jedi have to get involved?"

"They disappeared from Union Patrols sensors while approaching Union territory. Then they reappeared four hours later going in the opposite direction. They have been smuggling weapons for quite some time."

Nathan replied to the captain, unfazed by the chief of securities attitude. A thought shot through his head. He considered it late considering his usual paranoia. But pushed the chain of thought that wanted to follow it back for later.

He observed the fours reaction to his next words very carefully.

"We went to the planet they are operating from but all we found was a group of Ultramarines."

((OOC: Nathan's check to observe the reaction of the others is a partial succes: approved.))

As Nathan explained why they were here now, the four listened attentively. The egwarian, Machinter, seemed pensive when Nathan told them about disappearing from the sensors.

When Nathan informed them of their discovery of a group of Ultramarines all four looked surprised at the fact. Paying careful attention to their reactions, Nathan got the impression that the captain, while still being surprised by the fact, is taken less off-guard by the revelation.

After Ariana added the tidbit about tracking the smugglers to this system the twi'lek, introduced as Ral, replied.

"So, you're saying that these smugglers are in contact with a group of Ultramarines... On what planet was that?"

Before the Jedi could reply the egwarian interrupted.

"I know why they stole it. The beta program. The disappearing. Jedi, tell me where exactly they do it!", his staccato speech burst into the room with clear enthusiasm.

((OOC: These dialogue parts are very slow with a once/week schedule. Is it possible to speed up to twice/week? (I would maintain thursday and add a posting moment on Sunday.))

"This star system is the center of the area that they disappeared in. I have more data on my datapad and our Astronav droid can display it. However we left it with our little friend on our ship.

I am willing to share the information we received from the Sundarian monitoring array."

Nathan paused a moment when he realised the people on this ship were not with the ultramarines. He then quickly hooked on where Ariana stopped.

"As soon as we know what these ultramarines allegedly stole from you. After all, we don't know if these smugglers are connected to the ultramarines. I'm sure you understand that we are on a mission to stop the smuggling of weapons into the Union. If this program of yours is connected to that we need to know. I believe we can help each other, despite our earlier problems. It would certainly be more beneficial to work together, would it not?"

If the program the egwarian spoke of was what Nathan thought it was, the Union Military would probably be very interested. And if they weren't the ACA most definitely would.

((OOC: I don't really mind to up the frequency, though if it becomes less dialogue and more action I would like to have it slow down again.))

The egwarian turned his full attention to Ariana as he starts fiddling with his obviously customized datapad. "Data port ready.", he simply said as he hands Ariana a cable. The man does not seem to believe in casings around his equipment: the cable seems to be permanently attached to his datapad through some signal converter that is attached directly to the crystal back panel of the pad. He looks at Ariana with a patient gaze while he holds the cable for her to grab it.

Ral, clearly used to the random interruption by Machinter, simply continued talking to Nathan.

"Working together sounds nice in theory, but you have already shown to be very untrustworthy... Let's start by you explaining why exactly you think that these ultramarines you encountered stol from us? And why are you evading the question about where you met these ultramarines?", his tone was not the friendliest, but it was clear he asked out of interest and not to issue some accusation.

((OOC: Ok, we will up the frequency for now. Though we have been running this mission for way too long already, so I don't think there will be another action sequence ~_~

Ariana grabbed the cable and attached it to her datapad. She transfered the data they received from the Sundarian monitoring array. "This is the data that led us to this star system.

Our intel showed us that the smugglers went to the Xil-Rymea system. This is where we encountered a ultramarine presence.

Could you tell us more about the stolen program?"

((OOC: I'm guessing that Nathan hasn't gotten used to the posting frequency yet... EDIT: Or he still had to post...))

The egwarian starts to tap commands into his datapad the moment the data is transfered. He started to pay attention to Ariana only after he has adjusted several parameters of an an analysis program and started the analysis.

"The program they stole,", he started a sentence then looked at Nathan, "Do not think ultramarines stole it. Slice job was very sloppy, data cyrstals burned out.", then turned his attention back to Ariana, "is a new algorithm for multidimensional sensor coverage analysis. Idea was to use algorithm to reactively recalibrate sensors when environment changes. For example, increased sensor accuracy and efficiency in nebulas where others fly blind."

Other than the hurried talking of the egwarian, the room was silent. All eyes, except those of Machinter, were now on Nathan, waiting for an answer.

Ral simply stated "Well?"

((OOC: whoops sorry. :P))

Nathan listened to the egwarian, then looked to Ral.

"I didn't suggest the ultramarines where connected to the smugglers. To be honest, I thought you were allied with them. It's no secret some Union worlds endorse slavery, I thought that you and them might be supplying weapons to terrorist groups fighting against those practices. It's clear to me now, that is not the case."

Considering what Machinter said another possibility popped into Nathan's mind.

"Is there anything else this program might be used for? Blocking sensors or maybe shield analysis to circumvent them? And how sure are you the destruction of the data crystals wasn't intentional?"

Machinter looked at Nathan.

"Program can not block sensors, just like microphone can not block sound. Data crystals were damaged because data transfer too fast, fast transfer risks burning out before transfer complete. I think it is stupid risk, not smart destruction. Maybe I am wrong."

He looked at the screen again. "Aha!", he shouted out.

"Sensor analysis of Jedi data done. Compensated for sensor drift and miscalibration. Source data not very accurate.", he sounded annoyed, "Pattern clearly present. Disappearances localized around local minima of area coverage density function with high noise ratios."

He looked at the Jedi as if this explains the whole situation.

"Well those sensors where designed to detect large military fleets, not track down individual small transport ships. At least I think that's the case."

Straining his brain to attempt to translate Machinter's explanation into basic galactic, he continued.

"So..., what you're saying is that the smugglers hide in area's with high amounts of background noise or otherwise difficult to scan? And that whoever is responsible stole your program to be able to fly through these areas safely? Could that program of yours eliminate such sensor gaps?"

"Large military fleets are made of individual ships.", Machinter replied with a smile to Nathan.

"Yes, you are right. Use algorithm to find 'noisy corridor' area with much background noise and low coverage. Most likely tracking algorithm rejects small ship footprint as background noise.", he looks at Ariana, "When tracking fails, tracking algorithm thinks ships disappear."

Machinter's eyes take on a happy glance as he shakes his head 'yes'.

"The program is made for sensor calibrations, so I don't see why not.", the captain takes over. "Yet that does not really solve our problem. We still have to deal with the thieves that stole our program, and developing a program like this is a costly business...."
