Darones Rei - PC
In a response of the droid surfacing and the attack it makes on Shebi, who manages to fend of the first series of attacks with relative ease, drop the small boulders he had in his right hand and reached for his lightsaber.
" Try to keep him busy, " He shouted towards Shebi, " I should be able to get behind it with one single jump and strike it in surprise. Once i'm behind it , we will both benefits from more favorable conditions. "
Darones backed against the wall and focused his thoughts on the second stepping stone they had created, which was behind the droid. He then dashed forwards with great speed and leaped over the droid, using both hjs Force Powers in unison. ((OOC: Forcelevel 4 + Fitness 4 + Acrobatics 1; Force Speed 1 + Force Jump 2)) During his short flight through the air he hoped to land an attack against the unsuspecting droid. ((OOC: attack 6/7/6, defense 6/8/7; circumstance: While making his jump he attempts to strike the droid while it is still off-guard))

Shebi Ajava - PC
Still dripping wet from the column of water, Shebi Ajava sidestepped the droid's double attack while dropping her saber low. She was slightly worried about her saber, "I hope it won't stop working during a block", she tought to herself.
Hearing Darones shout out his plan for all to hear, she adapted to his tactic. "A good tactic will work even if the enemy sees it coming", the voice of her special ops trainer echoed through her head. While she felt the water seeping into her clothing and armour she held her counter attack until Darones comes overhead.
While Darones comes flying past she counter attacks with a vicious upward cut. She hoped to force the droid into a block or awkward dodge, leaving him open to other attacks. Just before her counter attack she adjusted the position of her feet, preparing for a follow-up attack after her first strike.
((OOC: --ROUND 1--
Defence dodge 8/9/7.
Attack slashing 4/6/3. direct combat action: +2 cutting, circumstance: aerial assault by Darones.

Shebi easily sidestepped the attack, which went wide - even with the lack of room on the slippery rock, the warriors nimble reflexes allowed her to get out of the way in time. ((OOC: Shebi's defenses of 8/9/7 are more than enough to defend against the 6/6/6 attack))
Darones made the mighty leap to the other side of his opponent, landing safely despite the slipperiness of the wet stones ((OOC: Check succeeded easily)). His new position was more than enough to provide the duo an important tactical advantage. ((OOC: From round 2 onwards, you both get a +1 bonus on all attacks))
Shebi and Ajava attacked simultaneously, which left the droid with a much harder time defending himself, but not knowing how the droid faught, and what degrees of freedom its limbs had limited their ability to damage it.
((OOC: Darones I suspect forgot the -2 attack penalty for the first round.
A Direct Combat Action would require more than simply taking advantage of an existing circumstance, but rather you should try to create the circumstance (which is why the check is required). For that reason I won't apply the bonus from the Direct Combat Action this turn. I am however applying a +1 roleplay bonus to cutting for the detailed description of timing and the motion of the attack and character positioning.
With all that considdered, the attacks become 4/5/4 (Darones) and 4/7/3 (Shebi) respectively, for a total combined attack of 4/7/4, not enough to penetrate the droids 7/7/7 defenses.
-- ROUND 2 --
The droid is flanked, giving both Shebi and Darones +1/+1/+1 on attack. Additionally, the -2/-2/-2 penalty for the first round no longer applies. You use the style you used in Round 1 for defence to modify your attacks.))
The droid kept on its current target, striking both energy blades at Shebi, one coming from each side the left one on shoulder height and the right one at knee level. Side-stepping wouldn't do it this time round!
Despite this, the droid did not have much creativity in its attack - it was a standard attack pattern for a two-bladed fighter. Then again, that was to be expected from a droid - unlike a living opponent, they didn't posses the smarts of a real warrior.
((OOC: The robot still uses the 'training droid style'. Its defences this turn are 7/7/7 and its attack on Shebi is 8/8/8 this time!
Remember you combine your attacks so if one of you focusses on cutting and another on slashing, for example, you stand a better chance of beating his defences.))

Shebi Ajava - PC
Shebi Ajava wasn't willing to get pressed into the defensive. She knew that blocking wouldn't get her anywhere, they would have to press their advantage while her saber lasted. "Maybe I can cut off one of it's arms to get a new saber if needs be," she tought to herself.
She kicked herself into a twist back flip, allowing the droid's blades to pass over and under her body while she made a full twist. After half a twist she arced out her saber, using the force of the twist to turn her aerial dodge into a fierce slash into the droid's right shoulder.
((OOC: Keeping Shii-cho as style. Attack 7/9/6, Defence 8/9/7;.
Calculated flanking +1/+1/+1 into the scores
EDIT: Retracted Direct Combat Action bonus, see Direct Combat Actions thread for explanation.))

Darones Rei - PC
Darones landed on the second stepping stone they had created, which meant that he was now behind droid, providing both himself and Shebi with an important advantage. As the droid launched another series of attack against Shebi, Darones used scarce ammount of time he now had to study the drone and its movements, to find a suitable place to strike. ((OOC: Forcelevel 4 + Reason 4 + Mechanical Engineering 1 ; Darones can probably build similar droids))
He then pressed the advantage and went in close behind the droid to launch a precision strike against the joint in the very center of the droids body, hoping to cut the droid in half. ((OOC: Direct Combat Action +2 piercing))
((OOC: Shii-Cho style remains unchanged, attack 7/8/7, defence 6/8/7 ; flanking factored in, Direct Combat Action +2 piercing (not yet included) ; 'going for the critical spots/joints'))

Shebi used her acrobatic skills to dodge in between the blades, neatly avoiding them both ((OOC: Defence successful)) and attacking in the same smooth motion.
Unfortunately, the two padawans were unable to find the openings they were looking for - the droid had been well programmed and didn't let itself be taken advantage of so easily, yet Shebi Ajava still managed to get close enough to slash her blade over the droids chest. Leaving a burning trail of molten metal in its wake on the droids armour, the attack hadn't hit any critical components (Shebi after al didn't know as much about droids as Darones), but this would definitely leave a scar.
((OOC: No Direct Combat Action bonus this time, though you can try again next turn - see the split off topic for detailed discussion.
However, I am giving a +1 roleplay bonus to slashing for an awesome manoeuvre. Final attack for Shebi 8/9/6.))
As the droid dodged backwards to avoid more damage from the slash, Darones immediately took advantage of the opening, unfortunately failing to get the crucial hit on the central joint: his knowledge of droid building was more then enough to tell him where to hit the thing, but knowing and doing were two different things, especially in the chaos of battle.
((OOC: No Direct Combat Action bonus this time - merely knowing where to hit is not enough. Final attack 7/8/7 for a total of 8/9/7 combined. That's enough to score a minor injury (already described at Shebi).
-- Round 3 --
The droid is flanked (+1/+1/+1 for both of you) and off balance (-1 on attack and defence for the droid). The droid does not change style and now has a 6/6/6 defence and 7/7/7 attack))
Despite the damage, the droid was still operational and turned its arms to slash at Shebi one more time, this time sending both blades down from up high - still, avoiding the slash had left it off-balance and the slippery rocks made it hard to keep upright, forcing it to compensate - was this the chance for the duo to finish it off?

Darones Rei - PC
While Darones was a little disappointed that his effort failed to penetrate the droids defences, he saw that Shebi's aerial maneuver wasn't only successful but also managed to damage the droid and knocked it off balance, leaving it less able to defend itself against their combined attacks.
As the drone brought up his arms to attack Shebi, while he struggled to keep his balance, Darones decided the change his target. While the central joint provided a critical point, and landing a hit would surely cause serious damage to the droid, it was well defended and difficult to hit.
This time Darones would again rely on his connection with the force and focus his attacks on both arms of the droids, just above the elbow joints, as it attemped to hit Shebi. He stepped back to the very edge of the stone has standing on, careful not to lose his balance as he observed the distance he had to clear the hight of the droid, the room for him between the droids arms and the room on the stone where Shebi was.
As soon as the droid reacted its arms to retake the defencive stance, Darones dashed forwards on the slippery stone and jumped up. ((OOC: Force level 4 + fitness 4 + acrobatics 1; Force Speed 1, Force Jump 2.)) As he gained height and speed, he formed himself into a little ball with both his sabers, shoulder-high, facing outward. He tumbled between the droids arms, hoping the his timing was good enough to land a hit, and prepped for a difficult landing.
To squeeze in with Shebi on the same rock, Darones kept himself as small as possible and brought his left knee up to his chest, so that he would land on his left foot and right lower leg while his back and head were arched in between his legs, again, remaining as small as possible.
((OOC: attack 7/8/7, defence 7/8/6; DCA +2 piercing (not factored in), considering the risk of the action and the inability to defend or react to any incoming attacks, i would also take a -2 penalty of defence.(not yet factored in)))

Shebi Ajava - PC
This droid was programmed, or built, for this exercise; it should be better at keeping it's footing; maybe this droid isn't well suited to it's current situation, a split-of part of Shebi Ajava's brain informed her in the few moments she had to think over her next attack. Seeing the droid stagger to keep balance gave her an idea; she just needed to get close enough.
Shebi Ajava quickly crouched low on the edge of her stepping stone, trusting her armoured boots to have just enough grip to stop her from slipping. Just as she starts falling over forwards she pushes off with all her strength, and uses the force to add even more power to her jump.
As she speeds into the the arc of the droid's double swing with ease, she took a single step on the edge of the droid's stepping stone before slamming into the droid's metal body. Anticipating this outcome, she had held back her lightsaber and used the speed of her forward rush to pierce the droid's pelvic region. She hoped to cut upwards once her blade was firmly lodged in the droid. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Strength 5 + Acrobatics 2 + Force Jump 1))

((OOC: The flanking bonus is a result of a Terrain Actions. Terrain Actions take a turn before they are applied, but afterwards continue to exist until another Terrain Action (or a special event) removes them. So the +1/+1/+1 will continue indefinitely (until the combat is done obviously)))
Shebi dodged out of the blades way, slamming her saber into her opponent right after her body hits the metal ((OOC: DCA approved)), cutting deeply into the chasis, electric sparks flying out of the droid and giving a strange tingling sensation to Shebi combined with the taste of metal. If she'd have had hair like Darones, it'd be standing up but the electric charge wasn't harmful as it easily dissapated through the water.
Darones meanwhile made like a ball of lightning, shifting positions to take out the droid, the tip of his saber piercing through the droids elbow joints into its chest along the arm. The scent of burning circuitboards was familiar to Darones, though usually that involved a soldering iron, not a lightsaber.
Its internal systems destroyed, the droid came crashing down, but Shebi and Darones were nimble enough to get out of the way of the droid, if not the splash, leaving them wet once more.
With the hidden enemy in the water defeated, all that remained was for them to scale the wall back up to the other side to finish their mission!
((OOC: I was gonna deny Darones' Direct Combat Action on the grounds that it was similar to the dodge / attack combo by Shebi, but I changed my mind:
A jumping action can indeed be a direct combat action, and a proper check was made. Additionally, I must admit taking a liking to the idea of trading a bonus for a penalty - thats similar to what Shebi was doing, I think.
I am going to rewrite the Direct Combat Action to be more of a trade off between attack and defense values rather than a flat bonus - probably a +2 bonus on one of the six attack / defense scores and a -1 penalty on another (players choice for both). I'm also going to relax the requirements a bit.
I'm also giving each of you a +1 bonus on your attacks.
So DCA approved for a 8/9/10 attack. With Shebi's attack of 8/10/9, this comes to a total attack of 8/10/10, beating all of the droids defences 6/6/6 easily for a kill!

"Mmm. Why don't you go scout for a good location to climb up?", Shebi Ajava said while she stared at the droid's body in the water. "I'm going to try and get that droid's body back up here. Not only did it have water-proof lightsabers, it might contain some other parts that might be useable to scale the cliff."
Shebi Ajava started to concentrate in the droid's body in the water. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Energy 4; Telekinesis 1))

" Good idea, i'll see if there is a spot that seems doable " Darones said as he jumped over the few stepping stones they had placed, on to the other side of the river. The cliff was high, but with his climbing gear and a little help from the force, they should be able to climb it.
((OOC: Force Level 4 + Vission 4)) Darones studied the cliff-face for spots with a smaller gradient then others, and with enough overhanging rock or branches in which he would able to secure his grappling hook on the end of the 12 feet of rope he was carrying. He also took the time to study the vegetation, remembering the look of the small plants which Shebi had told him would give a nasty rash, he wanted to make sure to avoid those while climbing, if possible.

Shebi concentrated as the body of the droid very slowly floated to the surface, water flowing out of the holes in its shell as it raised above the river. The thin layer of water that remained gave the metal of the droid a silvery shine.
It's weapons were now inactive - someone with technical know-how would probably be able to tell if they could still be used and if so how to reactivate them.
Meanwhile, Darones scouted out the cliff face, finding most of the area covered in the rash-causing vines, but to one of the sides there was a clear area which looked like it was climbable. They'd have to be careful near the top though - most of the rock was stable, but at the top there were a few loose rocks - he should make sure the rope was properly secured before using it to aid in the climb.

Shebi Ajava looked over her shoulder, and saw Darones studying the cliff face. "Darones, do you know anything about droids? I'm not sure whether to cut the lightsabers loose, or if there is some better way to pry this thing apart!", Shebi Ajava shouted to be heard over the rushing of the water.

Darones Rei - PC
Darones had seen enough of the cliff face, and came back to Shebi, who had managed to lift the droid out of the water. " We should be able to climb the cliff over there, " he said as he pointed out the route he had found " My grappling hook and rope will provide us some extra stability and safety, so it shouldn't be to hard "
He then took a look at the droid, and studied the make up of the droid and the extend of the damage they had inflicted on it. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Reason 4 + Mech. Eng 1)) " As for the droid, I didn't bring my tools, but ill see what i can salvage. I take it your first interest is in these lightsabers. "

The droid was rather badly damaged, though some of its structural supports could probably be used as makeshift pitons - with their lightsabers it would be easy to cut them into shape.
Being an expert in the area, Darones knew the blades that extended from the droid were powered by the machines internal power supply - that would mean he would have to salvage the power supply and Shebi would have to carry it in a backpack or something - most impractical.
However, he could likely salvage the hydrofilter and apply it to Shebi's lightsaber, which would make it resistant to splashing water. To get the saber to function underwater, he'd need a workbench and proper tools though - and probably better material than training droid salvage.

" Hmm.. " Darones said as he studied the extend of the damage they had caused, " I could salvage the droids power-supply, which powers the light sabers and the other droidsystems, but its not easy to, and its heavy and bulky, which means you would have to carry in a backpack during the climb. "
He then started to salvage the much smaller hydrofilter, What i can do here, He explained to Shebi, " Is apply this filter here to your saber, it would make it more resistant to splashing water, I could try to get it in to working underwater aswell, but for that i need atleast the proper tools and a specialist workbench, besides, i'd rather use a better filter for it then. "
" We can also make a few more pitons from the drones structural support plates, " He said while he finished salvaging the hydrofilter and waited for Shebi response on whether to apply it to her saber. " we can use our sabers to cut them roughly into shape, they might give us an extra edge during the climb.

"I'm interested in the hydrofilter, but I'm to understand that Jedi are supposed to create their own lightsabers." Shebi Ajava pointed to her own light saber, "This one was given by me as a training saber, and I'll probably give it to another padawan once I have created my own saber. The other parts sound like too much work, we'll leave the parts here -- I'm sure that master Screetor will find some use for parts that survived"
She gave the droid's body one last look. "Let's just take the hydrofilter, and leave it at that."
Ignoring the water still dripping from under her armor, Shebi Ajava started towards the cliff face. "We have used up enough time already. Let's fix this training light saber once we are done with this test. If we work together we should be able to get that grappling hook up the cliff without too much trouble; it's lighter that the droid after all. Just tell me where and how the grappling hook should be positioned."
((OOC: Shebi Ajava is going to use Force Level 4 + Energy 4 + Telekinesis 1 to manipulate the grappling hook up the cliff and into a strong grapple. She will wait for Darones to assist her and tell her where the hook should go.))

Darones Rei - PC
"Okay, " Darones responded as he put the hydrofilter in his pouch, and got out his climbing gear and robe, which he attached to the grappling hook with a strong-tied knot. He then walked with Shebi to the area of the cliff-face he had founded earlier, which he had deemed doable for them to climb.
As they arrived he pointed out the ledge, overhanging the cliff-face several feet up in the air. " We can use that ledge as a bases for our climb, it looks strong enough to hold the grappling hook first, and once we reach it, it should support one of us for some time, while we reattach the grappling hook higher up and one of use continues the climb. "
Darones handed Shebi 2 carbines and showed her how she could use them to make a makeshift climbing harness using the single robe they had. " If you want, we can use these carbines for extra safety, they should prevent us from falling all the way down, should one of us loose grip during the climb. "

Shebi used the force to raise the grappling hook up along the cliff wall where Darones had indicated, easily hooking it on the ledge where her younger companion had indicated. The rope now hung down the cliff-face, tightly secured up above - this would make the climb a lot easier.

Shebi Ajava - PC
((OOC: I was waiting for Darones, the climbing expert, to do something. My patience has ran out though.))
Shebi Ajava paid attention while Darones explained the construction of the climbing harness. Once he was done explaining she quickly created her own harness.
"I'll go first", she said while starting up the cliff face.
((OOC: Force level 4 + Fitness 4 (+ Athletics 1); not sure if athletics counts... Shebi Ajava will react with Force Jump if she looses grip.))

Shebi easily made her way up the first part of the climb, getting safely to the ledge Darones had indicated earlier. She unhooked the grappling hook and secured the rope for Darones to follow behind her, though she'd have to climb up first before he could get to the ledge - it wasn't big enough for the both of them. The next part would be more difficult, but once they had covered that, they'd reach the top and be in the clear.

Shebi Ajava - PC
Shebi Ajava continues with their plan by manipulating the grappling hook up the cliff Although she has some difficulty determining where she should place it next, she tries her best. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Intuition 3 to determine placement / Force Level 4 + Energy 4 + Telekinesis 1 to manipulate the grappling hook))
Once the grappling hook is firmly wedged in the cliff face again, Shebi Ajava climbs up again to free up the ledge for Darones. ((OOC: Force level 4 + Fitness 4 (+ Athletics 1); not sure if athletics counts... Shebi Ajava will react with Force Jump if she looses grip.))
((OOC: Just a reminder for you both (admin and player of Darones), Veolians use the <family name> <given name> scheme.))

Shebi Ajava carefully made her way further up - using careful manipulation of the grappling hook, combined with the carbines and the good location Darones had picked out. Finally she reached the top of the cliff, the exit door awaiting just a few steps away - the way was now free for the boy to climb all the way up.

Darones Rei - PC
With Shebi Avaja, standing on top of the cliff, the way was now free for Darones to climb up.
He used the same trick with his 2 carebines, to create a makeshift safety harness at the end of the rope and started his climb up to the ledge in the center of the cliff.
((OOC: Forcelevel 4 + Fitness 4 (+ Atlethics 1), Darones will use Force Jump should he loose grip))

Darones was a skilled climber and if Shebi Ajava could make it up without help, he most certainly could. Slowly but carefully he made his way up the rock slope, until the Veolian woman could see his hand placed on the edge of the cliff, carefully pulling himself up and standing, looking out over the gorge they had crossed, the fake river and the slaughtered remains of the droid they had so expertly beaten.
After one last look, the duo turned to leave by the door where Jedi Master Screetor was already waiting for them.
((OOC: You have completed the 'Basic Training' mission! Shebi Ajava and Darones Rei each gain 1 skill point! Please log this accomplishment and the associated reward on your character page for posterity and enjoy spending it!))
