[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

The Jedi Council is looking for four volunteers to travel to 7 -6 to transport an ancient Hiocan artifact.

Professor Komian, head of the Zavel research institute, has requested assistance with the extraction of the artifact from the Hali Krani dig site on Erau, and the transport of the artifact out of the warzone and to the Djana Research centre in 10 -5.

The mission has three objectives:

• Extract Professor Komian and his assistants,
• Secure the "Masuk' faik-khush" (archelogical code ZA-HK-534.343) artifact from the Hali Krani dig site on Erau,
• Protect Professor Komian and the artifact during transfer out of 7 -6.

Military support from several Union members will be available. Jedi are expected to distribute troops over various tasks according to their own insights, and will be responsible for the soldiers placed under their command.

((OOC: This mission will group the Jedi in 2 teams of 2, which will run paralel parts of the mission that have impact on each other.

This mission will start around 127, when the Union members have pledged military assets to the effort. Feel free to sign up, a selection will be made if there are too many participants.

[Jedi Master Qun Treen]

"Padawan, time is of the essence. Select your equipment, and report to landing platform 4A in an hour. A shuttle will ferry you to the praetorian heavy cruiser currently in orbit around Unity. I will inform you of your task once you are en-route."

The shuttle ride up to the cruiser offered a nice view of both Unity and the small group of ships they were flying toward. It was a mottley group: a heavy cruiser bearing the colours of the Praetorian empire, a Sundarian sensor vessel and 2 veolian transport vessels.

As the shuttle docked with the heavy cruiser, the padawan were quickly brought to communications room. While they were walking through the ship's wide hallways the hum of the engines grew louder, and a rumble indicated the ship started to move.

They soon arrived in the communications room, where master Qun Treen's hologram was already waiting.

"Greetings again."

The jedi master looked at the assembled padawan.

"I had planned to go over the mission details. Unfortunately, other matters have come up that require my attention. So I'll keep this short.

This mission consists of two operations in parallel. One team will secure the dig site and the artifact on Erau. At the same time the other team will be in space, clearing a corridor for the transport vessels. I will contact you again in two hours to go over the mission details.

I propose you use this time to get to know each other, and know what each of you is capable of."

"I believe we haven't done a mission together yet," Trigiel said to Darones, "I am Fecta Trigiel, but please call me Trigiel. I am an excellent pilot, weapons- and mechanical engineer."

Then he said to everybody: "I like to join the fighter wings and secure the space. Therefore I also need some time to build in some magnetic boots."

As there was no time to do it in the temple, Trigiel brought along equipment so he could build in some magnetic boots. He could use his chest pockets to store the power supply and some necessary control parts.

((OOC: The Consensus have pledges 'as many fighter wings as they can spare', however, as we have discussed, you classify my carriers as capital ships and thus following the strike mission guide lines I cannot sent a carrier. I heard that the Praetorian military has tried to implement the Echani Hyperspace Signature Damping technology on the Shadow Sagittari Malachite, I am not sure if they succeeded."

"I'll head down on the first bird, coordinate ground forces and secure the artifact. I received word the Astrian Colonial Navy Second Fleet will provide limited backup should we need it, but they are otherwise occupied trying to hold off the Mandalorian Fleets.

I would like some air support or orbital artillery if you can spare any."

"Orbital artillery?!" Trigiel called out surprised, all his headflaps extended supporting his surprise, "we are going to secure an artifact from friendly territory, not assaulting a mandalorian base. The Mandalorians are doing their best enough to obliterate our worlds, we don't have to add to that with friendly fire."

"I meant precision strikes, not heavy bombardment." Nathan said not sure how Trigiel made that mistake. "We don't have any artillery on the ground by my knowledge."

He looked around to the other jedi. "Surely your world's ships can hit a painted ground target?"

[Ariana Danacia]

"A bomberwing or fighterwing should be able to hit a target you paint. The question is why would you want them to? We are not going to bomb Erau..."

[Nathan Miodrass Asillion]

"We're entering a warzone. We're likely to encounter enemy resistance. For all I know the enemy could be heavily entrenched. I want to go in prepared, air or artillery support will help minimize potential losses.

I also took the liberty of reading the intelligence report. There's still a Mandalorian corvette unaccounted for. I'd rather not go up against one of those with ground forces only."

"Entrenched enemies are of no concern to us, or they must be entrenched around the artefact, but in that case we should have received word from professor Komain.

I'm not sure what classification system Union intelligence uses, but I assume some variation of the well-known College System. Thus the corvette is around 100 to 200 meter. Unless there were mandalorian sith on board, one corvette will pose little threat to our cruisers and heavy cruiser.

The mission should be a simple: fly to allies, retrieve their artefact, escort it to other allies. We are entering friendly territory, the location of the artefact is known and we have received no intelligence of hostile activities on the ground near the artefact. If the Mandalorians are going to strike, it would probably either during transport to transport ship, or in space between hyperspace jumps.

One fighter wing can fly escort over ground in case of Mandalorians, the rest make sure the space is and stay secure. When the corvette shows up and we can miss a bomber team, we can dispatch a bomber team to wrap up the corvette. Other possibility is that one jedi engages the corvette and disable it in the fastest way possible. This is under the assumption that we cannot miss our cruisers.

I think 1 jedi on the ground, 2 in the air and 1 on stand-by sounds like a decent set-up to start with."

((OOC: I have spend my skill points from earlier missions on another level Telekinesis and a level Battle Meditation. I would like to use these in this mission since the mission has not really started yet.))

Ariana looks in the direction where the hologram of the Jedi master was projected before.

"Please guys, let's not waste our time with this discussion about intelligence systems... Guys, some things you should know about me, I am skilled in engineering, programming slicing and first aid and will assume command of the fleet using the force when necessary."

[Darones Rei]

"Lets not forget we can use the assets provide by Union members," Darones said, "If there is a corvette down there, I'm sure the people at The Eclipse can find it, and if not, perhaps our operatives on the ground can. And besides, unless there are Sith down there, lets not forget that we are Jedi, some entrenched soldiers shouldn't pose too much trouble."

"Whatever, I just want to be able to call in a strike if I need one without having to wait for ten minutes. Can you give me that?"

[Darones Rei]

"If Trigiel and myself are indeed taking command of a squadron of fighters, I see no reason why that should be a problem."

Previously on Unity...

Quartermaster Nishra gave Trigiel an eye-brow raised look. "I'm not handing out an E-11 sniper rifle for a retrieval mission."


A few minutes later, when Nathan visited her and explained what he wanted, she looked at the cyborg with the same eye-brow raised look. "You're the second one today. Listen, padawan, master Qun Treen has informed me of your mission, and I am not handing out thermal detonators or demilition charges. And I am most definitly not handing out military grade target painters on a retrieval and escort mission."


Another few minutes later, Ariana was met with the same look. "Right.", quartermaster Nishra said in an annoyed tone, "this is the last straw. You can have your two-weeks rations, but I'm going to have a serious talk with master Qun Treen."

"He really should make sure padawans don't get any crazy ideas about where they're going.", the last sentence wasn't intended for Ariana in particulair, but the way the quartermaster said it made Ariana feel as if she really should pay more attention.

The four padawan were standing on the communications room discussing their plans.

It looks like Trigiel and Darones are willing to clear the space corridor. But you two do have to make sure that you don't loose track of the big picture while you are flying around in your fighters...

This means Nathan and I will descend into the atmosphere with the Shadow Sagittari Malachite if possible. We will secure the artifact. Any other ideas?"

"I am able to provide air support within ten minutes if I'm in range of ten minutes. The tactical commander of the Shadow Sagittari Malachite can provide the big picture for us, so we can focus on the objectives ahead of us.
