[ Senate ] An attempt to reconcile

Lady-Senator Maria Latharion stood. She look around the senate to all it's members, a serious and slightly sad expression on her face.
"Chancellor, Senators, Representatives.
I wish to explain some of my previous actions. In light of the words from the Veolian Commonwealth and the Principality of Suma, I feel partially responsible for the current division within the Union.
When I spoke up about my discontent with the way the new security law was financed, I was trying to look out for the best interests of the Stellarian Triad Federation. Something I am sure all of you can understand.
Unfortunately the proposal I made during the discussion was somewhat misinterpreted. I never meant to insinuate the large members should pay for the benefits of the smaller members. Nor do I believe this should be the case. Because the discussion was cut short I realised this fact too late. I expected to be met halfway, which evidently was not the case. The alternatives that were provided where... less than satisfactory."
She paused a moment and let her gaze go over all senate members.
"I firmly believe in the Union, not just in what it stands for, but in it's ideals and the people that are part of it too. As does the vast majority of my people.
The STF does not have the capability to offer more than words to reconcile this matter, but I sincerely hope it is enough.
