"In the upcoming elections, you will see many promises being made. Do not just listen to words. Look at actions. In the past electoral period, I promised to promote the entry into the Union of minor worlds. Since then several new minor worlds have joined us, bringing great value and insights to the Union as a whole.

We will continue to push for the growth of the Union and when we are re-elected, we will work on expanding the number of member worlds, providing greater resources to our smaller members and make the Union a fantastic whole greater than the sum of its ever more numerous parts!

Amongst other measures, we will set up funds to help Minor Worlds participate in Union wide research projects, we will offer aid to grow Minor World economies into full Inner Worlds and we will continue to open up closer ties to the Jedi to get them more involved in the political process.

I humbly ask you all to continue to support me in my quest to get big fast!"

- The message was delivered with the Senators for Highmons and Heimgol standing to the left and right of the Chancellor, both immediately voicing their seconds for the Chancellors candidacy.

((OOC: If you wish to discuss the expansionist strategy of the Miomanian Colonists, the details of their plans for Minor worlds or ask clarifications and positions on various issues, this is where to do it :)))

Well Zalyass sure had some questions about Acehtoo's candidacy.. She slowly stood up from her chair, waiting for everyone to quiet down before she started her reply of Acehtoo's announcement.

"Dear chancellor. We of the Unified Empire of Azaryan Colonies have only recently joined the Union and therefor have not witnessed many of your actions. To get a clear view of the candidates, I would like to ask some questions. Firstly, we would like to know what exact actions you have taken as the chancellor to make it easier for new worlds to join the Union. We have missed out on all of those actions since, as I stated before, we have only recently joined. Do enlighten me which parts have improved, so we can thank you for it."

Zalyass found it hard to surpress her sarcastic undertone, but she managed to do so quite nicely. She had heard that a chancellor's words were binding during campaigns and she thought the current chancellor had made it way too easy for herself.

"We would also like to know what you are planning to do to keep an expanding Union stable. If one just grows and grows, one is inevitably bound to bump into something, as the UEAC has already painfully experienced. There are many worlds out there and not everyone is bound to be friendly. If you were re-elected as chancellor, what are you going to do to keep the newly acquired Union worlds safe, or the Union in its entirety for that matter?"

All that was left now was to wait for the chancellor's response. Acehtoo wasn't Zalyass' first pick to be completely honest, but she had to give Acehtoo a fair chance to convince her. Extra aid for the UEAC economy would be most welcome as well. Even though they were not faring too badly, there was still a lot to gain.

As Maria stepped forward she looked the Chancellor strait in the eyes.

"Chancellor, please forgive my bluntness, but I find the term 'make the Union a fantastic whole greater than the sum of its ever more numerous parts!' to be incredibly vague.
the Stellarian Triad Federation would like to know how you plan to achieve this and specify by what standards you judge this statement."

not easing up her gaze to the Chancellor she continued

"The STF is also curious about if you have any plans to promote colonization of new systems either in- or outside already occupied sectors."

Senator Danar Tassar also had a question for the current chancellor, and asked it right away to make it easy for the chancellor, so she could answer everything at once.

"Although we like the idea of a growing and prospering Union, we do miss some insight of thinking ahead. We might have missed some points as we joined only recently but the point that still nobody has asked of our... possible contribution, does create some questions." It was highly unusual for the senator to speak in such vague language. "Whether this is out of politeness or your cabinet deemed it unnecessary or an other reason, we no not know. But we do know that honestly asking to get a greater knowledge is never rude.

Therefore can you tell me what you have done to plan ahead?"

"A fair question from the Unified Empire of Azaryan Colonies.

At the start of the most recent electoral period, Minor Worlds did not yet exist. Through our efforts, with of course the aid and support of the other member worlds, we managed to implement laws that allow Minor Worlds to join, even if their economies are not big enough to bring in taxes.

If I am re-elected, I will implement measures to bring further economic aid to Minor Worlds, allowing them to grow beyond their current size to become able to fully participate in the Union economy. Furthermore, I plan to not only continue, but to further expand upon my policy of providing great financial assistance, currently 10.000 (:tax), to new Inner Worlds and subsidies on (:mtcf) to promote trade and help new Inner Worlds set up the infrastructure they need for future growth.

It is my belief that the best way to continue growing is to encourage trade with our neighbouring superpowers. Trade means mutual profit, profit which they would lose if a war were to break out. The Union already has a large amount of military fleets, more than enough for our protection. We need to befriend our neighbours, not prepare to go to war with them. Building military forces as Senator Bolv'ar suggests would only lead to an arms race, while my plan offers profits to be made instead.

Colonisation is an issue that is close to our heart, and we would like to encourage member worlds to colonize other systems through a system of subsidies. However, I do believe we need to be careful in choosing the location of any colonies so as not to risk conflict with our neighbours.

Hopefully my detailing of these plans also helps to alleviate some of the worries I sense with Senator Danar Tassar?"

She checked to see if she needed to make further clarification for him, and if there were any other questions.

“Dear chancellor Acehtoo,

I think that you missed a point that Senator Zalyass al-Chak'zya Azara-ya has rightfully made. It is not a question of drawing new members but keeping the Union in balance and order. With many different factions there will be many different voices. The Union has to be able to facilitate them and make sure we do not attract leeches or vultures.

The Union should do more to become a better whole. This cannot be done by only given financial support. We should know more about each other cultures and learn for them. I think the great discussion of life is a good start to find common ground so that later the found definition of life can be used for regulations.

So could you please tell us how you plan to keep balance and order between the many different factions and on how the Union can become fantastic and not just great?”

It was clear that senator Harek had already some ideas on what could be done, but he wanted to know the chancellor wants to do. She has to show her commitment and vision towards the future of the Union.

"It is my belief that through economic cooperation, cultural information and insight is exchanged, with the economic ties allowing nations of different stock to come together and see past one anothers differences, if not for their merit, then for the mutual profits that are to be made.

Through the democratic process, we can furthermore find mutual interests, with different idea's being exchanged in the senate and in various debates besides it. With common goals, cooperation should follow.

Does this clarify my position on the subject?"
