After all the delegations have entered the senate the state secrets act went into effect and as a result, all personnel except for the ministers, senators and representatives were removed from the senate and the roof darkened.

"Fellow senators,

A motion of Special Enforcement has been called, and seconded.

The motion calls for deployment of Jedi in the Stellaria Argentum system, and on the Remunzian homeworld to cut the supply lines of the Slave Rebellion forces and to neutralize the Slave Rebellion central command if at all possible. As per Union law, we will now vote upon this motion of Special Enforcement. This vote has the following options:"

"The following member worlds may vote:

Due to mandatory voluntary free days, the members of the subcommitte on Extra-Territorial Security and Warfare are at this moment unreachable. The Socialist Republic of Niom has activated procedure 22.3c of the Regulations on Governmental Mandatory Voluntary Free Days of the Socialist Republic of Niom to issue an immediate recall of all relevant civil servants and military officers to render a legally valid verdict on this matter. The Socialist Republic of Niom expects the subcommitte to be ready to convene on this most import matter in a mere three weeks."

The Astian Senator had a troubled look on his face, a look that had become more troubled as votes had come in.

He cleared his throat to gain some attention.

"Senators, we are at war. This is a war of ideology. The Union stands for peaceful coexistence, despite differences in culture. Where one culture sees certain practices of another as a mortal sin, we compromise in the name of peace. This has made us strong."

"In many ways the Jedi represent the Union. Not just as representatives, but as an embodiment of our ideals. I do not call into question the Jedi's strength. I call into question the wisdom behind deploying them as soldiers. The Jedi are not soldiers, they are keepers of the peace. Even in this time of war."

"Deploying Jedi like this compromises both the Jedi's and the Union's ideals. If we gain victory by compromising our ideals we may as well have lost this war. I feel greatly for the Remunzians, but I do not believe the Jedi should be sent on offensive deployments. We can achieve the same goal if we send in military forces, instead of Jedi."

"For this reason the Astrian Colonial Authority votes option B and we implore other worlds to do the same."

The chancellor's mood quickly darkened as a minister from her cabinet suddenly voted against deploying forces in the war.

Instead of saying something about it right here, she made a mental note to address the issue later.

"Your motivation, and your vote, surprises me Minister," the Sundarian Senator responded after the statement of the Astrian Minister.

"Not in the least because of the fact the Remunzians have already given their permission, which they would have withheld if they felt that the Jedi weren't suited for the job. Furthermore, am I to assume that the Astrian government is of the opinion that military are more capable than the Jedi? Surely one would prefer the presence of a few Jedi over a military force and fleet, especially given the delicate situation, the Remunzians dislikes against violence and their great and deep respect towards nature and animal life."

Kachiso noticed the mood change of the Chancellor, but he believed he was doing the right thing and he was ready to accept the consequences.

Looking to the Sundarian Senator, he started to speak again.

"Before making assumptions, Senator Obotanga, I suggest you actually listen to what people say. I clearly stated that I didn't doubt the Jedi's strength. I did not vote against the Special Enforcement because I feel the Jedi are incapable of completing the task. I did so because I believe that doing sending the Jedi on such a mission as the Union Senate will start us down a slippery slope that will eventually lead to the downfall of the Union. If we start sending Jedi to attack our enemies, it will only be a matter of time before they become a tool of Union conquest."

"If the Remunzians want the aid of the Jedi, I doubt they would need to do more then ask for it. I whole heartedly encourage them to do so. But I will not allow the Union or the Jedi Order to become corrupted for the sake of a single faction!"

The Astrian man took a deep breath to calm himself.

"As the Senator of the Astrian Colonial Authority, I have been granted the authority to vote on behalf of my faction. My government expects me to look out for the interests of my people and it is in the best interest of my people to be part of a Union that doesn't use the Jedi Order as a military tool. You are free to disagree with my vote all you like, Senator Obotanga. Just as I am free to make it."

At the last sentence, Kachiso looked to the Chancellor. Then he looked to the Senate.

"I wish for nothing more then to see the Remunzians freed from the Slave Rebelion. I just believe this is not the way to do it."
