Nehket Aeka - PC
"Fellow senators,
Since it has been nearly half a year since the previous extension of the Bozzy Spine, a certain amount of funding has been saved up again for the next investment in our collective infrastructure.
I wish to propose a different scheme of distribution of the
available for the following expansions. Instead of extending the Bozzy Spine by a single sector, we propose to deploy a large amount of quality 2 hyperspace lanes.
As it has been shown that our newest members have some trouble joining the Union economy I propose to order all Union-members on their taxable income per turn, and start with the smallest economies, working our way up to the strongest economies. If every member of the Union is connected to the Bozzy spine through a quality 2 hyperspace lane in their sector, the trading capacity of the Union effectively doubles!"
Senator Nehket Aeka glanced in the direction of Senator Bolv'ar of Excaria.
"However, these investments do not only strengthen the economic infrastructure of the Union, they will also help us deploy fleets and troops more efficiently, as all Union members will be reachable through a hyperspace lane route. This will strengthen our military position while at the same time increase the economy of the whole union.
As to the funding of this new scheme of distribution I can be simple: the current Bozzy Spine extensions are based on our level of hyperspace technology, so the upkeep costs of a new sector of Bozzy Spine are equal to the upkeep of five quality 2 hyperspace lanes. Incidentally, these five quality 2 lanes consume the same amount of
to deploy as one sector of Bozzy Spine. I see no reason the Union should not be able to provide the upkeep for these extensions, as it is doing for the Bozzy Spine now.
Thank you."

"I have always supported improvements to the infrastructure, something that Chancellor Acehtoo has once again lagged in. How can it be that such an important and relevant improvement, which is for the betterment of the entire Union, has to be brought forward by the Veolian Commonwealth, rather than being a plan from the Ministry of Commerce? It seems Chancellor Acehtoo has failed yet again in carrying out her duties!"
"Meritonia and Suma are in doubt as to this matter. While we feel the extension would be beneficial for the Unions Hyperspace industry, we worry that the cost will lie upon our nations while we will receive little benefit. We look forward to seeing more arguments for or against this proposal."
"Liberal Assencia and the Free Peoples of Wrarrbo are opposed to this idea. We believe the Bozzy Spine should be extended through sector 10 -3 and that the free market, rather than government, should handle connections of individual worlds. This way only the most efficient pathways get reinforced and we do not waste money on connecting insignificant worlds."
"Remunzia must consider the environmental impact of this before we can make a decision. We will have our scientists look into this matter."
"On behalf of the Confederacy of Excaria and the Holy Heimgolian Theocracy, I will say that the arguments presented by the Veolian Commonwealth are quite strong. This move will benefit our defence and our economy and we wholeheartedly support it. We don't support the outrageous and unfair statements by the Senator from Komès however."
"I was asked by the Mioman and Bisidn representatives to inform the Senate that the three of us support this move - it will be good for new members and general trade. We pray that the other members see the wisdom of this proposal."
"After careful deliberation, and taking into account the various pro's and con's of this proposal, the Socialist Republic of Niom has decided to confer with it's friends of the Interregnum Democracy of Scir.
We have deliberated long to run all the numbers and find that there are both cost and benefits to this proposal. After calculating the exact cost and building a forty-nine page spreadsheet, the calculation was finally made that a more extensive calculation would be beneficial.
By careful bilateral cooperation of four-hundred-and-twelve government officials, working round the clock from nine a.m. in the morning local time to four p.m. in the afternoon in that same time zone, with breaks at ten and two and a lunch break at midday, we finally established that this proposal is economically favourable.
We therefore collectively decided to support this proposal."

"After careful consideration, about the impact this would have on the market, the Praetorian Empire has decided to support this proposal. Since this will benefit the Union in the long run."
" The Sundarian Federation wholeheartedly supports this proposal, this will greatly improve the possibility of trade within the Union. "
"Many worlds have already let their opinions be known, but there does not appear to be extensive discussion. If there are no objections, I will open a vote for this."
