"Fellow senators,

During the elections I said that I wish to improve the situation of the chancellor and the ministers. We should re-envision these positions of great import and responsibility and make sure that their work is acknowledged, and that the weight of the responsibilities worlds and indivduals take on is appropriately balanced. Today, I want to propose to you the first step on this path.

I propose that we increase the duration of the electoral period from 20 (:turns) to 50 (:turns).

This will allow the cabinet some time to actually work on improving the Union without worrying about the next elections halfway into the period. Furthermore, right now, it seems that there is difficulty in finding senators willing to run for office. A longer electoral period will give a measure of stability to the Union, allowing potential candidates time to prepare.

Of course, such an amendment should only be enacted starting with the next period, to give everyone the chance to run for office in the next period, which will also be the first longer period.

I hope to put this matter to a vote within two weeks. If there are questions or doubts, I invite everyone to share them with the senate now."

"The Sundarian Federation will support this amendment of the Electoral proceedings and law." The Sundarian simply stated after which she sat back down to hear what others had to say, if anything at all.

"We support this proposal. The longer time will give more time to implement various projects. This way there is enough time to do it thoroughly. Furthermore the longer times gives greater stability of the Cabinet and the Union it selves."
