"Senators!" the Imperial Prince started once he had been properly announced by a servant. "As your glorious Chancellor, it is my great pleasure to announce that I shall run for re-election."

The prince looked around, seeming to expect a devastating amount of applause.

"In my next period as Chancellor, I shall continue to lay the power in the hands of the Senate, and I shall again open another four votes on important topics during the upcoming electoral period.

I plan to bring even more glory to the Union by improving the face of Unity further, as well as by honouring the esteemed Senators that aid in bringing it to glory. All who visit us may marvel at the accomplishments we have made.

With my aid, the Union's glory shall rise to ever increasing levels!"

The candidacy of Imperial Prince Odakim V of the Rising Suns of Deominius was seconded after he had concluded his speech by the Senators of Niom and Excaria.

"Chancellor",

The veolian senator starts after the lack of devastating applause.

"In your campaign announcement for the previous period you promised to be personally involved in improving the defences of the Union. These improvements, you promised, were to ensure us that our worlds and citizens are safe from future aggression by the Mandalorians and other factions that seek to harm us.

The senate has heard no report of your personal involvement in any actual improvements. You have only made a nod towards the Union's military with a single vote. Chancellor, given that your fleet, the Glorious Protectors of the Rising Suns, did not join battle during the Mandalorian Wars I can understand you confusion. As one of the many worlds that were actively engaged in the defence of the Union, let me clarify this for you:

Renaming a fleet is in no way an improvement of that fleet.

While it is true that you did personally oversee this vainglorious effort, no actual improvements to combat efficacy have been made -- the only change was an application of some paint and the official renaming of these fleets.

Can you elaborate on what actions you have taken, personally, to fulfil your promise to the Senate of improving the defences of the Union, if any?"

"Why Senator, I am surprised at your confusion of idea's. The new and glorious names of the fleets will inspire terror and fear into our enemies, causing them to flee rather than fight in wars.

I remind you of the cost of the war with the Mandalorians, both in lives and by impact on the economy! I have personally selected the possible new names for the Union fleets, guaranteeing that they are both terrifying and magnificent, for the greater glory of the Union!

These glorious new names will scare off any future invaders, thereby preventing the need for war altogether - surely you would agree that preventing a war by causing the enemy to flee in terror is the best use of our armed forces?

But you do not merely need my word for this - ever since the fleets have been renamed, not a single nation has dared to declare war on the Union, no new coalitions have been formed against the Union and our borders have been safe and secure.

I know your people are wise and insightful, so surely you see the wisdom of my plan."

The veolian senator remains silent after the chancellor's rebuttal.

After a few moments, one of her aides handed her a datapad showing a holonet advertisement: Rancor Stone!™: the Ultimate in Rancor Protection Gear..

It is a good thing that veolian nobility is well-trained for social manipulation, as it cost her considerable effort to supress a snigger at the chancellor's expense.

She hadn't expected her associate to act this quickly, but was glad they did. Of course, there is no paper trail, nor are there records of her involvement in this. This kind of campaign publicists is best kept at arms length. She hopes they didn't buy advertisement slots on UCN, that would be overdoing it.
