"The Union has gone too far this time! Its leaders are mismanaging the economy and the most recent law for 'tax reduction' is a ploy to make Union Members forget that they raised taxes before proposing this law.

This kind of deception will not fool our member worlds! If taxes are raised by 50 (:tax) and then lowered by 25 (:tax), that's not a tax reduction, that's a 25 (:tax) tax-raise, disguised as a benevolent mercy for electoral purposes.

We need to take wealth from the Union and return it to its members, so they may have the means to build strong armies and defend one another as allies, rather than being forced to their knees to beg the Union to in its mercy decide to defend them. We need to be friends, rather then mutual subjects of a leader sitting on a throne built from our gold.

Enough is enough! Liberate the markets! Expand our own armies! We shall be free!"

- The message was delivered with the Senators for Wrarrbo and Excaria standing to the left and right of the Chancellor, both immediately voicing their seconds for the candidacy.

((OOC: If you wish to discuss the reductionist military strategy of Liberal Assencia Colonists, the details of their plans for Minor worlds or ask clarifications and positions on various issues, this is where to do it :)))

"Senator Uriel,

Could you explain how you plan to 'take the wealth from the Union and return it to its members'? Because you put a lot of emphasis on this idea, but fail to mention where you plan to shrink the budget."

"What power or control should remain with the Union? It is clear that in your oppinion economy is not one of them. How is a starting economy capable of affording their own military?"

"I plan to cut subsidies and 'free money' that some nations claim at the expense of others. Let nations buy things for the price they are worth instead of subsidising purchases that might not have otherwise been made.

That means concretely I plan to cut the Mass Transit Cargo Freighter subsidy, remove the tax deductibility of technology research and end payments of upkeep for fleets and subsidies for fleet construction. This money will be used to lower taxes.

It is ridiculous that money is first sent to the Union, then redistributed and then spent by its members, when those members could instead spend money on their own. If they are not wealthy enough to purchase things and some nations want to promote others in buying those things, then those nations should offer their products for a lower price.

It is inconceivable that inefficient industries continue to profit by means of Union subsidies when they should long ago have lowered prices to match demand instead.

I believe the Union should be there only to facilitate projects that individual members cannot work out. The rest should be left to the open markets.

If a starting economy cannot afford their own military, the Union should not encourage them from taking that burden upon their shoulders by subsidising it in part - all this does is leave them with a military they cannot actually support. It would be much better to leave them their money to achieve economic growth so they can become big enough to be able to afford a military."

"Senator Uriel,

If you were elected for chancellor what would you spend the budget of your ministry on?"

"Very simple: I will focus on further lowering taxes. Actually lowering taxes. Not pretend lowering taxes by raising them by 50% and then lowering them a little bit as a peace offering. If you want less government, vote Senator Uriel for Chancellor!"

"what are your plans for the Union military when you would prefer the Union members to rely more on their own military?"

"We plan to lower the taxes as much as possible, though at the very least we should get Tax Bracket 1 back to 10% - if I cannot accomplish that, I will consider my Chancellorship to be a failure. I plan to do more than that though."

The Assencian Senator explained.

"As for the Union Military, for now it may serve a purpose, so though their expenses will get some critical review, I plan to maintain their current size. Once the Union members have more to spend and build their own armies, we can start dissolving superfluous Union Fleets, but that is a long term project which I do not expect to start on during the upcoming period."
