"Fellow senators,

As promised, I have waited for a week to see if there were any objections to the Special Goods Regulation act. As there were none, I have opened the vote.

The proposal is to enact the Special Goods Regulation Act, which is as follows:"

Special Goods Regulation Act
To protect the Union from external influences, and to maintain peace and order, some dangerous goods are regulated.
  1. The following goods are defined as Regulated goods: (:capital-ships), (:holonet-relays), (:hyperspace-nodes), (:mtcf), (:terraform), and any future special goods
  2. Regulated goods may not be bought or sold on the Open Market.
  3. Regulated goods may not be sold to factions that are not Union Members
    1. Exceptions to this clause can be made either by vote, or by unanimous approval of the Cabinet
  4. Regulated goods may not be bought from factions that are not Union Members

"The options are Yes, to support this act, or No to reject the proposal and leave our markets and infrastructure unprotected."

“The following member worlds may vote:

  • Astai Republic
  • Confederacy of Excaria
  • Federal Republic of Bisidn
  • Free Peoples of Wrarrbo
  • High Chiefdom of Skuldda
  • Hiocan Society
  • Inter-System Charter Company
  • Interregnum Democracy of Scir
  • IO Protocol

"The Astai Republic votes in favour of this act, so yes. Unregulated markets of dangerous goods such as warships should be kept in check!"

"The Teprogrenaian Consensus sees the necessity of regulating the special goods and votes 'YES'. We already did our uppermost best to prevent illegal capital ship trade and haven't sold a single ship to the open market.

We do wonder though why factions votes 'no' while there was plenty of time to react on the law proposal. It appears to us, the Consensus, that money is valued over safety."

"The preliminary results are in:
  • Yes - 12 votes
  • No - 6 votes
  • Abstains - 2 votes

As all 20 votes have been cast with 2 abstention, the absolute majority is 10 votes. The motion carries.

As the law makes no provision for completed votes before the deadline, I will leave the closing of the vote as an administrative matter, as the outcome can no longer change. The final results will be equal to the preliminary results."
