Hybrid characters

I have been thinking about fleshing out my Jedi character's family for a while now, for fluff, other casual roleplay options and perhaps even a future Jedi character.

I would love to have a few hybrid characters in the family, but I'm not sure how such characters would be handled technically.

Note that it's ment to add flavour to a character, whose parents are e.g. a Theelin and a Zabrak that got -very- lucky once or twice (or had medical help). So not on a large enough scale to have an impact on population or to justify a separate species page.

Human hybrids are mentioned on FWURG a few times and there is a hybrid character on the wiki (Uriel the Red). For the latter I guess the Species datafield was adapted after character creation. I could do that as well, but I'm still curious what other peoples thoughts on this are.

Hybrid characters would be handled the same as normal characters.

We actually have a technology for worlds called Xeno-obstetrics which makes this possible on a large enough scale to have an impact on population that justifies a separate species page—so there is no need to worry about the possibility that something seems off.

The easiest would be to handle it like with Senator Uriel, since he is a "true" hybrid. But Senator Salixa is of hybrid descent (Remunzian Mixed-breed Human) as well, and they even get a species page.


Note that a strong connection with the force is, in the FWURG setting, not a genetic trait. So it is not passed on when parents that are strong in the force have a child, nor is having a child strong in the force any indication that other children by the same couple are likely to be strong in the force. The Force Sensitive racial characeristic might seem to indicate otherwise, but this characteristic covers the whole species, not some genetic trait.

Thanks for the elaboration :)

On force connection as a non-genetic trait: I expected as much from this setting, so I wasn't planning on having the family be predisposed to have a strong connection to the force. They just might be fun characters to play and having them become a Jedi is a very good excuse to do so ^_^

There's no need to have them become a Jedi to play them; there's all kinds of fun roles and positions in Unity city available!

Especially since the whole Union political and bureaucratical apparatus is there.

But but... Jedi seem to be played most actively per turn :p

You are right of course, and I am keeping other options in mind while creating the characters, as an extra Jedi character is still many, many years away.

Yeah, you are right. There's too little non-jedi roleplay going on. Maybe we can change that ^_^
