Multiple colonies in one sector, how many supply fleets?

If you have more then one colony in a single sector, do you need to assign a different trade fleet to each of them or can you use a single trade fleet to supply all your colonies in that sector? (provided the trade fleet has enough capacity)

Currently the rules state only that a trade fleet must be assigned to a colony, not if that trade fleet can also support other colonies in the same sector.

I have no idea what you mean with "colony". We have three kinds of colonies, and they have different rules:

  • Space Habitat: Has no need for a trade fleet. This colony has special rules with regard to how upkeep gets there, and how the raw materials get back. Goods are always delivered in your home system.
  • Outpost: Has need for a trade fleet. The outpost has a special rule allowing you to use a trade fleet to transport goods both to and from the outpost, given that the trade fleet flies between the outpost and your home system.
  • Settlement: Works like a normal system with regards to a trade fleet.

So, to answer your question:

Yes, you must assign a different trade fleet to each of them.

Unless specifically stated, normal trade rules apply. Since normally trade fleets can only fly to a single destination, this remains true when delivering goods to a colony. The positive side is that the normal trade rules also mean that you can use the Holonet to deliver some stuff, or to have (:information)-based goods transported from your colonies to your home system ^_^

Does this answer your question?

I use the word "colony" as the group name for space habitats, outpost and settlement.

You have answered my question, but I am slightly confused now.

What does this line in the space habitat rules mean.
"Additionally, you need to supply your Space Habitat. For every sector travelled through en-route from your home system to your space habitat, you must invest 50 (:mtcf). Bonuses for hyperspace lanes do not apply."

Is this an extra production cost? Because I always thought it was a way to determine the minimum trade capacity a supply fleet needed. Especially with the later line: "All of this happens as if there was a trade going on between your home system and the Space Habitat."

Ah, now I understand why I did not understand your use of the word colony in that context: the Space Habitat works completely different from normal trading, and as such I did not understand how it would be a colony. You are right though, all three things are colonies ^_^

What's going on is that the Space Habitat page is very confusing. I have rewritten parts of the page to make it more clear. Hope this helps!

Now, to clear up the confusion: the 50 (:mtcf) per (:sector) sector travelled from your home system to your space habitat is indeed a construction cost. Instead of having an assigned trade fleet, the Space Habitat is built with a "built in" trade fleet. For example, if you are building a Space Habitat in the sector next to the sector of your home system, you would have a 100 (:mtcf) construction cost in addition to the normale costs because the route goes through two sectors.

(By the way, this is also the reason hyperspace lanes do not apply -- the (:mtcf) are not used for a normale trade fleet, but for a kind of space-themed Airbridge, making the space habitat effectively a part of your home system's economy.)

Let me know if you have further questions!

Ah yes.

This is much more clear, I'll have to adjust that in my turn report too.
