Collaboratively Researching Technologies and Prerequisites

Currently there is no mention about the prerequisites of technology research in the collaborative research rules. For me it is unclear what this means since the current inner workings of collaborative research would give you the impression that everybody needs the prerequisites since they need to do their own share on there own world. However in the previous implementation of cooperative research only one faction (the main research faction) needed to be able to fulfill the perquisites.
I believe these rules either need an update or simply a clarification.

That is an interesting point. Originally, only one party needed all the prerequisites. I agree that the current inner workings give the impression that everybody needs the prereqs.
I can see three options that make sense in the current interpretation:
If done this way, some developments are the actual sharing and combination of technological knowledge by different factions; instead of just continuining development with additional factions, each faction would get a direct benefit: being able to jump ahead in the technology tree without having all prerequisites.
I'm interested to hear what others think.

- The research can be completed only if every collaborator meets the prerequisites.
- The research can be completed as long as the combined technologies of the collaborators meet the prerequisites.
- The research can be completed as long as a single collaborator has all prerequisites. (This is how it worked earlier)

I'm in favour of the second option as well.
I am in favour of the second option as well. This makes most sense and is most fun I believe. I can explain in great detail my opinion on this, but I think that won't be necessary :).
If you collaborate you should share all the info, which results in option 2.
I like option 2 as well. It is fitting that the combined expertise is used to create something new.

It seems that the consensus is leaning towards option 2.
I shall clarify the rules on this in the weekend of 16 august, if no objections are made.
