I'd be interested in building a Turn Report Tool, that is, a tool which allows you to build a turn report by clicking on stuff. While it might not cover every eventuality, it would allow for the creation of a more consistent turn report, which would also allow some automatic checking to take place.
One disadvantage of this is that I need to have the output of the Tax and Trade tool (lest I'd have to rebuild the entire thing). It is sufficient for me to simply have the string which is currently used to pre-generate turn reports. Is there a way to access this information?

Not in a way that is clean, or easy. The tax tool is currently a not-so-nicely-written assembly of a lot of stuff, and separating part of the functionality is less than trivial. As said earlier, the tool needs to be refactored anyway, and I'll keep the option to use it as a a data source for other tooling in mind.
It occurs to me that if you only want the text, you can start work right now and simply have people copy+paste the output of the tax tool to your prototype? That way this isn't dependant upon my schedule of tax tool rewriting, and you can quickly gather feedback from people using the new tool ^_^
