Fedor's New Faction

I thought I would make a post detailing what ideas I had about my new faction, about what kind of faction I want to jam into the rules we are going to be creating. So, in a total braindump form of notes which may change at any time with no guarantees that I will stick to these details I outline the following:
Foo Republic:
Ostensibly a constitutional republic, never tell them otherwise, but really an oligarchy with the power in the hands of a few rich.
Senate is highest body of government, seats are based on publicly elected positions, but in effect largely hereditary.
Extremely free trade, capitalist society. Very little is arranged by the government, and more is arranged by private interests. No government safety net, free schooling, fire brigades. There is no price on polluting the environment, so outside the main areas occupied by rich people it is not very clean or environmentally friendly.
Strict military tradition, every high ranking politician is supposed to have served.
Class system with limited progression, highest class of *patricians*, who have most political power and serve as military commanders. Includes the immediate family of the senators, though not off-shoots, those devolve. Lineage traceable to earliest settlers.
low-nobel class of *equites* to provide buffer between *patricians* and serfs. These hold various economic positions, do tax farming. Also includes select plebians who got rich enough to buy into the class.
and then there's a lot of *newlyrich,non-nobled* *plebians*, who do not have enough wealth to be *equites*, but are free.
Slaves who are freed are technically freedmen and not *plebians* but no one really cares about that distinction
Large body of slaves, who in themselves have various classes ranging from educated slaves to house slaves to the lowest mining/farming slaves.
"There will be no 7th servile war"
After the planet was conquered entirely, new slaves kept getting harder to come by. Most now came in through selling themselves into slavery and not conquest. This made prices of slaves go up, slaves needed to die less to be profitable so their standard of living increased. This caused innovation to be needed, until finally space travel was invented.
Now new slaves are acquired by liberating other planets or when other settlements 'initiate trade conflicts'.
The economy is mostly based off of large scale mining (Or farming, depending which resource needed). So I am still deciding between Organics or Metals and maybe Exotic Matter.
