Hello and welcome to Brend & Chriz's Technological Emporium, <your name here>!

This thread is for those that have ideas for a technology, but lack the time, know-how, or inspiration to complete design it.

Post your ideas in this thread, and we will have a look at them. The rules are simple:
  1. Put a single idea per post. (Making more posts is not an issue)
  2. We work best from fluff. Give us a description of how you envision it working in the FWURG universe. If want, you can include a note about what aspect of the game you intend to affect.
  3. Don't post requests for 'I want this mechanic', we do not like those and will most likely ignore it.
  4. We will contact you if we have questions, or if we have something.

Do not use this thread for discussions. If you like something someone else posted, want to collaborate, or have comments on it make a new topic for it to discuss the idea.


We will edit your proposal to update its status. We will add a line ((Emporium Status: STATUS - REASON)) to your post. The following things commonly seen statuses:

Deferred: The technology proposal has been defered, and might be reevaluated later. Usually because something is blocking it at the moment.

Queued: We like the idea, but we have no time due to other things we're working on.

Working on it: We are working on the idea, it will be available soon. This status might last from a few hours to several months.

Discussing: The idea is being discussed on the forum, a link will be included.

Finished: We are done. We will try to provide relevant links to wiki pages, forum threads, etc.

With the Hiocan I was think of a Research Augmentation Zones upgrade tech, which can be prereq for further techs.
I think the same 500 (:tax) / 5 (:turn) can be used, with fluff text as to optimalize research facilities and beeing able to do better analyses.

Now comes the hard follow up part. I want a technologies that recycles raw materials. This will make products from excess raw materials. You can than only make the 2:1 products for a ration of 3:1.
Fluff tech along the lines of. Material recycling facilities. Using garbage and left over material are reused by using advance technologies.

In line of the Cradle techs, I have the following idea: A super computer tech. In order to move extreme large and heavy objects to hyperspace, you need extreme calculation capacity. I think such a super computer tech is a nice prerequisite for a cradle move tech. It probably will affect the hyperspace lanes in a way. (Maybe reduce upkeep, but increase (:power) consumption?)

I had this idea and I have no idea if it gives a sensible tech. But I would like to have atmospheric corvettes or at least big battle ships in the atmosphere. Think the helicarrier from the avengers.

I see these as a mobile and heavily armoured artillery platform. And after Brend his request how they would be used ill give a small story.

"The battle was hard and difficult and it was not looking good for the defenders when the artillery of the enemy began firing again. They had been unable to penetrate the air defence around the enemy artillery. They would be unable to hold if those artillery pieces were not gone. When the hopes were down they came on blazing trails of fire down form space. When the blazing trails had died down the defenders could see something almost impossible there were several of there corvettes hanging in the atmosphere. Then they opened fire there massive cannons suited to take down heavily armoured spaceships tore massive holes in the enemy lines. Enemy tanks and artillery melted while the anti air fire more suited to shooting down bombers and fighters were totally inadequate to harm these ships while they rained down fire on the enemy."

For the Djana research centre post I had to come up with a military technology. So maybe we can use that to make a real big technology our of it.

The ideas is to disrupt the enemy fleet communication. First you analyze the communication system with long range sensors and then develop a Advanced military virus that will disrupt/destroy that communication system.
The enemy fleet incoming force can be determined more accurately and due to bad communication their fleet efficiency goes down and this might decrease their fleet size by one.
