I this case I think some clarifications from our side are in order. When, initially, the republic of Niom didn't respond to our request to negotiate cheaper alternatives to transporting massive amounts of (:information), but the Veolian commonwealth and the Sundarian federation did. We went ahead and discussed possibilities with those parties. We have always had the Hepra System in mind as the destination for this transportation deal. This discussion made us see that, while still expensive, transportation is at least cheaper that the alternatives currently available.

At this point we received a message from Niom that they were (still) willing to go ahead with an exchange in specialized (:information). The terms offered in this proposal suggested they were up to date on our discussion with Veolia and Sundar. Because of this we viewed the lack of an alternative transportation proposal as consent to go ahead with the transportation deal with Veolia and Sundar. Only when we had all but agreed to this deal came an alternative proposal from Niom. We only noticed belatedly that Niom had suddenly switched to a private channel. So when we acted upon this new proposal we were much surprised by the reaction from Sundar.

The previous explanation should suffice to explain why the usual viewpoint of Niom on the privacy of trade deals, while still disputable, is mostly philosophical. Altering the course of ongoing (public) negotiations should be done by joining into the discussion, not by backdoor convincing of one of the involved parties. We understand that there has been some miscommunications that caused Niom to accidentally do this anyway. Should anyone still think that, considering these explanations, they have intentionally been treated unfairly they are urged to state that now, to prevent more troubles later. Should anyone think there are more misunderstandings that are not yet cleared up, now is also probably the best time to make to shine a clearer light on the situation.

With the clarifications out of the way, I think we can reopen the floor for the negotiations at hand. We would still like to exchange zone rights for two zones with Sundar. On our previous statements on this we would like to add that we may have to delay finishing the second zone until the (:turn) after our first is finished, depending on the remaining duration of these negotiations.

With Niom we would like to negotiate the exchange of 880 guides for 880 KnowDisks. We may or may not have to make deals with a third party to cover the transportation, so please make any proposals you have for this using this channel.

We think that a tree way deal at the moment only serves to over-complicate an already complicated situation. To Niom we would also like to point out that unless their previous deal on specialized information is strongly asymmetrical, they can use the goods they already have, in conjunction with some extra KnowDisks to convert all their new guides to regular (:information).
