Dear reader,

It has become clear to the Veolian Commonwealth that the Astrian Colonial Authority, then represented by Maria Latharion, does not wish to trade with the Veolian Commonwealth. While we do not understand the reason for this stance, we do have an appreciation for the clarity with which the message has been brought.

We base this conslusion upon the offer extended by Maria Latharion of 200 (:tax) for 150 (:electronics) and 150 (:weapons) (which means a unit price of 0.66 (:tax)) where she stated "As for our pricing. It is quite simple. To offer you (:electronics) and (:weapons) we would be cutting into our own supply, as such these goods have a high value to us."

This offers appears to have been little more than a disguise to make the proposal unattractive to the Veolian Commonwealth. This has become exceedingly clear now that the Praetorian Empire has been offered 250 (:weapons) at only 0.35 (:tax) per (:weapons). Clearly, cutting into your own supplies is no problem when the Praetorian Empire wishes to acquire these same (:weapons).

Because of this new insight, and due to the fact that our own need for (:utilities) has grown, we hereby serve you notice that we cancel our exchange of 75 Utilities for 75 Electronics. In accordance with our agreement, we shall stop shipments in (:turn) 177.

Yours sincerely,
Serrah

Dear miss Serrah,

Though your conclusion is incorrect, I can understand why you came to it. Though I am unsure as to what deal with the Praetorian Empire you are refering. By my knowledge any trade between the Praetorian Empire and the Astrian Colonial Authority stopped a while ago. However it is possible a private party has made a trade deal with them.

That being said, to show you we are not unwilling to trade with the Veolian Commonwealth, I offer you the 150 (:electronics) and 150 (:weapons) for 100 (:tax) starting (:turn) 184 if this would convince you not to cancel our current exchange of 75 (:electronics) for 75 (:utilities).

With kind regards,
Lord-Senator Kachiso Doshima

Dear lord-senator Kachiso Doshima,

I see. In that case I suggest you investigate the actions of the Bluethread Financial group, since they appear to plan on exporting more than 50% of the weapons production of your world without clearing this with your government. If the Bluethread Financial group is capable of doing so without impunity, I will have to advice my mistress to minimize trade with the ACA because of concerns about an impeding coup by yet another group within the ACA.

I appreciate your show of willingness even though it is too late in (:turn) 184. Based on your world's previous rejection we have already arranged for (:electronics) from other sources. Because of this we would actually make 45 (:tax) per (:turn) more if we would cancel this trade. Ironically, the (:utilities) will be making us 0.6 (:tax) per (:utilities) if we do not sell them.

I offer a counter-proposal: If you agree to adjust our trade of "75 (:electronics) for 75 (:utilities)" to "45 (:tax) for 75 (:utilities)" (under the same 2 (:turns) cancellation policy) we will accept your offer of receiving 150 (:electronics) and 150 (:weapons) for 100 (:tax) starting in (:turn) 184. Conditional on the (:electronics) & (:weapons) agreement lasting at least until (:turn) 190 and afterwards continuing on indefinitely with a 5 (:turns) cancellation period.

As there is little time, I am sorry to tell you that we can not negotiate on this proposal, your world can either agree or we go our separate ways.

Yours sincerely,
Serrah

((OOC: I feel that this would be a good place to take a short moment to explain my reasoning here: I would have accepted your offer if the Veolians weren't such a paranoid and power hungry culture.

The Veolians are afraid that if they agree to the offer their reputation will get dragged into an investigation about another coup in the ACA. After all, if any single Veolian house could actually trade with more than 50% of the Veolian Commonwealths weapons or other military gear, they would immediately turn this on their fellow houses by cutting them off from means of defence and wiping them from the face of the planet.

Furthermore the Veolians are convinced that the offer for 150 (:weapons) and 150 (:electronics) will only hold for a single turn, after which the ACA immediately cancels -- after all, the ACA clearly did not want to trade... So why would they change their opinion all of a sudden?))

Dear Miss Serrah,

It seems the concept of a free market economy is foreign to you. I leave it to you, if you wish, to find out such things. In the mean time you are free to speculate about the situation in the ACA.

As for your offer, I'm afraid we must decline. Your proposal is simply not cost effective for us. I regret our trade relations have come to an end for now.

Please tell your mistress, that she can contact me should the Veolian Commonwealth need the Astrian Colonial Authority's services.

With kind regards,
Lord-Senator Kachiso Doshima

((OOC: I can understand paranoia. But 0,6 (:tax) / (:utilities) is a bit too expensive in the Astrians opinion. ;)))

Dear lord-senator Kachiso Doshima,

Please allow me to ask for a clarification, as I want to make sure that I understand you correctly so there is no miscommunication: is it correct that you feel that I do not understand what a free market economy is, and is it also true that you do not wish for me to contact you anymore but that my mistress should contact you directly?

Yours sincerely,
Serrah

Dear Miss Serrah,

You seem to be under the impression that the ACA exerts it's political power to influence deals, allowed by our laws, private organizations make on their own. Something opposite from what a free market economy does. It is a known fact the ACA maintains a free market economy.

Now I am unaware of what kind of education you have enjoyed and as such I made a conclusion. If I have, unintentionally, insulted you by this. I apologise for that.

As for the matter regarding contact. By your own claim, you are a slave. There for you, by definition, have no power or influence of your own what so ever. Based on that I have no assurance that any agreement between us will be honoured by the Veolian Commonwealth. As your mistress is the Veolian Senator, she does have that assurance. I am sure you can understand my reasoning here.

After all being a representative would require a level of equality you simply do not have as a slave. For this reason I request to be contacted by her should the Veolians wish to make an agreement with the ACA instead of you.

With kind regards,
Lord-Senator Kachiso Doshima

((OOC: Basically he's saying Serrah is to low in rank to make deals with for an entire faction.))
