"Fellow Ministers,

Since this cabinet is doing its job maintaining the stability in the Union without putting a singular focus I believe we should invest our contingency budgets to lower the upkeep that we pay on the bozzy spine and use this tax to lower tax bracket one. This gives the Union members some additional budget to invest in their military forces or economic growth as they see fit. I believe we should respect their sovereignty on this matter.

Exploratory research has shown that it is possible to optimize the current infrastructure around the bozzy spine. By integrating the hyperspace lanes in our home sectors into the bozzy spine we can save upkeep cost.

Our current estimates show that this union scale special project requires two phases. Both phases can be implemented separately.

In the first phase we recalibrate all the current hyperspace lanes costing a total of 25 000 (:tax)

This should save us the necessary amount to lower tax bracket 1 with 25 (:tax)

for each Union member.

In the second phase we plan to upgrade the infrastructure to increase the efficiency.
The second phase will cost us about 10 000 (:tax)

"Before we can continue with such a large scale project, I would like to know a little more about the timetable of the project. Do your estimates include a duration?

I have some other plans as well that will tie up a part of the budget, so having an estimate of when we can expect to see this project finished would be important."

Could you, and other ministers enlighten me on your plans with the Union contingency budgets. We can at least try to align our plans."

"I plan to reserve a part for the improvement of Unity, be this through terraformation, extensions to Unity City or improved planetary defences."

"I believe this is something that benefits the entire Union. After the recent tax raise from 10 to 15 %, this is reasonable. We will support this effort."

This means we are currently at 15 000 / 25 000 required (:tax)

if I am correct. We have not had any response from the Minister of Defence and Foreign Affairs yet. Nonetheless if one of the two remaining ministries is willing to commit 5000 (:tax)

as well we would have 20 000 (:tax)

to the Union? This would be a very generous gesture, and would certainly weight heavily during the next elections..."

"Regardless, we should make sure that these plans are public knowledge before the elections. That way the next, if our preferred candidate does not win, the opposition has less room to manoeuvre and use the funds for things other than tax reductions."
