Tally of Jedi Mission rewards

To keep everything going smoothly, it is sometimes necessary to take stock of the current going-ons. Me and RemcoSwenker did this for the Jedi rewards. Below you will find our results.

First off: We have added a Rewards_wiki* field to the story data model. When creating a mission report, don't forget to add the rewards! (Go and copy it from the Basic Training page or something.)

First, we gathered all rewards for missions current and past, and listed them with the number of participating Jedi:

MissionRewards# Participants
Basic Training1 skill point2
Investigate 1341-8010J RSP2 skill points3
Basic Training II1 skill point5
Infiltrate the Red TroopSpecial Manoeuvre, Mind attribute point4
Request for Assistance...Physical attribute point, [1 skill point]3
A call for help...Mental attribute, [1 skill point]5
Basic Training III1 skill point3
Escort to the Slave Rebellion1 skill point. [special manoeuvre]3
Retrieval of Teachings1 skill point, [1 skill point]2
Bring a Twi'lek ex-slave home2
Lightsaber ChampionshipCombat style8

(rewards between [ and ] are conditional)

We determined the available reward categories. Most are self-explanatory: Skill Point, Attribute Point, Special Manoeuvre, Combat Style, Force Power, Equipment. We consider specialized equipment to be a reward category, as this entails special weapons with bonusses.

From this data and the categories, we derive the following overview. For each category, the number of missions is tallied, and finally the head count is determined by tallying every reward per jedi:

Reward CategoryMission CountHead Count
Skill point721
Attribute point312
Special Manoeuvre14
Combat Style18
Force Power00
Equipment00

We conclude the following: Skill points are boss: everyone and then some gives away skill points. Closely followed by attribute points, with Special Manoeuvres a distant third.

We propose that storytellers offer up more Force Power points as rewards, as some people have already gone up a Force Level without receiving a single new force power.

We think that Equipment should not be given out as a normal reward, however, Jedi should actively look for it.

(Off-topic: Holy shit! Tables in the forum -- don't use them too much, they're terrible: you need to put all bbcodes on a single line, or get a metric ton of empty lines in front of your table.)

Peoples of the Forum! Go rabble about this!

Yes, lets all rally and go rebel against the story tellers, they are the 1% with all the stuff, the economical crisis is being held active by these guys! Wait I might have missed the point :P

On a more serious note: Yes, story tellers might want to think about giving away more 'special' rewards. Because there are a lot of combat manoeuvres coming, and it would be a shame if we could never use them.

as a thought, how about some extra skills when you get 'promoted'? So when you go from padawan to knight, you get, lets say, 1 combat style, 1 manoeuvre and 1 force power.

Maybe we can even say when you get a force level, you get a force power. Then the force powers do not have to be given as mission rewards.

I'd rather get more diverse rewards than "Maybe we can even say when you get a force level, you get a force power. Then the force powers do not have to be given as mission rewards.", as this basically means you only get around 6 force powers...

I don't like coupling anything with the Force Level up immediately -- though of course, you have to go through a mission to go from Padawan to Knight, which could offer rewards (you see what I did there?).

I have heard some indications that Dragonmaster352 wanted to start a story with a Force Power reward. Currently I'm in too many stories at the same time, but my next story will also have a Force Power reward. Limited spaces available, offer not valid where prohibited by law.

Then maybe I should go with a combat maneuver for the next one.

I have just one point. I do not want to make things more complicated. But I have to make the distinction between what I OOC want as player (That mission rewards is cool and I want it) and the IC choice of my character. So there should not be always the same reward and maybe the storytellers should stimulate that now always the same groups are formed.

We have little in the way of pending missions. Don't get me wrong, I like the loads of active missions -- but it seems that there are only as many missions as there is demand, which is logical. However, this also means that the players will just have to accept whatever kind of reward the storytellers offers up, as there is no real choice to make on the type of reward: you either go on the missions, or you don't go. There is no alternative mission.

To remedy this, and allow players a little more control over where their character develops itself, might it be an idea to offer rewards in the form of a choice? I envision somehting like "The reward for this mission is an attribute point or a force power. An additional skill point might be available depending on the succes and execution of the mission."

What do you think?

I like the idea of being able to choose between mission rewards as it allows you to tweak what you want a bit more.
And allow you to focus or diversify a bit more depending on your preference.

I like the idea of giving choices to players! So yay for that! I will use it in my next story.

Yes, choices would be nice. That would also prevent that a player has to select missions based on reward instead of kind of mission
