Due to an upgrade of my internet connection to fiber-optic cable, the Fwurg server will become unreachable at some undetermined point on August 3rd. This could be at 0900 in the morning, or it could be at 2200 in the evening, unfortunately the ISP is unable to provide a clearer window.
Once it is offline, it will stay offline until the mechanic enables the fiber-optic access point and hooks up the new modem. This will happen on August 4th at some point during the morning. It might be that Brend and I have to reconfigure the hostname link if the ISP changes my IP, but that shouldn't take too long regardless.
This upgrade will speed up the internet connection considerably, and the current estimate is about 10 times as fast. This means data can be transferred much quicker, and hopefully will also translate in a slightly faster website.
In any case, we apologize for the inconvenience and strive to keep the down time as short as possible.
((OOC: Brend, could you update the status.fwurg.net page on the 3rd (or tell me how to do it?)))

yeey, possible faster fwurg ^^, I can survive 2 days downtime for that :)
I'm guessing that the actual speed increase to the FWURG site is going to be marginal due to the slowest factor being the processing pipeline. Then again, large files like images will be much faster and paralel traffic will be better of, so there will be an overall boost in speed.
((OOC: @Mercury: I will change it. The current mechanism for updating the messages there is not accesible to anyone but me. I will see about changing the message pushing mechanism if we actually need it ^_^))

I have no problems at all with the speed :).
The only time I have issues with the speed is when I'm loading up one or multiple systems in the tax tool, or opening and editing a lot of planets when processing my turn report.
I have added a notice to http://status.fwurg.net
It might be that the system will remain unavailable a little longer when the uplink is established again. In this case, I will add another notification to the status site to inform people of the issue.

I was promised my internet would be down today, but so far it hasn't. I don't know what that means yet...
Might be that they are working on the whole area at once, and simply haven't made it to upgrading your street yet. It could also be that their letter is overly cautious and they planned to do on/off switching somewhere on the 3th and 4th.
