Turn 173 / 2014 September 28: Expiration on open rewards and rules changes:
In order to encourage players to make story pages, an expiration date is placed on how long a player can claim rewards from a story. At the same time, when a rules change is applied, players no longer have indefinite time to think if they like an retroactive change. (notification and discussion)
Meta
- There is an expiration term on rewards and change notifications of 3 months. After this period the issue or reward period is considered closed.
Turn 177 / 2014 October 25: Sensor Vessels and Settlements survey cost reduction
Scanning for a settlement has a change is cost per turn after a certain time of scanning. This creates some weird interactions with the Sensor Vessels technology, which decrease the time and thus the cost of scanning. It was unclear if the cheap scanning time or the expensive scanning time is reduced by the sensor vessels. This is now corrected by defining the base scanning time of settlements and stating that Sensor Vessels only reduce the base scanning time.(discussion)
Surveying
- Surveying costs time and money. The amount of time it takes to find a site depends on the type of site you are surveying for and the number of other points of interest in the sector. The table below lists the base survey time for each of the three types of site in an empty sector.
The base survey time is further increased by the amount of Realspace already in use in the sector.
Sensor Vessels
- In case the duration reduction is used on the surveying of a Settlement, the basic surveying duration will be reduced. This means that the cost of the survey for the settlement will be reduced by 1500 .
Settlements
- The base survey duration as used in the surveying rules is equal to the sum of the basic and all necessary extended surveying.
Turn 201 / 2015 April 11: Colonization in starting sectors
To protect the starting areas for new players from filling up with outposts and settlements, it is now forbidden to use the starting areas for these kinds of expanding.(discussion)
Surveying
- It is not allowed to survey in empty starting sectors. You are free to survey in any other sector, though surveying in a sector where some other faction has sovereignty can be blocked by them as usual..
Turn 208 / 2015 May 25:Control machine force power
A new force power was requested to support the idea of a 'drone master' Jedi. Therefore the new force power 'Control Machine' has been created for the Jedi to be able to control a droid or machine. The use of the Mystical DEM crystal is required to keep the power and the machine linked with the force(discussion)
Control Machine
- Some Jedi have the ability to bond with a machine, using their connection with the force to subtly control the machine and eventually assuming direct control over the machine. ● Power: Through meditation, you can connect to a complex machine provided that machine has a DEM-Crystal. You can attune to a single machine.
● Rank 1: You can give basic commands such as movement, carrying, or pressing elevator buttons to the machine with which you are connected by means of the Force. This power works only on short range (approximately ten meters).
●● Rank 2: The speed and accuracy of your control over the machine increases to a point where it can aid you in combat. For purposes of combat, you and the machine are counted as a single entity, using your stats (and not the machine's stats). This allows you to have more options for Direct Combat Actions and Advantage Actions, for example. This power works only on personal range (no more than one bodylength away from you).
●●● Rank 3: The jedi can meditate to connect to the machine on such a level that it seems as if you are inhabiting the machine itself. You can use the machine's sensors to perceive the world, and you use the machine's frame to manipulate the world. When using this force power, you control the machine — instead of — your own body, effectively rendering your own body inactive. To activate the power you and the machine must be within personal range (no more than one bodylength away from you). The power can be maintained over any distance.NotesThe machine can be any kind of machine, as long as it is reasonably complex. It can be a droid, or a space ship, or any other kind of machine that exhibits complex behaviour. Furthermore, the Jedi must have some kind of bond with the machine. Simply plugging a DEM crystal into a machine does not make it attunable.
Attuning to a machine costs a lot of time. Under normal circumstances this can only be done outside of missions.
Note that DEM crytals are rare enough to warrant being a mission reward.
Turn 214 / 2015 Jul 07: New technologies for asteroid construction
Asteroids were pretty useless until now. A new technology is designed which allows factions to construct more different type of zones on asteroids. It is now possible to build support zones on asteroids, with production penalty. (discussion)

Asteroids have great potential for all kinds of infrastructure, but many difficulties must be overcome before the loosely floating rocks can be used to support any safe construction. By building special platforms between the asteroids and bridges to connect them, a stable foundation can be created for the construction of buildings.
This technology allows for theAstroid infrastructure platforms upgrade of zones on asteroid belts, enabling construction of support zones at the cost of production output.

This special project allows for the construction of support zones on asteroid belt. The special project applies to a cluster of 3 zones in the asteroid belt at a time.
Zones enhanced with Asteroid infrastructure platforms widen the restriction on zone types, allowing the construction of Support Zones. Asteroid infrastructure platforms give a -20 production penalty.
The knowledge required is unlocked through research of the Multi-segment platform stabilization technology.

Turn 221 / 2015 Aug 29:Jedi Specialisation
No matter how much a padawan, a normal guy or other being in the galaxy would train, they would universally be beaten by a Jedi Master on every untrained area. And when the master spend 1 skill on the trained points, he would be the best in those skills as well. As we found it not fun when there is not a real specialisation option other than 'force power specialisation' we decided to overhaul the skills, experience costs and check ratings of the Jedi.(notification and discussion)
Skills
- Skills are now divided into basic skills and specialist skills. Basic skills are the old 'Trained only: no' skills, while specialist skills are the old 'Trained only: yes' skills. So, from now on skills that can only be used of you have training are called specialist skills.
- Flight Skill is now a specialised skill.
- Zero-G Mobility Skill is not a specialised skill.
Jedi
- If you use a skill while you have no training in it, you get only half your Force Level on the check (round down): the force can help you reach your goal, but not tell you what to do. For example, when moving around stealthily a Force level 3 Jedi with no dots in Stealth, would calculate (5 = 1 Force Level + 4 Fitness + 0 Stealth), whereas a Force level 2 Jedi with 2 dots in Stealth would have (6 = 2 Force Level + 2 Fitness + 2 Stealth).
Jedi Experience
- We have changed the experience costs of skills and attributes and updated the amount of starting skills.

Some people (Salia) are more flexible than others. To represent this unusual flexibility in the body (of Salia), a new skill is introduced: Contortionist. Players (Salia) can now use this specialist skill to do squeeze into tiny spaces, escape cuffs and all other kinds of ideas thought of by the player (Salia).(notification and discussion)
Contortionist skill
- The Contortionist skill is added to the game to represent unusual flexibility. ContortionistType: specialist
The Jedi is a capable contortionist, being able to squeeze into tiny spaces and bend with unnatural flexibility
This skill covers specialist training in extreme physical flexibility. It can be used to squeeze into tiny spaces and narrow paths, though never through holes that are smaller than the Jedi's head (presuming a humanoid species).
Contortionist can likewise be used to escape cuffs, bonds and manacles as well as for contorting the body into unnatural positions, including dislocations of limbs.
