I think we should have something more outside the Union, to help us do things outside of our own 'little' patch of space.

Therefore, I propose to add some worlds to interact with, both in and outside of superpowers. See the proposal on the map!.

Elmer and I have tried for roughly 3 worlds in superpowers (skipping the Echani as they are the masters of not-thereness). We have created a set of Major and a set of Minor independents.

The idea is that a major independent world is capable of supporting an economy on galactic scale (see how none of them are directly near a superpower), while minor independent worlds can't. The independent worlds remain independant because a) they have the option of being self-sufficient, and b) this allows superpowers to trade more easily, by using the independant world as a middle-man. (Hence the minor indeps near superpower borders.)

This is just a first proposal, and we would like as much opinions about them as possible. Later on we will start to work on some details (a short blurb on culture, relations with superpowers, and a name), before we do a second round of opinions, and finally they'll go onto the wiki so we can start using them as NPCs.

I like the idea. I take it the worlds associated with superpowers have a galactic economy?

This will also provide a possible incentive for making (:hyperspace-nodes) at least if trade with these worlds would be possible. and it will also create a reason for the new Special goods restriction law as trade outside the Union becomes more likely.

good job

Yes. As are the major independent worlds.

This looks great! If you could move Major 5 from 16 0 to 18 -1, that would be awesome though *has plans for a long time from now for the northern region*

I could, but I'd like to have a little more than "has plans for a long time from now for the northern region". We had the idea that it would be nice if we had two or three (we opted for two) major worlds next to each other band together. That way they formed a kind of 'non-superpower' superpower. A bit like a loose alliance of city-states, that still cobble together a unified army if need be.

So we put them next to each other. Just smearing them out seems a bit boring to be honest; and if "a long time from now" is multiple years, I'd rather have something there right now for the more north-ward players to potentially interact with. Then again, your ideas might be great fun, so maybe we should move it anyway.

Point is: can we compromise and keep both the 2-major-worlds pair and your ideas for the north on one page?

I moved Major-6 over Major-5 to have the two of them in (:hex) 17 0 and 18 -1.

As everyone is either silent or approves, we will move to the second phase of adding these worlds: naming and 'culturing'.

I invite everyone to grab a world, and give it a name, type of government and some fluff. Doesn't matter if you attach it to a specific world, or just post some, we can always use it somewhere.

CH-2
Name: Unedau Colonies

This system, consisting of numerous asteroid belts rich in rare elements and metals, was colonized just after the formation of the Core Hegemony. It is an independent state that heavily relies on trade with other nearby worlds, both of the Core Hegemony and others, to supply its demanding citizens with the luxuries they desire.

The Unedau Colonies feature a council of leaders, with the leader of each colony democratically chosen by the population in that colony. The fact that only humans are allowed to vote is easily forgotten, as the vast majority of the population is human.

Major-5 and -6
Names: Liberal Carrack and Oridin Democracy

These two worlds have the fortunate situation to complement each other needs, creating a small spot of welfare in an otherwise quiet spot in space. Both their systems consist of several planets with atmospheres and in goldilocks. They try to keep political impact at a minimum and prefer to let the market go its own way to serve the needs of their people.

There welfare did come with a price though. Before the times of chaos pirates and smugglers were attracted to these two worlds causing troubles from time to time. Some great pirate lords originated from that part of the universe. Nowadays both Carrack and Oridin maintain fleets to protect their trade routes from any unwanted guests.

Minor-4
Name: United Moons of Tunuarana

The five inhabited moons of this system all orbit the gas giant Tunuarana. Tales from ancient times tell of lush grasslands and seas on the surfaces of the moons. But right now, the moons are unforgiving wastelands, dotted with small domed cities. The majority of the population of the moons is employed in metalworking, smithing and other primitive industries.

The United Moon Council, the governmental body of the United Moons of Tunuarana, consists of three representatives per moon, and is led by a democratically elected duke. Next to the government, the moons are home to a large number of religions, with new religions spawning every so often while old ones get forgotten. Most religions are nothing but scams, but once in a while, someone returns from the deep desert with wise words on their lips, and visions of the future.

The minor world has repeatedly rejected offers to join the Union, citing religious reasons as the reason.

Minor-5
Name: Demai Anocracy

This system, on the fringe of Hutt territory, has not been claimed by the Hutt because they find it a convenient to have a neutral world nearby. Demai's neutrality has allowed it to flourish with trade and smuggling.

Demai is home to multiple crime syndicates, slaver's guilds and mercenary companies, each claiming part of the habitable equator region of the icy world for themselves. Above ground this world is sparsely populated. However, underground, this world features a dense network of natural caves, the largest of which host cities or bases for one shady organisation or the other.

In an uncommonly cooperative effort, an asteroid ring featuring metallic asteroids has been outfitted with energy projects, tractor beams and missile pods. Control of this weapons array does not belong to any single group, but is shared between the largest three groups by way of possession of a crypto-key device: whomever can acquire all three keys can command the defence grid.

To make things easier for myself, I have upgraded the proposal on the map to feature green circles around all worlds that have description!

Incidentally, this also makes it easier for you all ^_^

It looks good, but I do not see any Echani systems.
And maybe there could be a mini power in the North as it looks quite empty.

There's no Echani worlds because they're secretive like you've never seen before. In fact, they are so secretive that we can easily assume that we don't need any data on them because we won't find out where their worlds are ;)

Stuiter wrote:And maybe there could be a mini power in the North as it looks quite empty.

I would like to refer you to a previous post in this thread by Mercury about the North. And we still have a mini power there: Elmer wrote it.

Major-4
Name: Dominion of Prooda Besad

The Dominion of Prooda Besad is a dictatorship, with Prooda the Hutt as ruler. The actual system is known as Yuna Enjar and features a medium planet with large oceans and an extensive river network. The larger part of the world's land mass is covered with hilly plains.

Dotting the landscape, small villages and cities can be found tending the lands, herds and few mines on the surface. The largest of these cities is Enjar City. Enjar city is a circular metropolis of 1.3 billion with the palaces of Prooda at its centre. The city supports Prooda Besad's military fleet, and is the main hub for cargo in the whole 19 -4 sector.

Several outposts and small settlements in (:hex) 19 -4 fall under the protection of the Dominion of Prooda Besad, making the sector a relatively calm area in the otherwise dangerous rim. New settlements are allowed to form, and the Dominion offers them a two-year relieve on payment of protection money, to allow them to grow and prosper. Settlements that can not or do not pay the yearly tax are dealt with by complete eradication.

Prooda himself has a strong mind for business. He prefers to leave the details of military security and piracy control to his elite cadre of bounty hunters. As a matter of pride he will command the fleet himself when in conflict with other Hutt.

Minor-3
Name: Jiao Ascendency

The Jiao system features a red warf several asteroid belts a few uninhabited worlds a chthonian and a large ocean planet in the goldilocks zone. The large planet, aptly named Jiao'o, is orbited by several large space stations and orbital docks, all featuring impressive anti-ship weaponry. In-system craft shuttle construction materials from the chthonian world to Jiao'o.

The Jiao Ascendency is a elective monarchy where the ruling monarch is elected from among the candidates of the ruling families. 96% of the population of the Jiao Ascendency is Chiss. The Jiao Ascendency is highly militaristic and a little xenophobic. They usually do not allow any craft to land on Jiao'o without very stringent searches for contraband.

Because of this policy, little is known about the cities, constructions and other details of Jiao'o.

I realised I basically wrote up a whole world for a Jedi Mission. I think others have done so as well. Since it is easier for other STs and players to find them if they are documented somewhere on the wiki, I decided to add it here at least, so it will eventually find its way onto the wiki:

Minor-A (17 -6)
Name: Rymea

The planet Rymea has an active core, resulting in frequent earthquakes and a multitude of hot wells, sulphur pits and lava lakes on the surface. The planet's major settlement is Port Rymea, a city estimated at 57 thousand inhabitants. Major imports are foodstuffs and fuel, major exports are industrial ores, sulphur and industrial salt. Goods transportation over several longer routes by hovertrain and bantha caravan. Due to its position in the sector, Port Rymea is a common stop on the Union-Hutt Families route.

Port Rymea is a mostly lawless place, though it is policed by the Crimson Janissaries, a mercenary company of about 2000 strong, they only enforce order when and where it suits them. The ranks of the Crimson Janissaries count several bounty hunters and other specialists, care is adviced when dealing with them.

Though classified as Type I, the atmosphere of Rymea can be hazardous in regions with strong volcanic activity or extensive pools of sulphur or salt. Air purification and processing equipment is highly recommended for longer stays.

Major-3
Name: Dalchi of the Many Voices

The Dalchi system consists of seven asteroid belts, each with multiple moons, in orbit around a orange giant. Dalchi of the Many Voices is a representative democracy where each inhabited asteroid has a single vote and each moon has three. The full assembly of representatives is called the Many Voices. The Dalchi laws do not state how the representative are chosen except that they must have lived on the asteroid or moon for seven years. Most asteroids and moons have adopted a majority vote selection to determine their representative.

For interaction with the outside world, a body of seven representatives is elected from the Many Voices to negotiate on behalf of the whole of Dalchi.

In analogy with their governing body, Dalchi of the Many Voices maintains an army created from smaller and larger military vessels from the different asteroids and moons. However, instead of concentrating their military might in a single location, each asteroid or moon supports a few vessels based on their capability. This also makes the naming of the vessels unique, as each vessel's name somehow incorporates the name of the moon or asteroid they hail from, down to every single fighter.

The main produce of Dalchi is metals, and metals-related products.

Major-2
Name: Federation of Arkosian States

Arkos is a system of unparalleled natural resources. From space their three medium-sized terrestrial planets are green-blue marbles layered with playful white stripes of cloud. Their gas giant is a overflows with easily harvestable pockets of exotic gasses, and their star is a calm yellow main sequence.

On these worlds, the hardworking Arkosian people till the land, tend to their herds and work the mines. They dutifully pay taxes to their lords, who in turn pay taxes to their lieges. Each states in the federation of Arkosian States is headed by a King (regardless of gender, the position is called King). Each king is free to decree law as he or she sees fit, and in accordance with the federation's laws as decided by the 13 Kings in council.

At first glance, the technlogy level of the Arkosian people seems to low for them to participate in the galactic economy. However, this is only due to their cultureal aesthetics. Many technological appliances are hidden away, or otherwise modified to fit their aesthetic of a simple rural life. With most of the space craft and the federal armed forces answering to the Kings, most of the population of Arkos has yet to fly into space.

HF-3
Name: Iron City of Jica Abbar

The Iron City is named after it's major construction technique. Due to the frequent earthquakes on Abbar Major, and the consequent natural abundance of metals, the city's foundations and many of its buildings are drawn up with large amounts of iron and durasteel.

The Jica Abbar system features two planets of note: Abbar Major, Abbar Minor and Fira. Abbar Major is a large planet with an active core. The majority of the population of the system lives here in the Iron City or one of the many other cities on the world. Abbar Minor is the moon in orbit around Abbar Major, though it is better described as a small planet. This world is a source of water and organics for Abbar Major, and access to the world is carefully guarded by the Hutt.

Fira is a world of ice. It's farther orbit makes it a naturally frozen world. Numerous mines are run on this world, with a large force of slaves to drive the mining industry forward. The Hutt maintain a stranglehold on the supply routes to Fira, to ensure the hard work of their slaves.

Minor-2
Name: Shattered Moon of Goni

No one knows why the moon is shattered, but it is clear that it is. This small moon in orbit around Goni is broken into three pieces. The three pieces still orbit around Goni, atmosphere-less, plant-less and devoid of life. Around these pieces orbits the largest flotilla of half-broken vessels and space stations known in the galaxy. Despite being built from vessels, the flotilla is not capable of moving to another system

The Council of Elders and Engineers (colloquially known as the 'see') is in charge on the flotilla, where the ship they serve on is held in high regard. The world falls outside of Mandalorian claims only because the system is already devoid of anything claimable, and the people living on the Flotilla do not have much to give.

Major-1
Name: United Aran

This technologically advanced world maintains their independence by carefully balancing its support from the Mandalorian Fleets and the Core Hegemony. United Aran is an oligarchy, with only those holding land participating in government. From amongst the senators, two Ephors are elected for life, both equal in power. The Ephor stands above the senate and acts in its stead in times of haste or uproar. United Aran spends roughly half of it's governmental income on the military, where each senator holds rank as a a general.

All children born of the third generation on Aran are considered citizens, and are allowed to own property on Aran. The Aran people consider only the status of citizen important, allowing for great equality between races and genders. Due to political influence the Core Hegemony roughly half of the senate is human, and the strong focus on the military and the vicinity of the Mandalorian has created a political atmosphere where military might and cunning is highly esteemed.

Muhahaha, this is the final indepenedent world. Next step is adding them to to world through the Wiki and and update to the official map!

Minor-7
Name: Dual suns of Mani Renwa'is

The Dual suns of Mani Renwa'is is a small world with white beaches, blue oceans, waving palm trees and mysterious continents filled with jungle and a handful of volcano's. It is known that several hidden valleys hide the tombs of ancient beings that once ruled these worlds. Stories speak of haunted lakes and rivers that carry the souls of the dead into these tombs.

Of course, such stories are nonsens. Mani Renwa'is is a well-appointed vacation destination, with pleasure cruises from the Core Hegemony regularly docking at the orbital casino's to unload the wealthy and sometimes famous passengers on a world filled with games, drink and other enjoyments. All talk about ancient ruins disappears with the rink, and rumours of an intergallactic sect of assassins is soon forgotten after another hit of the newest designer drug.
