[ Veolian Embassy ] Konev's lunch with empress Saret Neferti <private>
"Hmm yes some more experience might do him some good." Gergory said pondering over the empress her words.
"Run for chancellor you say?" he seemed to mull the idea over in his head. "Hmm I can see that working quite well."
After a few more moments an idea seamed to crystallise in his head. "Yes if you can send my people a report of your plan I will talk it over with President Trotsnik and her cabinet. You have my support and I will see if my president agrees so you have the support of Darya."

"Of course, I shall have our more detailed plans sent to you."
The empress took another sip.
"It seems my drink is nearly empty", she said to no one in particular. The twi'lek woman that escorted the daryan delegation quickly took care of that issue.
With a pensive look, the empress asked: "Senator, what is the Daryan opinion on slaves?"
((OOC: Is this enough of a election programme, or do you want a more detailed plan in a different post?))

Konev took a deep breath and said. "That is quite simple your imperial majesty in all territory of the Unified Republic of Darya slavery is forbidden. As according to the Daryan constitution no person may be property of an other person. How the exact definition is stated do not know." he seemed to deflate a bit at the end.
"What I do know is that the penalty for this is very high with minimum penalties of four years in prison per case."
He looked at the empress for a moment before saying. "In case you are wondering why we still wish to do business with you. You should thank duke Iaat Vyapar he has shown that your culture is adapting and stepping away from this practice. We hope that by our example of not having slaves that your people will eventually stop slavery all together."
((OOC: yea that's fine))

"There are indeed those that argue against slavery. Duke Iaat Vyapar is indeed one of those voices, and one that is clearly heard. However, slavery has been in our history for as long as we can remember, and even if I would wish to remove the practice from the commonwealth this will not be possible without significant cultural change."
The empress paused for a moment.
"Would you have me incarcerated if I were to bring my lovely property", the empress glanced towards the twi'lek woman, " to your world should I visit it?"

Konev looked thoughtful for a moment before he answered. "Well because you are the empress of the Veolian Commonwealth you would benefit from diplomatic immunity. So there would be very little the the police could do."
He paused for a moment. "However it would probably be a political indecent as it would lead my government to ask why her imperial majesty would so disregard our laws about personal freedom."
"When her imperial majesty plans to visit our beautiful nation. We would kindly request you either not take your property with you or free her an have her work for you as an employee with the status personal servant of her imperial majesty." he still seemed a bit uncomfortable with the term property but it seemed that the twi'lek woman was not, so the feeling abated a little.

The empress seemed a little disappointed by senator Konev's reply.
"We hope that you can come to understand our culture beforehand. If not, I am afraid that I would not be able to stay long, should I visit your world. Let us put such thoughts aside for later."
The empress took a sip of her drink.
"I have heard that the Daryan shipyards are impressive to behold. Have you visited them personally, senator?"

"Indeed lets cross that bridge when we get there." Konev agreed.
"Yes I have your imperial majesty my wife and I were there when they named the vessel that holds my name the DRN Gregory Konev. It is a very impressive sight large spider web like structures covering ships in various states of construction. With various machines and workers everywhere." It was very clear that this was something close to the heart of the elderly senator.
"And I will be returning there in several months for the naming of the flagship of the Daryan Republic Navy. when the vessel will be known as the DRN Star of Darya."

"Congratulations senator.", the empress replied when Konev told her about his namesake.
"The Veolian Commonwealth is also looking to increase the scale of it's military, and we are currently evaluating our options. It appears there is only a small number of factions with spacedocks capable of constructing capital ships.", the empress took another sip, "Do you have any idea when the Daryan docks might finish work for the Daryan Republic Navy?"

Konev smiled in appreciation to the congratulations form the empress.
"My apologies I don't know that from the top of my head." he responded to the empress question. "If someone could get my driver to bring me my agenda I can look it up for you."
"But I think that the Daryan shipyards can be used to build a war fleet for the defence of your people."

Neither the empress nor any other people visible seemed to get senator Konev's hint about his agenda.
"We would be glad if we could count on the Daryan shipyards to strengthen our navy. At the moment it seems our options are rather limited.", the empress replied.
She took another sip.
"Senator, am I correct in presuming that your driver is unaware of your request?", she suddenly asked, as if she was forgetting something important.

"That is unfortunate and a shame that so little people seem uninterested in defending there own against pirates or other scum."
"So it seems would your imperial majesty mind sending someone to inform him?" he asked of her.

She turned to the twi'lek, "Shanora, will you please inform the senator's driver of his wishes?"
She turned back to the Daryan senator as the twi'lek left.
"My apologies senator, I just assumed that your servants would be aware of your request. It's one of those things... I forgot that you have no ability to inform your servants of your wishes. Isn't it a terrible nuisance to inform your servants of everything by voice? I have but to think of something, and my servants will be aware of it."
((OOC: Let the driver walk in whenever you feel like it ^_^))

"I must say I have never experienced it as a problem. But our language Vyzova is allot faster than basic making it less of a problem." he responded.
Konev thought for a moment before he continued. "I think it should be compared to flying. Like earlier when we took the elevator to get to the top floor of your embassy. In most Daryan buildings we would just have an atrium and people could just fly there. So it would be comparable with me asking. Your imperial majesty don't you find it a inconvenience being unable to fly? while stairs and elevators work perfectly fine for you."
After Konevs explanation a mudry male wearing a simple back suit, looking like a stereotypical driver, entered. Near the entrance of the room he preformed a deep poklon before moving over to the Konevs. There he exchanged some quick words in Vyzova and the driver handed over a datapad to the senator. Then a few more words between the Konevs and the driver before he left again once again doing a poklon near the door to all assembled in the room.
"I'm afraid mr Kedzierski does not speak basic very well so I was asked to pass on his complements to your imperial majesties hospitality for him and our security detachment." Yaroslava said while Gregory scrolled trough the datapad.
After a few moments Gregory looked up from his datapad. "Your imperial majesty the Sokar Driveyards should be capable of delivering 100 to 120
per
starting in
85." he stated reading form the device.

"Please inform Mr. Kedzierski that it is my pleasure."
"I will have the information on the Driveyards passed along to the lady Nehket. Though I am currently unable to promise you that we will contract your space docks, I am sure that lady Nehket will appreciate the option of contracting the Sokar Driveyards."

After the big topics were done the Konevs had some small talk with the empress about special locations on Darya and some other moderately interesting topics.
((OOC: I don't have anything further to discuss))

The empress seemed happy to talk about such small things, but even so, she had a busy schedule, and an hour after the lunch she subtle steered the conversation toward an end.
The Konevs were escorted outside by the twi'lek woman, who waited until the car was fetched, and the Konev's drove away before she went inside again.
((OOC: Same here. This was nice, I like roleplaying ^_^))
