"Try to let the senate know you first. Get the sympathies of the senators, get to know them and make friends.

Search for other Senators who already have the trust of the Senate and which you can believe in. Support them, and try to become a minister. Then, next election period, when you have proven yourself and you have had the time to align more factions with your, the ACA, points of view, you can run for chancellor."

"Show you can trust others to be chancellor, then others will start to trust you to be chancellor as well."

"I'm slightly surprised by your lack of ambition senator. Why haven't you offered to run for chancellor in my place?"

"I've given you several chances to offer yourself for it, yet you ignored them. I believe your standing with the senate is high enough as well. So why?

"At this moment, within the Consensus we are busy, many discussions consume a lot of my time. Therefore I don't have the time for chancellor duties as well. We of the Consensus also don't have real points to focus on for the coming election period. At this moment. Becoming chancellor will therefore be a waste to time and effort. Let somebody else spend their time and taxes, and once they have failed and the Senate is displeased, we can step forward. However up to this point, it is pointless in doing so."

"I even missed the vote for lowering the taxes. So how am I expected to accomplish other important issues in time?"

"You could hire an assistant. I'm sure you have someone qualified for those things. After all, delegating tasks is part of being a leader."

"Alas, that is not how the Consensus works.

Asside this, the Veolian Commonwealth is actually doing a fine job as being a chancellor. So far they are keeping the senate peacefully, there are no idiotic law proposals, and they are very punctual. There is little reason to run ourselves, if they are doing just as fine."

"I wouldn't call consolidating their own wealth and power as doing a fine job as chancellor. They use underhanded methods to run down the competition. And create laws to benefit their own world, under the pretence every Union member stands to gain. Worst of all, the senate actually believes that pretence, as you clearly prove."

"But every Union member gains. The numbers say so, the calculation say so, and the Union members say so.

However, this actually creates an opening for you and your faction to run for Chancellor: Make a list of all the methods the Commonwealth used, and the Laws they created. Prove how they ran down competitions, and prove how the senate is worse of. Then show how it is done better. Come with solid proof and concrete numbers."

"When you show how the senate is being deceived, and how we of the senate can be better of, you can gain the allies and trust you need to become chancellor."

"Unfortunately that is easier said than done. Also I doubt cracking down on one world, especially one as influential as the Veolians, will shine a very good light on my people."

"There is a high chance that plan will backfire and isolate the ACA even more."

"Though if a repeat of the previous elections is made, we'll probably do that ourselves anyway."

"That depends on how you bring it. If you bring it as being the boogyman and everything is wrong, then yes. If you bring it as a way to show how the senate can be improved, then the senators are able to be persuaded.

The main thing to keep in mind here is to bring it in a positive way to the senate. Don't go all pointing fingers and say: 'this is bad.' Show with proof how the current situation is less then ideal, and come with actual proposals for improvements on which the senate can immediately vote.

We of the Consensus are willing to help you of the ACA in how to present the issues. When you have the numbers and proposals, we can proof read them, discretely check opinions with other senators and come with points of improvement for you in order to present a coherent and trustworthy case."

"It is also a good idea to show vision and planning. Don't wait till the last moment with protesting, but start now with polling under the other senators. Come to know their opinions. Also try to convince others that at least a second candidate for Chancellor is required."

"This way you show how you are able to look forward, and how you proactive try to prevent unwanted situations instead of only complaining in the senate how bad everything is."

"Still I'm not sure there is enough time to accomplish all that before the upcoming elections. But I can at the very least try to encourage a few capable senators to run for chancellor."

"Indeed.

An other option which might be worth considering is to be patient. Allow yourself the time to prepare yourself, don't ruin your potential leeway immediately, if you can spend the next election period in preparing for becoming chancellor. Allow your political opponents this victory in order to come back next period."

"Still, don't wait with acting, but don't rush straight forward. Spend time to manoeuvre yourself in a beneficial position."

[Lord-Senator Kachiso Doshima]

"Never thought I'd miss my days in ONI." Kachiso said, more to himself than to Tassar. "I will take your advice and will contact you when I have some results."

He stood up and offer his hand again. "It was a pleasure to meet you Senator Tassar. Now if you'll excuse me, I have other business to take care of."
