Mercury - Storyteller
The Union fleets continued to chase the Mandalorians into Sector 5 -5, ever closer towards Mandalorian territory. There the enemy fleets would have the advantage of being able to use their planetary defence systems and general infrastructure to support their fleets, while the Union ships would be dependent on long supply lines.
With such advantages awaiting further ahead, the Union commanders were surprised to see the Mandalorian fleets seemingly halting smack in the middle of Sector 5 -5, sensors revealing they were concentrating in an area with few stars and less planets. It did not make sense, but it was an opportunity to rain down some terror that the Union could not afford to miss.
Jumping in with massive force, the Union fleets found themselves smack in the middle of a battle. Echani ships phasing into view, firing at Mandalorian vessels and disappearing again.
The strategy was effective, though the Mandalorians were not entirely defenceless and gave it a fierce battle - at the least they seemed to be outnumbering the Echani.
This was a chance: the Union fleets could engage the Mandalorians and with the Echani destroy most of their fleets. There would be losses though, and the damage would likely be unpredictable, but the destruction of the Mandalorian thread might be worth it.
However, it was also a different chance: the Union fleets could stay out of the fight and let the Echani and Mandalorians finish one another off. In that case, the Mandalorians would still be crippled, and it could possibly be finished off by the Union after the battle. But the Echani would also suffer heavy losses. The outcome would be that neither the Mandalorian Fleets, nor the Echani would be a thread to the Union for quite some time. It would also spare the Union Fleets.
The choice would need to be made quickly ((OOC: By monday next week))

Alexander Giambastiani (mask of Senator Danar Tassar) - PC
- Location: Unity
The flagship of the Union fleets tried to open communications with the Echani: "This is Alexander Giambastiani to the Echani: I have received orders to disengage. With the Mandalorians retreating back to their own territory, the Union considers the war to be finished. We considers your effort of protecting the Union completed, and we thank you for your timely assistance.
Alexander Giambastiani out."
And with that, the Union fleets start to disengage. It was time to go home.
