"An interesting way to approach your economy I must say.

We believe that the economical sector requires some guidance. Not all Consults are aware of everything, so it would be a waste if one company would start to produce the same products as an other company, and creating a unnecessary surplus.

Although I must say, we don't really understand why entrepreneurs would go for making more money. Why do people need to be protected from companies? After all, companies are there for the support of the people's wishes. Money itself is quite useless.

By creating a focus of products to trade, we make it easier for other Union members to find us as trading partners, and it is easier for us to trade. We spread our products to multiple Union members, and also get products from different trading partners, this way, when one partner falls away, we still get our products from another partner, preventing the collapse of our entire economy. And by spreading our products, to different trading partners, we also minimise the impact if a single partner falls away."

"If money is so useless, why does every intelligent species use it?

Having more money means you can have more and better things that make life easier or more pleasant. A company is created with one goal: to make money. They do that by selling something people want or need. To make people aware of the fact they sell something they want or need, they use marketing. Often that marketing creates the need or want of people. But without proper supervision companies can promise things that aren't true and that leads to people having paid for something that doesn't do what it says.

In other cases the quality of a product can even endanger people. Lets say a manufacturer of seatbelts for hovercars can drastically cut their production cost by using substandard parts. Parts that would break in a crash.

These are all things that can be prevented by laws. It's a government's duty to protect their citizens, so they make and uphold these laws.

You have yet to completely answer my question though. If a single trade partner falls away, you have a decrease in demand. I want to know what happens when there is no more demand."

"Money is a tool, not a goal on itself. It is meant for people to help them trade. Therefore, companies are there for the people to earn money, not the other way around. So people and companies don't want money, they want certain kinds of products like food or holonet. Companies are there to fulfil these desire of the people. In order to better fulfil these desires, companies grow and change, and they use money for these changes. Nobody wants just money. You cannot eat money, you cannot live in it, you can't even keep yourself warm with money. Walk into the Harenam Aecor with all the money you want and you will find that it is useless.

Aside this, it is easy to make money. Acquire some minerals, weld it into a nice form and convince people that you accept that type of shaped mineral as currency.

There is no such thing as no demand. When there is no more demand for our products, then something different is happening. A demand does not suddenly disappear. So when there is no demand, we need to solve the actual problem. For example, this can be a Union wide boycott, or we are unable to trade due to war occupation. "

"Walk into the what? Sorry I'm not familiar enough with Teprogrenaian culture to understand that proverb. Or that location if it isn't a proverb.

Why would you weld something into a specific form? That's just impractical and extremely inefficient. Forging or casting use far less energy and are more precise. I could even understand if you machined physical currency, but welding?

Besides I was speaking hypothetically. I know demand for something won't disappear just like that. But what if it would? What would you do then?"

"The Harenam Aecor is one of the largest landmarks of Dhiahamara. It is a dessert with no food or water.

Are credits not welded? My mistake. But the way how its made is of no importance. We tried to make a point in how pointless is to strive for more money.

We of the Political Consult don't deal with hypothetical economical situations, for that, we have the Economical Consult."

"Shadow of War, it has been a pleasure speaking with you and I wish we could have continued this conversation. However, my duties elsewhere start to call and besides, I don't want to take up all your time either. There a lot of other people who cannot wait to see you as well." Sylvia said with a smile.

((OOC: I think we better just close this thread. It was fun but it seems to be finished actually :). And this will make room in your head for more recent threads as well.))
