Consensus struck by largest after-monsoon storm

Dhiahamara -
Last week a late monsoon storm hit Dhiahamara unexpectedly. The storm, with a reported average of 1500 lightning strikes per second each square kilometre, had a size 10 million square kilometres on its largest. Meteorologists have named the storm Inultam, or unavenged.

After a week of slowly growing into a mild after-monsoon storm, Inultam suddenly grew to a full-blown global storm and travelled from the city Anavar via the southern hemisphere to the city Hegara where the storm finally as quickly faded away as it appeared.

Because of the sudden appearance of the storm, most shields where not ready for the full extend of the storm, allowing Inultam to cause havoc among the planet. Power stations, communication and relay stations and infrastructure has been shut down, covering the planet again in a short-time isolation. Repairs took days and the damage is estimated to be in the trillions.

The death-toll is currently set on 12 000 Teprogrenaians, but estimated is that this number will rise when the full extend of the storm is evaluated.

Although all the trade outside Dhiahamara continued as normal, it is yet unclear what the effect of the short isolation has on the interstellar trade. Inultam is the largest after-monsoon storm which hit Dhiahamara in the last millennium.

Silver Forests of Remunzia sends official "mate-seeker" to Mirda

Mirda -
Three healthy Remunzians of breeding age have travelled to Mirda with the express purpose of finding a mate to procreate with.

The trip, sponsored by the Remunzian government, was undertaken after extensive psychological and physical tests of volunteers. Though it was not mentioned in the press release, many suspect they volunteered to travel to Mirda in a politically motivated effort to end slavery in the Veolian Commonwealth.

The three remunzians have set up dating profiles and have been given budgets to advertise for potential mates while on the Veolian homeworld.

Image
Aliania

Age: 21 years
Species: Remunzian
Gender: Female

Aliania is a student of herbology with a passion for weaving and colorful, excessively large explosion clouds.

She is hoping to find a creative Veolian husband who will be able to keep her safe while they explore the galaxy together, before settling on a new world somewhere and living off the land with their future children.

Aliana has a unique gene mutation, SL-173, which besides giving her freckles also gives her an exceptionally high sense of smell.

Image
Evinar

Age: 31 years
Species: Remunzian
Gender: Male

Evinar is a self-declared fighter for justice and is an accomplished debater with a long carreer in local politics. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty, both in politics and with his hobby exploring caves and studying geology.

He is hoping to find a highly fertile Veolian woman who can give him many douzens of children and has expressed that he is especially intrigued by the Veolian ability to split of certain parts of their mind and doing more than task at a time.

Evinar has especially good genes giving him a high physical strength and intelligence, which while individually not unique, combined in one individual give him a special edge.

Image
Illora-Veleanor

Age: 19 years
Species: Remunzian
Gender: Female

Known to her friends as "pixie", Illora-Veleanor is fresh out of school and looking to start a new life in a different culture. She enjoys studying foreign customs and experiencing life as lived in other lands. Her hobbies include flying with personal levitation devices and getting into and out of trouble.

Illora-Veleanor is looking to integrate into Veolian society and is hoping for a partner of either gender to introduce her to all the Veolian customs and to eventually become a wife.

Illora-Veleanor's lineage traces back to a Theelin noble house, making her technically a noblewoman.

Slavery vote fiercely debated among Astrians

Stellaria
- It quickly became the most debated topic in the Astrian Colonial Authority when the vote on slavery opened and opinions are all over the place.

All throughout the ACA Astrians are voicing their opinions. Many officials have been unreachable for comment, likely because they are to busy weighing their options and polls.

Reasons of the ACA citizens for their opinions are as varied as the opinions themselves. Some believe the prices of the options is to high, others claim no price is to high if it means an end to slavery in the Union. There are those who believe one of the options is reasonable while other say multiple options have merit.

An opinion a surprising amount of Astrians share is the opinion that the Veolians should be allowed to keep their form of slavery. Mostly these people view Veolian slavery as humane and either have grown tired of the debate or believe the Union should not interfere with the culture of it's members.

Many Astrians are following the vote closely and are anxiously awaiting the ACA's vote and the votes result.

Large protests on Mirda escalate into riots

Mirda - This afternoon, several planned pro-slavery protests devolved into brawls with anti-slavery groups over the current senate vote. The protests were planned as peaceful protests to draw attention to the millenia-long traditions of the Veolian Commonwealth, which led to several lobbying groups planning their own anti-slavery protests to draw attention to their side of the debate as well.

When the protesters in Eluttar encountered each other in front of the duchal palace, the local house militia was not able to keep the groups from attacking each other. Eyewitnesses say that the house militia withdrew at the first sign of conflict. Several sources confirmed that the anti-slavery protesters came armed with clubs, and were lead by several Twi'lek hoverbike gangs. Aerial footage suggests that after the first charge, the house militia withdrew and simply barricaded the area around the palace to prevent rioters from entering the palace grounds.

After this first protest escalated, social media carried a record of these events to concurrent protests in other mega-cities. Within the hour protests in Sastragara, Jala Khaira, and Aveire turned into riots as well. Officials say that no evidence has been confirmed that this was an organized attempt to escalate.

Miraculously, only 5274 were injured, 785 wounded, and 12 died during the riots.

Imperial Prince Odakim V wins chancellorship

Unity -
Running unopposed, Imperial Prince Odakim V of the New Communist Imperium of the Rising Suns of Deominius has become Chancellor of the Union.

The new Chancellor promised to lay more power in the hands of the senate by starting more votes, though it is as of yet unclear how exactly this will take shape.

The new Chancellors unopposed run is especially surprising as he has stated being a clear proponent of slavery, a hotly debated issue in the Union.

"Evinar is awesome!": Remunzian mate-seeker popularity soars

Mirda - Te recent presence of senator Salixa of the Silver Forests of Remunzia has created an unforeseen increase in popularity of the three so called mate-seekers. Several unofficial fan-clubs have sprung into existence, with holosites and tribute pages gathering over 45 likes per second during the first few hours of their publication. Evinar, the politician and accomplished debater, currently ranks 6th most popular male public figure according to social media analyst Cahaka Hānā, while Aliania ranks 9th most popular female public figure.

Additionally, House Khaw has released a press statement that the house appreciates the respect that the Silver Forests of Remunzia show to the courts by sending their senator to speak on behalf of the plaintiffs: "It is a sign of respect to the courts that the senator for the Silver Forests of Remunzia has taken the time to travel to Mirda, to appear before the County Court of Jala Khaira during the discovery phase of the case.". Analysts say that this is a strong indication that the leadership of House Khaw intends not to exercise their rights to intervene in the case.

House Shebi starts advertisement campaign to find mates for Remunzian mate-seekers!

Mirda - In an unforeseen twist, House Shebi has started an advertisement campaign praising the adventorous spirit of the Remunzian mate-seekers. The advertisements also urge those matching the respective mate-seekers' profiles to try and contact the mate-seekers, or failing to get their attention, to get in touch with the team behind the media campaign so they render assistance.

Detractors of House Shebi state that they only do this to get media attention, but a spokesperson for the noble house said that this is untrue: "Several members of House Shebi have were moved by the story of these three lonely souls, and simply wanted to do their part in helping them find happiness."

It is unclear whether the mate-seekers themselves were contacted as well, but this media attention will certainly increase their selection options for a potential mate.

Anti-discrimination riots in Negixa

Dhiahamara -
Image
Again riots have broken out in one of the great cities on Dhiahamara. In light of the slavery lawsuit on Mirda, a large group of humans, twi'lek, veolians and other races wanted to protest again against the heavy discrimination against non-Teprogrenaians on the planet. At a certain point the protest grew with unrest to a riot. Rocks and debris has been thrown to the security forces in Negixa, who replies with water canons and tear gas.

A couple of weeks ago a protest in the city Aurian also broke out to riots when non-Teprogrenaians protested against discrimination. That time the protest was subdued with increased use of police forces.

We managed to make contact with our reporter, who was walking with the protest group and interviewed some of the protesters. They claim: "The Teprogrenaians are hypocrite assholes. They claim to be so civilised and to be against slavery, but at the same time those who are not of the same race are spit upon!"

"I must work 80 hours a week for almost no pay and when I go to the market the prices are threefold for me compared to a Teprogrenaian! This must stop!"

The head of police in Negixa quickly came with a public response: "Today, a peaceful demonstration have fallen into chaos. Despite several warnings to stay calm, and despite the promise of the protest initiators to keep an orderly march, the aliens broke out into shouting, aggression and violence. We do all we can to keep the chaos contained in a few streets, and to return peace to the city."

The protest in Negixa was planned much earlier but was then postponed after the Aurian riots and the sudden after monsoon. The Negixa Police Consult and Negixa Political Consult initially wanted to forbid the protest together but allowed it after increased pressure from the self-proclaimed civil rights movement in Negixa.

Sub-faction increasing police armaments, neighbouring sub-factions fear a police state

Stellaria
- A sub-faction of the Astrian Colonial Authority is increasing the amount of arms for its local police force and the size of their armed response team. Neighbouring sub-factions have voiced their concerns, stating the sub-faction has a low crime rate and a stronger police presence will only provoke people.

The sub-faction in question is purchasing higher grade weapons than they currently have and has increased the size of its armed response team from 400 to 1000 officers. The local government claims they have done so in response to better combat increasing crime rates.

Some neighbouring sub-factions have placed orders for better weapons for their own law enforcement shortly after they learned of these events.

The ACA has remained quiet about the situation for the moment. They have not given any indication that they are monitoring the situation.

Unemployed for two minutes

Unity -
In a bizarre twist of events, a remote employee working for One Corporation was fired by the company today, only to be re-hired for his old position two-minutes later.

The employee had failed to fill in the appropriate paperwork for a completed assignment, and received an automated message informing him he was fired and no longer employed by the company. However, before being able to fully come to terms with his termination, the former employee received an automatic message offering him the job from which he had just been fired.

"All I had to do was click 'accept' on the pop-up. It was really quite discombobulating" the bewildered employee reported "I was given the same job I had been given before, so I made sure I filled in the appropriate paperwork this time, and now my career seems to be entirely back to normal."

One Corporation owners were not reachable for comments, but the newly re-hired employee has vowed that from now on, he will always file the proper paperwork.

Sensational News: Exploration Novella deemed Fan-fiction of Shadow of War

Unity -
"Where no-one has gone before", a classic Holo-novel about a sentient space ship named the Penumbral Peace travelling through time and space and exploring the galaxy with its cybernetic crew of robots, was revealed today to actually be about famous ship and cyborg Shadow of War.

"If you think about it, it really makes sense" fan-fiction analyst George Rodberry explained while serving this reporter his lunch today "Both are really large ships, and related to a world filled with cybernetics. Both visit strange and unusual places, such as the Tepogrenaian Consensus for Shadow of War and the Exotic-Matter-eating Giant Midgets of Xiar for Penumbral Peace. Both have the ability to travel vast distances and have similar sizes and names. Plus, it would totally make sense for Shadow of War to be from the future."

When asked how it can be explained that the classic Holo-novel was written before the creation of Shadow of War, our fan-fiction analyst was unfortunately forced to return to work by his employer.

Veolian senator Nehket Aeka recalled to Mirda

Mirda - The Veolian senator, lady Nehket Aeka, has been recalled to Mirda to appear before the Imperial Council. While she has regular contact with Mirda in her capacity as senator, this time is unique in that the subject of the meeting has been made known beforehand: the imperial council will convene to discuss the handling of the matter of slavery.

It is well known that both House Shebi and House Dewa strongly opposed the manner in which the matter was handled in the senate, stating that Nehket Aeka should have used her authority as elected chancellor to put a halt to the discussion. Rumour has it that these houses have pushed for a review of the senator's track record, and that both houses have put forward candidates for the position of senator.

Nehket Aeka was not available for comment.

Mirda - According to Kupha Bevak, the CEO of Skipnet and former head of the Veolian-IO Protocol Communications Taskforce on Mirda, the IO have begun evolving into a new species. Their recent actions have shown that they are adapting their own code into a form fitting the social interaction within the Union. It is unclear what the implications of this will be in the long run.

Whe we reached out, Kupha Bevak was available for comment: "Are you serious?! I wrote no such thing! I merely wrote that this is the first time the IO have replied with a 'Thank you' in the natural language payload of a message. You news people should learn to read and cite text! The Remunzian mate-seekers vs Veolian Slave Owners trial begins on the steps to the courthouse

Mirda, Jala Khaira - The trial that is expected to become the best-known trial of the year, the Remunzian mate-seekers versus Veolian Slave Owners, has started off with strong public statements by both parties.

Senator Salixa of the Silver Forests of Remunzia adressed the public on the steps to Jala Khaira's High Court. Her speech hit home with many veolians by focussing on the core values of genetics and reproduction that resonate well with the public. Together with the still increasing popularity of the remunzian "mate seekers", the public battle seems to have started off in earnest.

In reply the lead lawyer for the Veolian Slave Owners, Pratinidhi Niriba, spoke to the crowds about the longevity of the veolian civilisation, and the value of diversity and the spirit of the Union. His speech appealed to the nationalistic feelings, and painted the Silver Forests of Remunzia as acting against the spirit of the Union by refusing to accept the proposed compromise as presented in the Senate.

With both sides focussing as much on public opinion as on legal arguments, this trial will prove to be interesting indeed.

Watch all the material from our archive, or follow the trial life from our reporters on site.

((OOC: I hope to have more players involved in this event. So if you want your officials, Jedi, or press present at the trial go there and start posting ^_^))

Imperial Council is deliberating on new senator

Mirda - The Imperial Council of the Veolian Commonwealth has made it known that the council is currently deliberating on the appointment of a new union senator. It is public knowledge that two of the six members of the council, House Dewa and House Shebi, were vocal opponents of the course Nehket Aeka selected during her term as chancellor. House Iaat was also an opponent of the course, for different reasons.

While no official statement has been made, insiders and analysts agree that two candidates are being discussed: Dewa Lanadi and Shebi Sundara, each strongly supported by their respective Houses. One of our sources claims that Dewa Sonali, a slave of Shebi Sundara, has been nominated as well by both House Dewa and House Shebi but that House Iaat is adamant that no good will come of it.

As of yet, no choice has been made, and it remains to be seen what the eventual decision will be. One thing is clear: Nehket Aeka will not return to Unity as senator.

Veolian Commonwealth appoints new senator: Duchess Dewa Lanadi

Mirda - After another two days of deliberation the Imperial Council has decided to appoint Dewa Lanadi as the new union senator for the Veolian Commonwealth. The decision did not come as a suprise according to analysts, the other serious contender, Shebi Sundara, is seen as being too direct for the current political climate.

Duchess Dewa Lanadi is the mind behind the establishment of Cassandra Holdings through a hostile takeover of the Gnosis corporation. She also had a hand in the development of the Kelwaraan Bank, the financial institution behind the popular (:kelwaraan-credits), and still holds an advisory position at the bank. Her detractors state that at a mere 154 years of age she cannot even be considered an adult, and that she is little more than a pretty face used by House Dewa to annex the estate of her husband, Duke Langar Burhanis.

It is currently speculated that the main reason for the recall of the Nehket Aeka, who represented the Veolian Commonwealth for four and a half years and sat as chancellor for four periods, is the fact that she did not use her position as chancellor to put a stop to the debate on slavery. Instead, she lead a frank discussion on the topic, culminating in a vote with two compromising options. Political analysts say that in doing so and not succeeding in pushing through a compromise, she drew the ire of three of the six great houses.

Stellaria spaceports crowded because of send off ceremony

Stellaria
- Spaceports on the Astrian homeworld were struggling with the vast number of people gathered there to attend the send off ceremony for the Astrian Colonial Navy First Fleet.

A few dozen warships are scheduled to depart to patrol the area in and around (:sector) 7 -4 for pirate activity. Thousands of men and women from the navy departed to Lunia today to board their ships. They are expected to remain in their designated area for more than half a year. Securing shipping routes, escorting supply runs and defending the nearly finished Hikari Outpost and the Abyss Station still under construction from raids by pirates and other criminal activity.

Three additional battle groups have been assigned to the sectors outside Union space to flush out and eliminate pirate nests and criminal hideouts.

Though it will be a few days before the first Frigates and Destroyers depart final checks have already begun. The Lord-Master will personally be giving a final send off to the Navy on Lunia. We here at the UCN Novalia branch also wish the brave men and women of the Navy the best of luck in their upcoming mission.

The ceremony on Stellaria proceeded without hindrance.

ACA and Hiocans celebrate their new outpost

Sector 6 -5
- The new Hikari Outpost of the Astrian Colonial Authority and Hiocan Society has been officially opened. Ambassador Hiru Othian and Senator Harek together cut the ribbon to celebrate this special collaboration between these two faction. With this Union territory has been expanded by another sector. The Astrian Colonial Navy First Fleet will be patrolling the new border which is just one sector away of Mandalorian territory.

The strategic location as well as availability of interesting raw material lead to a shared outpost in new territory. The construction and military researchers of the ACA together with the Hiocan technological researchers worked together in creating a multi functional outpost with the latest technology. The first workers have arrived to start up the production facilities. The Hiocan trade fleet will be delivering the necessary good.

"This is a unique collaboration of two faction who reach out to the unknown and grab the opportunity to create something new." says Senator Harek. "With this we have reached a new technological level as well as cultural understanding of each other. I am looking forward to the results of this collaboration."

Holonet Shift

Unity -
The Astrian Colonial Authority and the IO Protocol have reached an agreement regarding the sale of the extensive Astrian holonet network. Control over the Astrian Colonial Authority network, comprising almost 30.000 (:holonet-trade) is scheduled to be transferred over the coming months.

Even before the purchase, the IO Protocol already controlled almost 50% of the new Unions Holonet Relays, a capacity of over 80.000 (:holonet-trade), but with this buyout of the third largest holonet-relay network in the Union, it is set to control more than two-thirds of all new Holonet Relays in the Union.

However, though an agreement was reached, the deal still faces some hurdles. Technical and legal loopholes still need to be sorted before the deal can become fully official.

Grand opening of new Research Facility on Unity

Unity -
Chancellor Odakim V today officially opened a new Research Facility, focused on developing technology to be used to improve the atmosphere on Unity.

The Chancellor Bolv'ar Memorial Technology and Terraformation Institute (CBMTTI) centers around a 25 meter tall statue of the former chancellor, in traditional Deominian style. The unveiling of the statue caused much surprise among those present at the unveiling, as most had expected the statue to depict Chancellor Odakim V himself.

Rumors about the unexpected unveiling hint from Deominian values of honoring the dead to a calculated move for the upcoming election.

First shipment of exotic particles from Abyss Station arrives in Novalia System

Stellaria
- Today the first shipment of exotic particles from the Abyss Station Space Habitat arrived. Several prominent figures lauded the achievement as a new milestone in technology.

The station is located in close proximity to a microquasar, a type of black hole, called The Tombstone. There it gathers exotic particles that are shot from the black hole. Usually these particles can only be created artificial in small quantities. Thanks to the new Abyss Station these particles can now be gathered in much larger quantities in a more efficient way.

The first shipment is not expecting much use in actual products. Instead these large quantities are going to be thoroughly tested to ascertain their unique material properties. Expectations are high as many scientists and engineers believe the new availability of these particles may be what allows the next generation of technology to happen.

Adii Nasla settlement starts converting settlement infrastructure

Asla - Due to a combination of succesful media campaigns, promised tax breaks to colonists, and unfiltered veolian ambition the settlement of Adii Nasla has grown beyond the size where it can go without dedicated trade infrastructure. To remedy the situation the government of the Veolian Commonwealth is funding the repurposing of settlement infrastructure into dedicated trade ports and large scale infrastructuraly improvements.

Despite many believing that House Dewa's allusions to marriage negotiations were only a media stunt news of Dewa officials discretely travelling to several of the settlement's population centers has fueled the rumour mill. Our sources have confirmed that Dewa officials have been visiting influential colonists and colonists with strong claims. House Dewa is unavailable for comment.
