Rumours and conspiracy theories on Praeto

Praeto - Rumours are spreading on Praeto that the old crime families are becoming more active. Some individuals are claiming that they spotted Luciano Giordanith who is presumed to be the leader of the Giordanith family, the most vicious crime syndicate that has been dormant for three decades now.

The Praetorian Primary Fleet is performing a final drill before they go to war. The drill seems to be taking place near a nebula far away from the Lumo Duo System. Word on the street has it that during the absence of the Praetorian Primary Fleet several crime families are trying to seize control of the Open Market on Sardior.

Furthermore, stockpiled Weapons on Tiam Luna are being shipped to bunkers to prepare for the effects of the war on the Praetorian Empire. Critics are saying that the bunkers are not nearly as secure as they are supposed to be.

The authorities have not been willing or able to confirm or deny these rumours

Armed and ready

Dhiahamara - One of the most important steps of the Teprogrenaian Consensus' most ambitious project ever is finally complete, and not a moment to soon. The Cradle's defence grids are on-line and fully operational. Analysts say that their timing is impeccable, as the teprogrena finished just before the Union senate officially declared war against the Mandalorian Fleets.

During an interview with Fecra Amir, the spokesman of the Consult overseeing the progression The Cradle he explained: "Together with our defences on Dhiahamara, The Cradle will be a serious threat to any hostile fleet trying to conquer Dhiahamara." He was asked his opinion on the fact that The Cradle was not really able to actually destroy fleets: "It is intentionally that The Cradle has no weapons capable of more than stopping fleets. We do not want to create a target for pre-emptive strikes out of fear. But with the Cradle protecting our homeworld, our enemies will think twice before sieging Dhiahamara."

However, the Parumecaetes system is must larger than only Dhiahamara, and the Cradle cannot protect the entire system. Amir was asked what his insight was on the strategies of the Mandalorians: "We do not know what the Mandalorians want, all we can do is prepare for the worst."

Increased terraformation demand, prices rise to 6.25

Mirda - A spokeswoman for House Saret has announced that the imperial familiy has raised the price of terraformation with 1.25 (:tax) per (:terraform). This increase puts the price per unit (:terraform) at 6.25 (:tax). The terraformation industry, which is almost completely in the hands of House Saret, has been steadily improving its output over the last months. The industry is currently levelling out at 450 (:terraform) per turn, which analysts say is enough to lift a medium planet from a ball of rock to an eden world in just 25 (:turns)

Reactions to the announcement were met with subdued enthusiasm, as news of the Mandalorian siege of Nest has put the Mandalorian war in a new perspective.

Shoot out between ODST's and murder cult.

Stellaria
- Earlier today there was a shoot out between the Colonial Marines' Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and a group of murder cultists.

After several months police finally discovered the party responsible for the eleven mass executions that took place. A group of murderous cultists with strong delusional beliefs.

Special tactical units where sent in to apprehend the cultists but apparently the cultists where in possession of highly illegal military hardware. After sustaining severe casualties the police called on the Colonial Military for backup. A ACN destroyer in orbit immediately deployed Marine Special Forces Orbital Drop Shock Troopers who arrived 3 minutes later.

A spokes person for the police had this to say on the matter: "This operation shows that law enforcement and military are both in service of the people. Never the less, it is always a tragedy when police officers or soldiers pay the ultimate price to protect the public. We all mourn the loss of our colleagues and their families have our deepest sympathies."

Zero-Corporation hit by power outage

ECCE -
Less than a month after being founded, the primary production sites of the Zero-Corporation have been hit by a large scale power outage, effectively halting any and all production.

Foreign employees working from home through holonet connections have been unable to log in to their work site which merely displays an error message stating "The Zero Corporation is currently hybernating due to insufficient power", with no further explanation.

While some argue the company may have gone bankrupt, others have noted salaries are still being paid and all legal obligations of the company are still being met, resulting in large scale confusion amongst both employees and business partners.

Specialists have since determined that the Zero Corporation servers are currently switched into 'hybernation mode', a setting which allows these systems to use less electrical power than normal at the expense of completely halting production. This switch occurred after the IO Protocol cut off most of the power.

As of yet, no explanation has been given as to why the power to the Zero Corporation servers was cut off. When asked about the error, Senator 0x71A7E17A of the IO Protocol had this to say:

"304 - Not Modified"

It is currently unclear what, if anything, this means...

Civil Tensions rise as the war continues

Glasslyn - WIth the war growing in severity and the reality of the scale of the conflict ushers in a new area in the Sundarian Civil unrest, which seemed to be quelled for a while.

Over the course of a few hours, several storage depots and government transports were attacked and looted, limiting the supply of mainly weapons and ammunition.Officials and law inforcement personnel are still conducting their investigation, it seems for now that this effort was well coordinated and it as of yet unclear whom is responsible.

In order to prevent further unrest, High lord Yllia has issued a statement stating that the people should have confidence in their government and the law enforcement. "As long we stick together and work with our allies, we can deal with the Mandalorian Threat. Likewise law enforcement personnel should get the time they need to investigate and find those responsible in order to bring them to justice. Meanwhile I urge the public to remain calm."

We can expect more on this issue later..

Kelwaraan Bank takes over Megirda Exchange

Mirda - In financial news, the Kelwaraan Bank has succesfully pressed a hostile takeover of the Megirda Exchange, a system-wide public stock exchange situated on Mirda. Earlier this week it became clear that the Dewa-owned investment bank had acquired a 15.4% interest in the stock exchange.

Though the Megirda Exchange tried to ward off the hostile takeover, the Kelwaraan Bank pressed for a change in management. Mere hours after the vote came through, two large shareholders accepted a bid by the Kelwaraan Bank for the acquisition of a 43.4% stake. The fact that the investment bank offered 23.2 credits for shares, 6.5 under the then current market price, hints at secondary terms being offered to the majority holders of Megirda.

This acquisition widens the range of operations of the Kelwaraan Bank, and might very well be a precursor to opening up the Megirda Exchange for trading on a Union-wide scale.

Hiocan Society prepares for war

Hio/Erau - The Mandalorian fleets have invaded 7,-6 (:sector). The newly build Planetary defense grids around Hio and Erau have been thoroughly tested and are ready to use. People feel more safe at home but they are still stashing up food supplies and making emergency packets. The suus mahna dojo's are busy with training new recruits who have poured in as to defend themselves against attackers.

With the Lagrange Conduit point finished in the system the old power transfer stance are not used and recycled for the military. The power supply within the My'enry system is now up to date and this way the power need for the various zones is secured. Now the people have to wait and see how the battle between the Union and Mandalorian fleets unfolds their sector.

Massive losses reported in Mandalorian attack on Azaryan homeworld

Nest/Unity - More news about the conflict with the Mandalorians in the Azaryan home sector. Yesterday, we have finally manged to contact forces on Nest, the Azaryan homeworld. Unfortunately, due to active Mandalorian interference, the link did not stay up for long. However, the reports that have come in can be called shocking.

Several heavy orbital attacks by Mandalorian ships have been reported, wrecking destruction on the surface of Nest and is populace. Word is that not only military targets have been targeted - their surface-to-space defense grid has been rendered completely inoperable - but also civilian targets like villages and schools have been obliterated.

Multiple Mandalorian drop ships have been sighted as well, dropping superiorly armed Mandalorians against the recently mostly demilitarized UEAC defense force, who - as they say themselves - stand no chance against this amount of force. The total victim count of this brutal invasion has been reported to be running well into seven-digit figures.

We have received word from reliable sources that after the reinstatement of the Unified Empire of Azaryan Colonies as a Union member this (:turn), several fleets have been sent to intercept the Mandalorians on (:sector) 9-4.

Will they be on time? We can only pray they will.

Accidental explosion kills 117 children on Teprogrena

Teprogrena -
117 children were killed today after an anti-vehicle plasma grenade went off in a school classroom, disintegrating not just the class, but several adjacent class rooms as well.

The people on Teprogrena are normally very peaceful and cooperative and rarely get into physical altercations, leading investigators to believe this may have been an accident rather than a deliberate act of murder, but for the families of the unfortunate victims this offers little comfort.

Plasma grenades are rare and highly expensive, for obvious reasons normally only available to military forces, so investigators are wondering how it ended up in the school in the first place.

New violently Xenophobic faction on Enthor!

Enthor -
As the sun rose on the capital city of Enthor, police were shocked to discover over two-hundred human corpses laying on the streets in an outer district of the city. Security camera's show a raid by masked Astai early in the morning going house to house dragging human men, women and children out of their beds and into the streets and subsequently executing them.

Xenophobia is normally a fringe opinion held only by small minorities, but those minorities were now seen carrying military grade weapons and armour. A message left by the attackers stated that this was 'only the beginning' of the 'cleansing of Enthor'. In response, many humans have gone to Enthors extensive black market in weapons to be able to defend themselves, leading many to fear this may quickly escalate out of control.

The suspects are still at large.

Private war waged on Tiamat

Tiamat -
Local Praetorian defence forces were called in by police today after reports of fighting over a platinum mine on Tiamat.

Two companies disputing the mine had engaged in a private war, each side trying to use the strict military hierarchy of Praetorian society and the combat training that all of its employees have received to secure its interests in the area.

Local police forces specifically refused to interfere in the matter and waited for defence forces to arrive, stating:

"We are not equiped to handle air-strikes and artillery support."

Praetorian Defence Forces managed to secure the area after a stand-off with these private armies, but the platinum mine was completely destroyed in the process.

With both companies claiming they were 'merely defending themselves' and neither accepting responsibility for blowing up the mine, people are wondering how commercial mining companies came to possess the weapons to equip a private army in the first place.

So far at least 130 corpses have been identified.

Revolutionary Forces at work in Guaire System!

Glasslyn -
Groups of violent protesters marched through the streets in several of Glasslyns larger cities today to protest against the privileges and levies that noble houses have under Sundarian law, especially in regards to conscription.

Calling for reforms and the reduction of power of the nobility, various protesters were seen carrying assault rifles and other heavy weapons, making police hesitant to make charges.

Though the protests were eventually broken up, police could not prevent several noble estates being plundered and burned. Reportedly, two noblemen died to allow their wives and children to escape from the angry mob.

Rumour has it the Civil Integrity Committee may be making some unexpected arrests in regards to this manner.

Veolian Empress injured on Mirda

Mirda -
Empress Saret Neferti was injured today when a speeder loaded with explosives rammed her convoy, leaving a 12 meter crater in surrounding buildings and killing dozens of members of her security forces and staff.

The suicide attack, executed by a former Twi'lek slave, was claimed by a group calling themselves the Black Tails in retaliation for the government providing weapons to rival gangs. The Black tails mentioned the Empress' failed negotiations with the Slave Rebellion and her ownership and treatment of slaves as secondary reasons for targeting her.

Tensions on Mirda between the native Veolians and Twi'lek immigrants have been steadily rising, with Veolian gangs combating what they call the "Twi'lek invasion" after gangs of Twi'lek broke into their criminal enterprises.

Experts expect the conflict to quickly escalate further now that the market is being flooded with illegal weapons.

Qvavi Flower Blooms!

Qvavilebis -
Today the Qvavi flower started its short blooming period before the eyes of thousands of tourists and scientists who travelled to the small world of Qvavilebis to see the spectacle.

The Qvavi Flower blooms only once every few centuries when Qvavilebis passes by the sun as part of its strongly elliptical orbit, and this event is especially noticeable due to the enormous size of the plant, which is over 20 kilometres in size.

Imperial judgement rains down on weapon dealers!

Mirda - Today, at first light, Imperial Guard forces executed well-planned strikes on both legitimate weapons dealers suspected of unethical trading and gang warehouses. Among the gangs hit by the strikes were the Sons of Smi, a gang allegedly run by Arapadh Malikar.

These strikes were mere days after the attack on first empress Saret Neferti. Analysts think that the campaign will be maintained for at least until the Mandalorian War has been won. However, House Saret adamantly refuses to support this statement, claiming "House Saret will only execute military strikes on domestic soil if absolutely necessary". This statement has been explained by experts as being cleverly worded to hide the fact that other noble houses will be expected to take up the effort themselves.

Related, empress Saret Neferti herself addressed the public today.

Source
"Lords, ladies, citizen of the commonwealth,

Since last Thursday's dreadful news we have seen, throughout the Commonwealth, an overwhelming expression of sadness and anger. My sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of those that gave their life to protect mine, we will never never forget their sacrifice.

The attack on our life, perpetrated by a misguided group of radicals, has shown us that we have failed our twi'lek citizen. Where we see an escalation of gang violence, they see government funded weaponry.

Where we see an opportunity to find better mates, they see a campaign of divorces and forced matchings. Where we see a hospital with doctors working around the clock, they see an organisation that kills children.

We shall endeavour to find common ground, we shall seek to inform, to educate and most of all, we shall seek to accept and embrace the difference in culture for the betterment of the Commonwealth.

It goes without saying that we have not funded or supported any criminal enterprise, regardless of their origin. We have tolerated such enterprises in the past, as they offer a valuable service to our society as a whole. However, recent events have shown that they have forgotten their place in society. Let us help them remember.

Today, my husband has ordered military strikes on known gang warehouses, regardless of racial affiliation. House Saret has been challenged, and we never let a challenge go unanswered."

The Omnipotari has just bought a license to establish a private army! Sources claim that the license has cost them 500 (:tax) but does not grant them full autonomy.

Tiamat - Hostile take over attempt has been completed. The hostile take over attempt by Platindustries ended in a merger. They claim that the property damage was minimal and that the lost mine will be rebuild.

Old Astrian space probe found.

Sector 7 -4
- After over 200 years without contact the Traverser I space probe has been found.

Launched nearly 250 years ago from Stellaria, in the early days of Astrian space exploration, the Traverser I and II where originally meant to collect data on Lianee, the third star in the Novalia system, and Kolium, the gas giant in the system. After they completed this mission the probes where re-purposed to collect data as they went further to the outskirts of the Novalia system.

Contact was lost when the probes ran out of power and stopped transmitting. The Traverser I was the fastest probe without hyperspace technology and is currently traversing interstellar space, where it was found by the Traveller Lightsky. Lightsky explained she detected it when she dropped out of hyperspace but didn't know what it was until she saw the golden plate attached to the side of the probe.

A spokes person for the Travellers has commented that a Traveller will accompany their "predecessor" for the foreseeable future to honour it's legacy.

Astai citizens unhappy about weapons shortage

Enthor - Amidst the threat of the new xenophobic militia many citizens of the Astai Republic want to buy weapons so that they can defend their families.

However a shortage of weapons has arisen amongst government approved stores, right as the Mandelorian war is beginning to heat up. Many citizens are unhappy about the state of affairs.

Minister Atheos responded "The shortage of weapons is being investigated by a special task force, early reports are indicating that unsanctioned dealers have had an increase in sales. We warn against buying from such dealers as the weapons they deal have not been tested to be up to standard. We understand the need for armaments and have put our best men on the job. This situation will be dealt with swiftly and decisively."

In related news an astai was killed whilst he was calibrating unsanctioned weaponry and due to a malfunction the weapon exploded.

CEO of Extremely Cheap Travel Inc. arrested

Unity -
The CEO of Extremely Cheap Travel Inc. was arrested by Unity police today after Jedi discovered the company failed to live up to safety code standards.

In what engineers described as 'the most abysmal level of maintenance ever seen in this sector', much of the companies fleet of refurbished freighters were deemed not just unfit to carry passengers, but generally unfit to lift off the ground even without entering space, leaving the company without a source of revenue.

In response to the arrest and grounding of the fleet Extremely Cheap Travel stocks dropped 98% in a mass dumping, a fall only worsened by rumours stock-holders may be held financially liable for the companies misconducts. The company will most likely file for bankruptcy in the next few days.

Extremely Cheap Travel Inc. became market leader in low budget interstellar transportation in the past few years with their slogan campaign "You get what you pay for".

Citizens in the Union can be grateful to the Jedi for exposing the unethical standards practised by this company, which has likely prevented many deaths that would have surely resulted had the company been allowed to continue doing business.

Azaryans in need of Aid

Unity -
Food and Healthcare products are currently in short supply in some parts of the Union, especially the Azaryan homeworld. As a result, open market suppliers have made deals with charity organizations to aid the Azaryan people, resulting in trade lock-down. At the same time, protesters appear to be actively searching for scapegoats resulting in large scale boycotts and media shaming of those who attempt to gain profits while the Azaryan people suffer from these shortages.
