Halek Discharge Capture
Special Project
The Smi-Halek System features a heliospheric barrier with frequent energy discharges. Deploying a network of conductor array stations allows the capture and use of bleed-off energy from the barrier. Since the Smi-Halek system is of insignificant size when compared to the nebula it resides in, this energy drain has a negligible impact on the nebula.
Improved understanding of the Halek barrier gained from this project might allow later weaponization of the effect, offering a protective barrier around the system.
Benefit: A network of 'Exotic Energy Collector' stations is created. This network starts out collecting 150
, and can be upgraded once to collect 300
.
Cost: 3000+X
, another 3000+X
for the upgrade
Variables: X → 1.5 times the cost of 'zonelessness'
Decentralized Generator Capacity
Technology
On hold - not interesting enough.
Benefit: Enables one to build the 'Decentralized Generators' upgrade. This upgrade adds a +10
production to a zone that consumes at least 10
. The upgrade costs 200+X
, and 100+(X/2)
on planets with Natural Life.
Variables: X → the cost of 'zonelessness' of one-tenth of a zone.
