Superpowers
Superpowers are galactic nations that stably hold sovereign control over a minimum of two sectors. Because the term 'superpower' is loaded and subject to political interpretation, especially when one superpower contests the right of another to exist, the only criteria are that the superpower be sovereign and that it has de facto complete control over two more sectors.
These criteria do mean however that states with large ranges in economic status, territorial area and military power between superpowers. For example, the Slave Rebellion is economically very poor and unstable for a superpower, but qualifies as one nevertheless. The Confederacy of Excaria by contrast is not a super power as even though it has strong fleets, power in multiple sectors and it is economically very well off, it yields to the authority of the Union which means it is not a sovereign power.
List of Superpowers
The list below is not a complete list of all superpowers in the galaxy, but lists some of the more important ones.
-
Free Confederacy (The Free Confederacy is a split off of the Union with less government control over its members.)
-
Mandalorian Fleets (Nomadic armies claiming several worlds as supply points for their fleets.)
-
Union (The Union is a political entity of different sovereign worlds that cooperate for their mutual benefit.)
-
Hutt Families (A loose alliance of Hutt Families that cooperate against outsiders.)
-
Core Hegemony (An authoritation group of systems near the galactic core.)
-
Slave Rebellion (The slave rebellion consists of liberated slave worlds.)
-
Echani (Combat oriented single-species superpower.)
Territories
Listed in the table below are the home territories for various superpowers. Note that the influence of a superpower radiates outwards from there - the sectors listed are the ones that are actively patrolled by its armed forces and that have the superpowers laws actively enforced. Also note that only sectors on the Map are listed.
