In 213 the Silver Forests of Remunzia sends a holomail to the Veolian Commonwealth's attorney general. In it they set out their arguments that Veolian slavery laws are an artificial legal construct which is supported by and dependent upon enforcement by the governmental apparatus. Because of this the Silver Forests of Remunzia hold that slave ownership should be interpreted as effectively equivalent to a cybernetic enhancement. The Veolian attorney general reviews their arguments. The reply notes that the remunzians can not bring suit at this moment because there is no actual situation where their rights are infringed upon.

The Silver Forests of Remunzia send over three official “mate-seekers” to Mirda: Aliania, Evinar and Illora-Veleanor travel to Mirda to find a veolian partner. Of note is that Illora-Veleanor's lineage traces back to a theelin noble house, making her a noble. The three “mate-seekers” quickly become famous on Mirda, as Senator Salixa arrives. Evinar, the politician and accomplished debater, ranked 6th most popular male public figure, while Aliania ranks 9th most popular female public figure. In an unforeseen twist, House Shebi started an advertisement campaign praising the adventorous spirit of the Remunzian mate-seekers.

The Remunzians file their court case on 218 with the County Court of Jala Khaira. It is quickly discovered that the case has merit, and is handed over to the High Court of Jala Khaira where cases between nobles are settled. The case becomes intergalactic news as Union Central News begins live broadcasting the pre and post-court comments on the stairs to the court.

The court proceedings get even more media attention due to the presence of notables such as Jedi Jaicen Hedoss, senator Lady Peinaili de Montrève, philosopher Khaw Darsana and Danar Sylvia.

The plaintiffs are the Remunzian mate-seekers Aliania, Evinar and Illora-Veleanor, supported by Senator Salixa and a legal team of remunzian and veolian lawyers. Additionally, their legal team is adviced by attorney at law, count Iaat Vakīla of House Iaat.

The defendants are a repersentative delegation of Veolian slave owners from the great houses. Lady Saret Larākia, a niece of the emperor. Archduchess Nehket Sajjana, archduchess of Aveire. Lady Shebi Lajāna, the mother of Jedi Master Shebi Ajava. Lord Khaw Sēnāpaat, commander of the Khaw defensive frigate group, and finally Lady Dewa Lanadi, the financial mind behind Cassandra Holdings and senator for the Veolian Commonwealth. They are represented by the lawyer Pratinidhi Niriba, from the high-end firm Dasturā, Kānūla & Bladruk, after the named partners Dasturā Mihatnar, Kānūla Lialina and Orpomog Bladruk. He is a well-acclaimed lawyer specialising in complex civil cases.

After lengthy proceedings court is adjourned in 252. Representatives of other worlds, legal offices on other worlds, and knowledgable individuals are invited to send in written statements with arguments for or against either party in this case.

The call for Amicus Briefs is brought to the senate to allow other union members to submit their opinions. During the adjournement several Amicus briefs are received:

• Ranatori Baltimorus writes on behalf of the Praetorian Empire to support immediate dismissal of the case.
• Miranda Asillion writes as an expert in cybernetics and on the request of the Astrian Colonial Authority, she elaborates on the inherent ambiguity in the use of the term “cybernetics” and suggests that the court use adjusted terminology to clarify the case.
• High Lord High Lord Yllia writes on behalf of the Sundarian Council and elaborates on the positive sides of the Veolian concept of slavery.

During the adjournment the Remunzian mate seeker Illora-Veleanor and veolian scholar Khaw Darsana become involved. House Khaw announces that the relationship between the two will not be one of a regular marriage, but that Illora-Veleanor has accepted a position as personal slave of Khaw Darsana, in clear defiance to the legal battle in which she is a plaintiff.

Immediately upon continuation of court, the veolian lawyer calls for the dismissal of the case because Illora-Veleanor has withdrawn her support. According to the veolian lawyer this means that the Remunzians have no standing in the High Court, since they are not noble. The Remunzians try to counter the argument, but fall short of proving that the remaining representatives are nobility.

The case is dismissed in 268, with the judge noting that the law should be clarified based on the amicus brief by Dr. Miranda Asillion.
