Kiitik Uplift

In centuries past, the Kiitik uplifted several species on their homeworld, as a practice of their philosophy of increasing life, and for practical reasons. These uplift races function as autonomous clans, and these clans have integrated well into Kiitik society. The Kiitik Uplift consist of a wild variety of species:

Lïïph

Originally a race of subsentient cephalopods, and one well on their way to achieving sentience on their own, the Lïïph were one the first Uplift race. Their malleable form and relative advancement made them a suitable candidate. The Lïïph helped the Kiitik conquer their oceans, dramatically increasing production. Eventually, they rebelled and segregated, maintaining small ocean empires. Two centuries ago, they rejoined the Lifebringer Clans as a fully autonomous clan.

Kraatah

Originally a flying reptillian species, Uplifting the Kraatah was meant to help the Kiitik conquer the skies the way the Lïïph helped them conquer the seas. Unfortunately, the Kraatah skull was too small to support the brain structure needed for sentience, and enlarging its skull made the neck too fragile, and increasing neck strength made the creature too heavy too fly, and so on. Low on budget (and Kraatah), the Kiitik scientists gave up on preserving flight. Currently, there are roughly a hundred thousand Kraatah.

Others

  • Kiitik experimented with 'augmenting' several land predators for use as shock troops / bioweapons. Some of these have established small communities, hiring themselves as pilots and mercenaries.
  • There's a joke that Ewoks are actually a Kiitik experiment gone horribly awry.
