The name “Irdara's Chosen” is derived from the name of the first Adii Nasla from the tale that gives the Adii Nasla System. In the tale, Irdara amasses an army to defend the first Adii Nasla from the army of Aneka, the tale's protagonist.

Irdara's Chosen are, by necessity, specialised in non-atmospheric combat due to the lack of atmosphere on Asla. They are a defensive army in that they are well-equiped to defend urban terrain and settlements, yet their mechanized units and jetpack infantry make them a mobile and fierce force when they go on the offensive.
