The Free Confederacy is a split off of the Union with less government control over its members.

The Free Confederacy was formed by Liberal Assencia, the Interregnum Democracy of Scir and the Free Peoples of Wrarrbo after their governments split off from the Union over disagreements of the direction to take. The Free Confederacy believes in less government involvement and was in dispute with the union over the ownership of Sector 13 -1 and Sector 13 -2, the matter being closed with the Stellaria Argentum Treaty on Relations with the Free Confederacy, where it was decided Sector 13 -1 would become Free Confederacy territory with Sector 13 -2 becoming shared territory.

Following the split, the Free Confederacy adopted its current logo in 144.
