The word Astan is a combination of the term Astai and Human. True to their name the Astan are a combination of Astai and Humans, the result of interracial marriages that have recently allowed for viable offspring. Though Astan have existed in small amounts on Enthor since the Humans arrived, only recently have advances in technology let the crossing bloom.

Astan share characteristics of both Astai and Humans, each Astani being a different combination of characteristics. Many retain the opposable thumbs of both species, some retain the talon feet of Astai. Generalising, the Astan are an omnivorous species with a preference for meat. All are bipedal and give birth to live young.

Astan are generally accepted as equals to both Humans and Astai on their homeplanet of Enthor, though some conservative factions view them with distrust and see them as abominations of the Astai heritage. As a relatively new species, their specific fashion traditions are still forming, and many different forms of cosmetic appearances can be found on Astan.
